An old friend who lives in Chicagoland has written how aghast and afraid he is of Trump's latest moves there. I can imagine how shocking this is since Chicago and Illinois have always been models of Peace, Quiet, and Clean Government.
In Chicago, an ICE convoy was surrounded by cars that included a female with a gun. ICE shot the gal, who drove off and got medical attention. Chicago PD supervisors put out through dispatch that no CPD officers were to respond.

Yes, Chicago policy is not to help ICE. But at the point they're in a gunfight, you're not helping them with their mission, you're helping them defend their lives as Chicago residents and taxpayers. And oh by the way maybe help civilian bystanders who may have gotten hit by strays.

What Actually Happened According to the UN’s own investigation, the culprit wasn’t a globalist plot—it was likely a White House videographer. The videographer reportedly ran up the escalator and then back down, triggering a built-in safety mechanism designed to prevent accidents. That sudden movement set off the alarm and halted the escalator.
Teleprompter Trouble Too To add to the chaos, Trump’s teleprompter also malfunctioned during his speech. OK, I have been thinking about that statement that you have to climb Mount Cringe before you can sit with the cool kids, and I was reading about the life of Louis L'amour, and as a struggling writer, publishers told him that nobody would buy western novels written by somebody named "Louis L'amour", that he should have a name like "Zane Gray" and he even wrote under the pseudonym of "Tex Burns" until finally he insisted on writing under his own name, which now is synonymous with the genre.

Thanks to Althouse for helping me find Marc Maron podcast. I find them interesting the sometimes very entertaining. Maron is best when interviewing showbiz people, comedians in particular. He's also good at taking some old show biz type like peter Bogndavidich and just having him talk about his career.
His dullest interviews are when he does most of the talking. this is really annoying when he has female guests. He should be drawing them out, having them talk more about a particular statement or point, instead he charges on to the next thing.
The aside, I was amazed how dull his interview with STeven Colbert was. Mostly because Colbert is very dull. He's one of the "comics" that need a script and a character. Letterman who i dislike as a person, was very funny. So was Leno. But Colbert? Snoozeville.
