An old friend who lives in Chicagoland has written how aghast and afraid he is of Trump's latest moves there. I can imagine how shocking this is since Chicago and Illinois have always been models of Peace, Quiet, and Clean Government.
In Chicago, an ICE convoy was surrounded by cars that included a female with a gun. ICE shot the gal, who drove off and got medical attention. Chicago PD supervisors put out through dispatch that no CPD officers were to respond.
Yes, Chicago policy is not to help ICE. But at the point they're in a gunfight, you're not helping them with their mission, you're helping them defend their lives as Chicago residents and taxpayers. And oh by the way maybe help civilian bystanders who may have gotten hit by strays.
Will this FABRICATOR ever stop with her mess> Karoline Levitt STILL.... Escalator Incident at the UN During President Trump and First Lady Melania’s arrival at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2025, the escalator they stepped onto suddenly stopped. Melania had to grab the rails to keep her balance, and Trump later joked about it in his speech. Karoline Leavitt’s Reaction White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt didn’t find it funny. She publicly called for an investigation, saying if UN staffers intentionally stopped the escalator, they should be fired and held accountable. She cited reports from the London Times that UN staffers had joked about sabotaging Trump’s arrival. What Actually Happened According to the UN’s own investigation, the culprit wasn’t a globalist plot—it was likely a White House videographer. The videographer reportedly ran up the escalator and then back down, triggering a built-in safety mechanism designed to prevent accidents. That sudden movement set off the alarm and halted the escalator. Teleprompter Trouble Too To add to the chaos, Trump’s teleprompter also malfunctioned during his speech. The UN clarified that the teleprompter was operated by Trump’s own crew, not UN staff Does this group of people ever stop fabricating and whining? She is a real up the bosses butt type. This lady makes that other lady Huckleberry look like a portrait of veracity. Stop whining ,my Lord no tolerance for constant whiners.
Just watched "My Dinner with André" again, and wow, does that movie hold up. This blog is a lot like that movie, even Schopenhauer got a mention, just like he does here sometimes. Just a lot larger cast.
Wow! Who would have thought that Trump’s Gestapo would face resistance from the city they invaded. Decent people don’t like it when their neighbors are kidnapped and disapeared.
Maybe the Tridentine Mass people should have turned around when the little bells rang and jumped Biden's Gestapo infiltrating their services, too? CC, JSM
Yes! Because stopping people from gathering en masse during a pandemic is the same as masked thugs stuffing random brown people into vans and disappearing them, with no process.
OK, I have been thinking about that statement that you have to climb Mount Cringe before you can sit with the cool kids, and I was reading about the life of Louis L'amour, and as a struggling writer, publishers told him that nobody would buy western novels written by somebody named "Louis L'amour", that he should have a name like "Zane Gray" and he even wrote under the pseudonym of "Tex Burns" until finally he insisted on writing under his own name, which now is synonymous with the genre.
Amazon Best Seller List 1. 107 Days by Kamala Harris has slipped to #3. Interesting comments from Japan in the reader review section. (Awkward wording is a result of the translate feature.) “Eighty percent of the text is distributed as an appeal for the author's feelings and hard work, a grudge against family, and the remaining 20% is an appeal for ‘the importance of democracy’. While resources are limited, the sense of impatience and urgency of converging into a situation of intense defeat is conveyed so well that it is reminiscent of war memoirs (notes of German and Japanese officers and soldiers, etc.). However, the depiction is consistently limited to the perspective surrounding the author, and there is almost no strategic analysis or summary of causes of defeat . . . It is unsatisfactory for readers seeking political and electoral verification, and I have the impression that it is a book ‘for fans.’” (Comparing Kamala’s effort to the memoirs of German and Japanese officers? Ouch.) 2. 10 books on the list are by Freida McFadden. That’s a new record for her. She always has several books in the top 100 but this is quite an achievement. 3. Nicholas Sparks has partnered with M Night Shyamalan on Remain at #79. A supernatural love story.
Big brother watching me reading this video/post about Althouse careful walk up a stairway, and, feeding me this clip of Robert Redford adjusting to his age.
Maybe it's not just us "learning to love big brother" as much as it is Big Brother learning to feed us what somebody believes we need.
Thanks to Althouse for helping me find Marc Maron podcast. I find them interesting the sometimes very entertaining. Maron is best when interviewing showbiz people, comedians in particular. He's also good at taking some old show biz type like peter Bogndavidich and just having him talk about his career.
His dullest interviews are when he does most of the talking. this is really annoying when he has female guests. He should be drawing them out, having them talk more about a particular statement or point, instead he charges on to the next thing.
The aside, I was amazed how dull his interview with STeven Colbert was. Mostly because Colbert is very dull. He's one of the "comics" that need a script and a character. Letterman who i dislike as a person, was very funny. So was Leno. But Colbert? Snoozeville.
"What Actually Happened According to the UN’s own investigation, the culprit wasn’t a globalist plot—it was likely a White House videographer" Interesting that MSM has not attempted to duplicate the situation in order to humiliate .Karoline Levitt
Can anyone identify the font that is used for the comments on Ann’s blog? I just noticed that my handle is displayed with the 4 shifted low such that the horizontal strike is centered on the bottom margin. I don’t hate it, just curious.
Stinky dinky, what would you expect Levitt to do, except to order an investigation to find out what happened---especially when low-level UN morons had sent emails threatening to mess with the escalator? You're a neuron-depleted fuckwit.
I do love that Donnie Dementia and Kegsbreath lectured the generals about being fat and then Donnie’s obese ass is so fat is stopped the escalator. That’s comedy gold!

Well, I live in Virginia, and the local news is all about the democrat attorney general candidate texting about shooting his political opponents, and killing kids. Then, there's his 115 MPH reckless driving incident. Interesting times!
Two nights running of no hydrocodone - I think I'm on the downward slide with this knee! Dressing and irritating compression stockings go away Wednesday and I will be able to focus that much more on strength and range of motion work.

"Chicago PD supervisors put out through dispatch that no CPD officers were to respond."
I hope that's not true.
O'mike - go to the link from Second City Cop. It has a screenshot from the CPD dispatch system. CC, JSM
Sounds a lot like an actual insurrection.
Insurrection:
The act or an instance of open revolt against civil authority or a constituted government.
A rising against civil or political authority, or the established government; open and active opposition to the execution of law in a city or state.

Glenn Reynolds would agree.
Since the sombreros were promoted here they’ve multiplied tenfold. Even a couple are not from Trump…

TBH, that's beautiful. Hope you were saying that in the 90s about Clinton/Reno's Gestapo. CC, JSM

whole bookcase of L’amour books at the mils
