“As Republicans are finding ways to push the Trump agenda through Congress during the government shutdown, they are finding themselves sidetracked by an annoying and difficult image problem. Some of their young staffers seem to be obsessed with Nazis — and not in a “Nazis are bad” way.

The latest issue comes from the office of Representative Dave Taylor of Ohio. On Wednesday, Politico reported that the U.S. Capitol Police were called to his office because an “American flag altered to include a swastika” was displayed on a cubicle wall behind the seat of legislative aide Angelo Elia, who graduated from college two years ago.

The swastika hidden in the Republican’s office comes just a day after Politico reported on a foul Telegram chat by young GOP operatives, and at least one state legislator, who frequently used racial slurs and texted each other statements like “I love Hitler.””

No charges have been filed, and the investigation remains ongoing as of October 16.
Elia has not publicly commented. His background, per LinkedIn, includes prior roles at Democratic-leaning firms like Blue Phoenix Strategies and KO Consulting, which has fueled speculation of internal sabotage, though this is unconfirmed.”

According to AOC corporations “like Deloitte” were responsible for rivers catching fire. If you have no experience in big business you may miss a few of the ways she’s wrong:

(1) Legally speaking, Deloitte isn’t a corporation at all. It is privately held.

(2) Deloitte is an accounting and consulting firm. It doesn’t make, process, or even handle the sorts of chemical compounds that once caused the Cuyahoga River to catch fire at the point where it empties into Lake Erie.

(3) Those episodes of rivers so badly polluted that they burned predate American environmental regulations. We Baby Bookers fixed the environment back when Gen-X was still in utero or filling up diapers. We were so successful pushing environmental cleanup that millennials have had to pretend that CO2, a gas absolutely necessary for photosynthesis and therefore necessary for life on earth, is a pollutant.

I would actually welcome this because I find the Forman movie unwatchable due to the stupid grating laugh and imbecility of Hulce's Mozart. Making that incredible, once in a lifetime musical genius a damn silly fool was bad enough, but that fucking retarded laugh he blurts out to finish just about every sentence is torture to me. In the 90's I went to a professional theater group's production of Amadeus and was horrified to find the lead actor merely doing a shit imitation of Hulce's horrible caricature, that idiotic laugh, plus he added a stutter and a foot stomp to just about every line. So he'd blither, stutter, stomp his foot to stop the stutter and finish the line, then deliver that accursed, wretched caustic idiot laugh. After intermission I stayed in the lobby.

The point re Salieri (the character, the historical man, who knows) is that he could not accept that God had granted such talent to a man he could not respect. And that barely suppressed jealousy of course. But so it was, in spite of his rebellion against what was self evident, hence God.
I think its much like the elitist opinion of Elon Musk, if you want a direct IRL example. A bizarre genius.

As President Donald Trump has paused enforcement of an anti-corruption statute barring U.S. companies from bribing foreign officials, the Justice Department said on April 25. 2025 that it will move forward on one pending case involving an old target of the president and his allies.

Government lawyers told a federal court in Miami that they intend to continue prosecuting two executives at the voting machine company Smartmatic, who were charged last year in an alleged bribery scheme involving payoffs to win business in the Philippines.

Reportedly, funding Smartmatic’s costly defamation suit is LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, who did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the indictment against the Smartmatic executives.

In July 2024, Hoffman announced a multimillion-dollar investment into Smartmatic, which he claimed was due in part to ongoing defamation lawsuits filed against it by news organizations Fox News and Newsmax over claims of rigged vote counting during the 2020 Presidential Election. In a statement to the Washington Post, he claimed, “Smartmatic built a global business by using technology to engage citizens better, regardless of party or ideology, by making voting simple and trustworthy…After Donald Trump lost in 2020, however, Smartmatic became a target of the defamatory campaign to overturn his defeat.”

The political targets of the hit piece are mostly young people bantering amongst peers, where tabu words are often deliberately chosen for that very reason but the equivalence to a fairly high office holder fantasizing about violent murders of a man and his children WHILE he’s running for office during these ‘scary times’ where conservatives are being murdered…where a President avoided assassination under suspicious circumstances….we part ways on equivalence. The fact that over a million Syrian refugees have returned home from Europe so far shows that the stories of massacres are exaggerated, most likely by Russian propaganda.

Apparently the flags, with the swastika integrated into the red stripes, were sent to a bunch of R congressional offices. The effect is being called an "illusion," but the swastika is pretty noticeable even at a casual glance.

The photo shows the flag, complete with stick, pinned to a bulletin board, almost like a found object. It might have been put there innocently by a staffer who fell for the illusion. Or it might have been put up as a trophy, as in "see we stopped another stupid Dem trick," just like real WW2 vets displayed captured real swastikas and rising suns. If that is the groom next to her, this marriage may be headed for trouble.

Maybe even if not. What a weird crazy we reached!

Wal-Mart's Sam's Club Cola is already superior and less than half the price; made by Cott, iirc. The black one is every bit Coke Black no sugar IMO.

Man what a game last night! 2-4 Bengals do up the Steelers last minute showdown with the 2 ancient quarter backs, Flacco and Rodgers 33-31. That was sports and battling right to the end, Rodgers thought they had it in bag,but old man Flacco burst the bubble. Very cool. I dont follow either team but like a good game.

“I wonder if that's a Disney reach out to Republicans?”

Given it’s Disney, more likely a reacharound, lol…

I don't know about autocorrect, but I hate it that my phone wakes up when I pick it up. I can't for the life of me find where that setting resides despite numerous attempts on my own and searching for an answer online. Cumulatively, I've got to be pushing an hour on the internet looking for the solution with no luck so far.
