From "The Charlie effect: how a political murder sparked a religious awakening/The shooting of Charlie Kirk has led to a wave of Christian fervour across social media. Even atheists claim to have been converted" in the London Times.
By the way, look at this insane and distracting distracting ad the London Times had right in the center of the page, right after the words "God's way of reminding us to live for him":

Live for him... indeed.

The algorithms know all…
Those ads are responses to things you do on your phone and other internet activity.
I know what my wife is looking at because they have tied our phone plan to Google Sense.
You maybe have some questions for Meade.
Over the next several election cycles openly being a Christian Nationalist will help you get elected.
Embrace the pendulum of history.
It's important to put the potato in the front when pulling that off.
AD is D-Party Approved.

Thank you for your attention to this matter!!
Charley would be amazed, incredibly pleased and grateful, and of course he would give all credit to Jesus.
Despite not being able to call myself a Christian, and not agreeing with all his positions, I can't think of a better role model than Charley Kirk, and If I had children, I would be very pleased if they were inspired to be like him.
For so many young people of the last 60 years, they thought faith was unnecessary in a kumbaya clown world where they'd have jetpacks and world peace. Instead, they're seeing a kumbaya clown world with precious few jetpacks producing lots of trannies, cynical multiculturalism, economic displacement, brushfire wars, and nihilistic accelerationism paired with violence.
Everyone was lied to and death may be near...no wonder many suddenly have faith on their minds.
Is that an ad for a new brand called "Disappointment"?
Reminds me of that old MADtv sketch called "Lowered Expectations"

The democrat party is pure lying evil.
Charlie Kirk's murder - is proof positive.
People seek relief... from the vile religious cult that is the modern Democratic party.
RSM: you have no earthy idea how crazy it was to grow up in the era of political assassinations, the Vietnam war the Cuban missile crisis horrible riots and violence racking every major city choking pollution all over the country burning rivers in Ohio. Kumbaya my ass young man. Maybe you would have a little bit more understanding why nihilism took over for so many people who lived under that cloud. It sounds like you are hoping for a kumbaya moment in a world of Jesus freaks praying to God that Israel doesn't start world war 3 just like the Bible predicts and just like the Evangelical Christians hope and pray for every day. 💪🤪🤙
rhh: you would think they would have used a big American russet for that photo shoot
Howard emotes:
" just like the Evangelical Christians hope and pray for every day."
bullshit.

I don’t know about RSM but I’m starting to get it…
Well none of those briefs has a fly, so they do make it a little more difficult to whip it out. And they seem very tight and restrictive. So almost like chastity belts. CC, JSM
"political assassinations" - check
"missile crisis" - check
"horrible riots" - check
"violence racking every major city" - check
"choking regulation raising utility bills to unbearable levels"- check
Oh...I think they have some idea of how crazy it is, boomer.
Most people who do not ever attend a Christian Church - assume it's all just like that weird caricature of tele-vangilist.
News-flash - Its not.
Most churches worship services are NON political. People gather to praise the the Lord, read the gospel and try to apply it to modern life. Often the discussion are around various Charites and people gather and do good things for others.
the total opposite of a leftist life.
If you must italicize - after you close it - type some regular text.
please.
It was a human rite. The religious awakening will not be advertised, but brayed nightly at The Twilight Fringe.

Agreed. I am a pretty poor Christian, but my wife and I have not missed Sunday services since the assassination, and I have tried harder than ever to eliminate hatred and venom from what I say in person and online. It's a challenge when dealing with these people...
If you want to "be fruitful and multiply," wear some nice, loose boxer shorts.
The HTML tag to un-italicise seems not to be working properly.
Maybe this will do it.
Italics begone! Did that work?
Once more
Also trying the "em" tag: - Any better?
Ah! that solved it.
All it takes is the close italics html. The trick is to make sure the "I" doesn't turn into a capital "I" — as you can see both of the ones I just typed did. Put the up first, then cut and past a lower case "i" after the first bracket.
And by "Put the up first" — I mean put up the angled brackets with the slash
I did that, Ann, but it did nothing. Closing the "em" tag did succeed. I suspect that rehajm used an "em" tag to open his comment and an "i" tag to close it.
(or a faulty "slash em" tag to close it.)

