The Epstein Files Transparency Act "requires the Department of Justice (DOJ) to publish (in a searchable and downloadable format) all unclassified records, documents, communications..."

"... and investigative materials in DOJ's possession that relate to the investigation and prosecution of Jeffrey Epstein. This includes (1) materials that relate to Ghislaine Maxwell, (2) flight logs and travel records, and (3) individuals named or referenced (including government officials) in connection with the investigation and prosecution of Jeffrey Epstein. DOJ is permitted to withhold certain information such as the personal information of victims and materials that would jeopardize an active federal investigation."

Says the summary of the bill the House passed today, 427-1.

I'm skeptical about statements like this (from the NYT): "The House on Tuesday approved a bill directing the Justice Department to release all files related to its investigation into the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, in a near-unanimous vote that was a stunning turn for an effort that Republicans had worked for months to kill."

All files?

The NYT does give us this apt question from Marjorie Taylor Greene: “The real test will be, will the Department of Justice release the files, or will it all remain tied up in investigations?”

And here's a key paragraph in the Washington Post article that followed today's vote on the bill: "The Justice Department has not said how it would respond to congressional requests to release the Epstein files, but Attorney General Pam Bondi and her deputies have previously said that they cannot release materials related to ongoing investigations. Trump called on the Justice Department on Friday to examine the relationships between Epstein and several prominent Democrats, including former president Bill Clinton, and Bondi quickly tapped federal prosecutors in Manhattan to take on the job."

Not only does Pam Bondi say that, the language of the bill permits withholding information that would jeopardize an active federal investigation.

I suspect that today's seeming breakthrough will soon look like no progress at all. But it is a little show. A sop.

1. People won't find what they expect to in the files.
2. Wailing and gnashing of teeth ensue.
3. Conspiracy claims begin in 3... 2... 1...

"Republicans had worked for months to kill."
Another boldfaced libtard lie. Just like the government shutdown votes, Democrat Party members alone have been voting against opening the E Files.

Maybe it wouldn't have seemed so stunning if they hadn't imagined themselves into hallucinatory belief that Republicans had worked for months to suppress the files.
Wow.

I wonder if the Epstein Files will be like Bring Home The POWs from the 1980s. Big story with strong passions (see movie Uncommon Valor), but the history is...history.

It'll include all the files not lost in the flood of 1967.

Damn it, Paul Zrimsek beat me to it.

When the files don't incriminate Trump, Bich, Inga, and Gadfly will be back to claim those files were removed.

Well, the claim of the skeptics is that Trump/Bondi will use the "ongoing investigation" provision to prevent disclosure of all of those juicy Trump-incriminating documents that are supposedly in "the files" (but were somehow missed by the Biden DOJ). There is no "ongoing investigation" of Trump, however--so how does that work?

RCOCEAN II said...

The Best thing for the D's to do is wait for the AG to release the files. The go to a Far-left district judge (there are 700) find one that rule that the DOJ is breaking the law, and rule that a special judge appointment person will review all the files and determine which ones labeled "classified" or "Under investigation" can be released.

District judges can do anything.

Nothing ever turns out to be comprehensive or easy. To the extent that names appear, you’ll see a lot of people who should know better kissing up to the eccentric, wealthy guy with lots of young girls floating around him and a private plane to fly them around.
Nothing to see here.

It says, all unclassified documents. So, in other words, they'll release nothing. And, apparently, this only applies to the DOJ. Not the CIA or any other alphabet agency.

Per CatTurd, Democrats are already claiming that Trump has altered the files to incriminate Democrats... I don't know. This website is addictive enough without me signing onto X.

Oh, teenagers pretty likely. His whole "brand" was fucking hot, young women. So, I think its better than 50/50 that he was fucking 18 and 19 year olds. Younger? Who knows. He has made enough fucked up creepy comments that I wouldn't put it past him.

Teenagers are like Schrödinger's cat for leftists- they're either innocent children or full-grown adults, whichever suits their purpose at any particular time.

Just remember if a House or Senate member tells a lie on the floor of their chamber there can be no lawsuits. I think Republicans need to get every Dem name read on the floor and make statements about them ASAP. Don’t be shy!

427-1 to release files in House, Thune tells trump its over, just like they told Nixon it was over, trump tweets "release the files "after Thunes message to save face after fighting it as seen by Bobert and the crew in the war room to no avail few days back...Thune blows Johnson tale of why he was voting to release because Thune was going to add amendments, SOMEONE WAS LYING Unanimous consent in Senate, Johnson claimed Thune was tricked even as Johnson watched the 3:15 announcement by Johnson on TV in his office. The lying Christian caught again as he is humiliated ,the worm turns... :( What a freakin circus :( And it all means nothing because there is nothing gonna happen because the president is IMMUNE thanks to his pals on the SCOTUS. Time to move on next trauma STOCK MARKET PLUMMET as VIX rises to 24 AND STOCKS WAY OVERVALUED,, The biggest mistake founding Fathers made was presuming all power given to presidents would be honored by a person of High character and Morals, How wrong they were.Time to refresh the too old rules of the past with amendments and come into the 21st century an amoral ,low character, foul being and person in charge of complete pardon power is a direct assault on Democracy

1. Media will always stoke the flames about “unseen files” as they have been doing.
2. Media will obsessively mention Trump every time they write or speak the name Epstein, despite him being the one person exonerated by all information that has been released.
3. Not one reporter for Corporate Media will spend a second of airtime or one column inch exploring Bill Clinton’s ubiquitous presence in Epstein’s orbit.
4. Obama and Holder have not been and will not be mentioned despite their supervision of Acosta’s sweetheart deal with Epstein in 2012.
5. Only expendable lefties like Summers and Plaskett will pay any price for their extremely close ties to Epstein.
6. People cannot now nor will be able in the future to define exactly by “The Epstein Files.”

(Yes I’ve been flogging point 6 since the disastrous Bondi “it’s on my desk” interview and so far have a perfect record for NINE months now during which not one person has been able to give answer to that question, not here or on X or FB or IRL, because they can’t.)

I'll bet the good stuff, the blackmail material, was in private hands within hours of being seized by the FBI.
I wonder what value the blackmail stuff would have had if Epstein had started talking about what he knew?

Just charge all the Epstein clients and get it over with. Any Mossad or CIA connection is old enough and cold enough to be unimportant, as is any blackmailing of or by the Clintons at this point.

Slow walk or no walk is always prefaced by ‘under investigation’. End all of the investigations that will either go on ad infinitum or end with no one punished. Just publish the damn information and let the chips fall where they may.
