Not sure I understand the distinction between "partying" and "bar-hopping," because it seems like a distinction without a difference.
Also, men should be allowed to wear shorts in any social/workplace setting that women are allowed to bear their legs. Fair is fair, after all.

If your club is soft then shorts are appropriate.

All the complaining about how fat people are nowadays. Zero of the people in the photos were fat. Yes tattoos, but fewer than I expected. Fashion wise, the young woman in the red cut out pants dancing. Enjoyed the photos, videos. Thanks.

…btw here in the south the youngin’s love dressy and not all of them are The Grove. Yah the guys are shorts but sometimes seersucker and a jacket. The girlie gurls all sundresses on the bike. Easy to tell when the gurls are New Jersey- stretchy pants and gym crap for the bikes…
I find the shoes that are barely shoes more inappropriate than the shorts. You might as well be walking around barefoot.

I was given a glass of "natural" wine by a Gen Z 'sommelier' and there was a taste in it that reminded me of a chicken coop, and not in a good way, and she said "oh, that's because they don't use sulfites, it can have a bit of the barnyard' in it"
Maybe it was some other chemical that they withheld, but if that is what they drank in the merry days of yore, they can have it.

Modern pop music sucks and so does the night-life that goes with it? shocking.
I don't think that anybody minds young men in shorts, it's us oldsters who maybe should accept that father time will exact his toll.

LOL. Not too often do I choose the dead-last option in an Althouse poll, but today was one such day ...
If it's hot out - wear shorts. I prefer shorts that are not too short. ...that goes for all 3 sexes.
What do we mean by "young people" partying? Are we discussing high school kids? College students? Twentysomethings? And what kind of "parties" are we talking about? House parties? Frat parties? Clubbing?
Intimate get togethers?
Then too, the media give people's ideas of "partying" a fixed form that later generations won't conform to: discos in the 70s, John Hughes movies in the 80s, and heck, beach parties and hippie hangouts in the 60s.
Maybe behind all this is somebody detecting a decline of a certain type of activity among a certain demographic and then generalizing it to a whole generation (or two).

Social, maybe; but not work. I fondly remember the ‘90s when some women would wear a suit where the skirt was above the knee or even mini length. Those were the days.
In the same situation, a guy wearing a suit jacket with shorts would just look stupid. Like an Angus Young wannabe.

I’m a Floridian. Shorts are daily wear for 95% of the year.
