this is a neat time of year up here.. Every day has different colors.. Try to imagine/remember what things looked like a couple weeks ago? it's a different world.. and a couple of weeks, the trees will be done
The 2 photos made me think of life and beauty, such as:
"Though nothing can bring back the hour Of splendor in the grass, glory in the flower We will grieve not, rather find Strength in what remains behind."
Although I would question whether there a magical EKG that determines "cardiac age" as "14 years younger than chronological age". Even a typically dry, standard health report has to have that gushing North Korea state media flavor to it.
You must be getting your disinformation from Fox News, Kak. I’m sure Trump must be getting chiropractic radiation treatment for his stage 4 narcissistic prostate cancer. Fox is covering it up.
The serfs get played again. So the U.S. government, at a time of a government shutdown, just provided a $20 billion bailout to Argentina’s government to try and prop up their economy, which is not only unlikely to work, but more likely to enrich currency traders, according to the Financial Times. And it gets worse. As soon as the bailout went through, Argentina turned around and removed export tariffs on grains, shipping millions of tons of soybeans to China, while American farmers are blocked from selling those to China because of our tariff war.
So not only are we losing billions from our shutdown over whether or not to keep some U.S. citizens from having their health care premiums double, but we just sent American funds to Argentina which were used to help their agriculture sector undercut our United States farmers in selling soybeans to China. As you can imagine, American farmers and even Republicans from the Midwest are outraged by this deal.(not really they got what they voted for) American Soybean Association President Caleb Ragland posted to X. ‘U.S. soybean prices are falling, harvest is underway, and farmers read headlines not about securing a trade agreement with China, but that the U.S. is extending $20 billion in economic support to Argentina.’” Our farmers got played ,but I guess sometimes you get what you deserve. Qatar gets a new training facility in Idaho, Argentina gets $20 billion and MAGA gives us another shutdown beautiful. America first ,I think not. BOO!
The problem with libertarianism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.
Hilarious — the Trump administration is gambling in FX markets with taxpayer money!
I thought they were conservatives. This will end the way every long peso trade ends.
US investors hold 71% of Argentina bonds. Some large holdings with hedge funds that have connections with Bessent. This is the only reason this happened. Rob Citrone (Discovery Capital) an old hedge fund friend of Bessent will have a chance to get out before the peso falls again.
In the same 24 hr news cycle, Bessent warns that the Fed over-reacted with QE2, if not also QE1, AND promises that Treasury will do whatever is necessary to defend the Argentine peso. Huh? Is this a jurisdictional thing--the Fed vs Treasury--or is this another example of Trump playing favorites--Qatar last week and Argentina this week, but never the US debt and equity markets?
If Soros were 25 yrs younger, he might short the Argentine peso like he did the British pound in 1992 when he and an associate made a killing--at the expense of the Bank of England. The associate's name? Scott Bessent.

Lucky you! We are impatient for fall here in Dallas where today’s high will be 87.

I miss New England Fall but nit what it portends…
Meade's photo is quite ambitious.
It is super hard to balance the different light levels in a shot that wide in the morning like that.
AI could make it look "better" but people who understand photography would spot that.
First chilly morning in October for us. I think there will be some color when we get out too.
Not idly do the leaves of Lórien fall
Hostess wins this one. Sorry, Meade.

One of the most memorable things about Wisconsin for me is the beauty of the trees in the Fall.
Nice.
“Hostess wins this one. Sorry, Meade.“
But Meade’s has Hostess in it. Value added!
Video with Hostess in it: https://youtube.com/shorts/3wpr4l591G8?si=Ka9jFUdLjAcb7Su6
I added Meade's video to the front-page. I'm only "in" the audio.
Lovely! Just now getting some fall color down here in the South…
Trump got a Covid vaccine yesterday.
How is his health?
The Chiropractor who performed the exam says his patient is in excellent condition.