HTML tags are supposed to be indifferent to capitalization. If that's how Blogger works, it's a non-standard implementation.
I know their implementation of the "a href" tag is non-standard. Took some time to figure that one out.
And I used a capital "I" for both my opening and closing tags in the comment above.
I use both "" and "" to close Italics on my comments, and in that context it works the same. On occasions when I fix the italics from previous comments, I use "" just in case.
The left has the Church of Kimmel. Their new Messiah!!!
Well, that underwear would be a little too tight for me, up front.
Leftists worship their political beliefs and the pastors of lies - Like Kimmel, Colbert, Maddow, MSNBC and NPR.
Wait - NYT calls it a political murder, yet the D and MSM pundits/talking heads say it is just a "guy with issues" and therefore there is no cause or no one to blame.

I did too. And more. Thalidomide, polio, Khrushchev the start of the cold war.
Guess what?
Still here.
sometimes I make deliberate errors to annoy the censors but usually vigilant about closing italics. I shall redouble my effurts…
If I use a lower case i to open italicswill an upper case I close the tag?
Now we know...
Well now this is getting interesting. I have to repeat the test.
This can't be non-deterministic...
I've noticed that a lot of small internet advertising tries to be "eye catching" by showing weird images like this.
I get that same ad and have no idea what it is and have never to my knowledge looked at anything even vaguely similar.
Do they come with the filling. You know, for trans men on date night.
@loudogblog, a small 'advertisement' the size of a large 'advertisement'? Clearly caught someone's eye😉

The vaxscheme, Covid, Putin and the start of the new Cold War...we're all still here.
Charlie Kirk's life and death haven't affected my attitudes or opinions at all, and they definitely haven't made me more spiritual or changed anything about my own relationships.
I haven't even talked about it to anyone I know. My wife had no idea who he was and that's fine with me.
There are a lot of similarities between the 1970s and current events, including imperial overstretch--which the US was coming down from and the USSR was ratcheting up.
Now we are heading for some imperial overstretch on the part of all of the Big Three: USA, Russia, and China. Look for Globalization to end with some bangs.

It seems that AI algorithms put random images on random sites, and then track which ones get clicks. Even Youtube thumbnails involve 2 or 3 three variants in hopes of drawing your eye again. Some ad images make no sense at all (i.e., Where would the b*lls fit in these items?).
This method follows from TikTok's success.
I had a Toyota ad in that spot.
It’s because Christians now know that Democrat running dogs mean us harm and that the leftmediaswine will run cover for them.
Heavy attendance at my church. A member church of the decidedly leftist Presbyterian Church U.S.A.
Makes you wonder.
"This can't be non-deterministic..."
Oh, yes it can…

Woo hoooo
They're too busy trying to figure out what part they are on the gender unicorn, William50. I'll take the nuke drills any day.
I can't figure out how the black one works.
"Let me know when they have nuclear attack drills in schools."
Those were fun.
Its somewhat annoying but X percent of the population does dumb or odd things. "Hey, I'll go to Church - after all Charlie would've wanted me to". Which dumb or odd things get picked out and publicized is up the MSM.
"Its somewhat annoying but X percent of the population does dumb or odd things."
True enough. Some people bitch about the Jooooos every chance they get.
it was a reminder of the evil, that lies among us, we didn't consider the dimensions of
renewing ones faith, is the farthest thing from dumb,
“ you have no earthy idea how crazy it was to grow up in the era of ….”
We didn’t start the fire
It was always burning
Since the world was turning….
Come on, everyone sing along!
C’mon, folks… is there a bigger musical hack than Billy Joel?
Mitigating progress for a viable and great America, again.
Looks like Bible Seller stocks are suddenly the best investment since Gutenburgh invented printing.
And suddenly many more people want to read scripture which is what makes faith come.
Hassayamper @ 11:42 AM,
Your comment completely misunderstands how HTML works--in particular the who does what, where part. Blogger isn't doing anything wrong hair, and it isn't misinterpreting the HTML tags
If you write italics, blogspot.com just sends the raw unadorned <i> and </i> and it's your browser that does the rendering. Same thing with capital I versus lowercase i... the HTML specification says case does not matter in tags, so if it comes out wrong when the case differs between opening and closing tags, it's your browser that's at fault.
