"From there, he instructed the patient to strap into a corset for two months, until the ribs fused together in a new position. The result was a waistline reduction of nine centimeters, or three and a half inches."

I read that sentence and just felt revulsion.
Would this work for Pritzker?
How long before minors allowed to opt in and have it covered by insurance?
This is unlikely to end well.
She ticked them off: breast implants twice (one under the muscle, then a revision to move them over the muscle “because I wanted cleavage”), facial implants, eye color alteration,” she trailed off. Ms. Lasher is considering a Brazilian butt lift or maybe an inner thigh lift with Dr. Hadeed
Eye color alteration?
That sounds like a fun afternoon.
"her greatest regret is that her parents did not have the courage to bind her feet when she was a very young girl..."
It might work on Pritzker if you could find a fork-lift.
The problem is that 6 months of good eating and she'll back to where she was.
Dems will make sure we all pay for it with our hiked taxes.
Its funny how some leftists claim beauty and sexual attractiveness is "cultural". But of course it isn't. 36-24-36 is pretty the standard norm of beauty throughout the world. Maybe the measurements are different, but hourglass ratio is the same. Just as broad shoulders and narrower hips and height are markers for male attractiveness.
They are feminine facial features that are attractive with everyone. Small nose, small chin, big eyes, high cheek bones.
Anyway, if women want to feel better by having plastic surgery go for it. Whatever makes you happy. Although, future husbands beware, your future daughter may not look like Mom.
The term "butcher" comes to mind ...

My primary care doc - she has these framed drawings of women wearing corsets. Next to, is an image all off the internal organs that were restricted. next to that - a normal rib cage - where bodily organs like lungs, liver, kidney all that junk - allowed to live in freedom.
I bet they tested this on dogs.
I didn't know this is new. I guess just removing the bottom
one or two was the old procedure. This seems relatively tame compared to slicing vertically by each ear to slide your face around on your skull
Reminds me of the height surgery some men get where they break their leg bones to get a few extra inches in height.
Another sign that the end times are near.
Exactly, Peachy. I was at the Isabella Stewart Gardener museum last Friday and there's this infamous portrait of her by John Singer Sargent where she's corseted up tight with a tiny waist, bodacious tatas and a bubble butt. The original Kim Kardashian.
rehajm @7:49, that's what I remembered too.
[shrug] As long as the patient is an adult, the patient provides uncoerced consent (eastern European pimps come to mind), and insurance isn't paying, I guess have at it.

you want to see in a dress?
Pritzker's fat deposits were considered a shovel-ready job by the Obama Administration.
This just reinforces my prejudice that most plastic surgery is a violation of medical ethics (first do no harm). I have nothing against plastic surgeons who work with cleft palates and burn victims and similar issues, but if they only worked on necessary cases there would only be a couple of dozen employed. Butchers is indeed the correct description.
Imagine the biblical implications if rib removal became integral to male-to-female transsexual surgery.
Human depravity always seeks new avenues of expression. Surgery has provided such an avenue. Off with your testicles and breasts, implant enhancements into those that are left. Something for everyone, a comedy tonight.
Ugh, what women will do to impress other women. When a guy feels bad about himself, he goes to Lowes and buys a new drill.
The depravity is the same as it has always been since humans became quote unquote civilized. It's just the means and methods have changed.
Physiological dysphoria is a condition of confusion or dissatisfaction with one's state of evolution.
I am testing out a set of peptides right now on myself. One is an Ipamorelin/Sermorelin blend that promotes growth hormone release and cycle frequency. I felt like I was wearing corrective lenses the first day.
I have daughters that are genetically doomed to be around 5’ tall. It isn’t as bad for women to be short as it is for men but it still makes a difference. What should we do if we have the ability to hangs things?
There is little doubt that this woman will be more attractive and more successful after this surgery. Will it compress her organs? There are a lot of questions that I would ask about the surgery results and it probably isn’t the direction I would go. But I don’t see why people would be revulsed automatically.
It is interesting that she is being attacked this way. Professional and amateur athletes do way worse things to their bodies.

What is depraved about it?

Sumo wrestlers go through a process when younger to reset their hip and groin flexibility that makes what this woman did look like nothing. Very painful and a long recovery only possible when young.
Is that unethical and dangerous?
I wonder how many of the people on this thread using words like depravity and butcher are above 20% body fat and eating themselves into metabolic disease.
Or, you could try a diet and exercise.
..."What is depraved about it? "
Look at Jeff Bezos' wife and compare before-and-after photographs. Then tell us why you think women would chose that, and be happy at the end of the process. She's grotesque now, and she chose it as the wife of one of the world's richest men. In the world of 'women who had work done', she has a lot of company.
Athletes don't have the same body dysphoria that gender confused people have. It all comes down to the di torso that will do the mutilation surgery. They are going against their oath as a doctor and they know it. They belong to the oldest profession.
How ironic that so many successful, influential women are so insecure that they embrace the opposite of Liberation.
Auuuuugh! I can't unread this!
There’s a type of a woman who is extremely competitive in the area of looks. I’ve noticed this several times in Vegas. 3 or 4 women decked out in a group with their dates. The guys are just there for the gambling or whatever. And the women are eyeing each other up and down. It’s a highly competitive sport. I don’t think they’re dressing to look good for the guys they’re with. It’s strictly to one up each other. You probably get massive points for a smaller waist. Worth the pain.
Look into the history of foot binding in China. Women were the ones holding onto that practice - men were trying to stop it. Missionaries from the West did not mince words when they encountered foot binding; a blatant "WTF?" was the response. This practice of manipulating ribs doesn't surprise me. Instead of yammering about the patriarchy, more women need to realize their own role in such practices. It's as if Mother Nature has designed this competition between women for a reason.
Foot binding led to a really stable society in China. And yes it was the women who were instrumental in the practice.
Some people might pay money for 3.5 inches I guess. In my case it would be guilding the Lilly.
It’s also my theory (I have no idea if it’s true) that it led to the high population. The footbinding weeded out the less strong women who succumbed to infection in childhood due to the process. After that childbearing was a breeze.
(Grok)
It’s estimated that by the 19th century, when foot binding was at its peak, around 40-50% of Han Chinese women in certain regions had their feet bound. Some sources suggest that in elite families, the figure could approach 100% for women, while among poorer rural families, it might have been as low as 10-20%.
I’ve always thought ballet found its inspiration in footbinding but Grok says I’m full of it. Still not convinced I’m wrong. Although I probably am.
More on footbinding from Grok (sorry, but this is one of my interests)
The most commonly cited estimate is that as many as 10% of girls who underwent foot binding died from gangrene and other infections.

Women compete against other women by trying to sabotage other women or by getting more status and resources for their kids.
It is zero sum thinking applied to reproductive competition.
It just makes sense that women are more interested in things like foot binding than men are.
