Surf is up! Poor winds are on it so the shape is less than desirable. I'll leave this double hurricane swell to the young people. In my dotage I'm something of a "four foot and under wonder" and these waves will be macking at up to 10' on the sandbars. Already here in North East Florida there have been break throughs along our coast road A1A (The Jimmy Buffet Highway) at Summer Haven which is hard by Matanzas Inlet. Words of Wisdom from a Beach Cracker - Never build on property that God still has an active hand in: ocean front, earthquake fault lines or at the foot of a volcano.
All the hot air in DC today is shielding the US coast.
or perhaps the icy reception...
Get a room, you two! Seriously, it's better for them to be doing it to each other than to be doing it to us!
A right turn that spares America is a meteorological metaphor for climate change.
Those smooth-talkin' Caribbean latin types......

May Imelda and Humberto live happily ever after. Such a cute couple. They were made for each other !
Pretty funny.
Humberto wooed Imelda…
In this country, first you get the money. When you got the money, you get the power. When you get the power, then you get the women.

And the hurricane ran away... eloped? with the storm.
@Heatless Aztec - I hope all the money they spent on A1A in the Flagler Beach area was worth it. It's gonna take a pounding.
“It's gonna take a pounding.”
Kinda like teabaghag’s tonsils!
Humberto is the big eye... guy, and Imelda is feminine petite. Tropical differences.
Too bad Chuck's not here. He could regal us on hurricane paths and Trump's Sharpie.
Just got home from golf this morning in Hollywood, Fl. Beautiful weather in the high 70s, a little breezy but very pleasant.
Mankind's nuclear weapons are like a kid's cap pistol compared to the energies of great planetary storms such as hurricanes—even here at home on seemingly tranquil and beneficent Earth.
According to the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the energy released by your average everyday earthly hurricane or typhoon over the course of just a single day lies in the vicinity of 5.2 • 10¹⁹ Joules.
At 4.184 • 10¹⁵ Joules/megaton of TNT, this is a yield (in nuclear weapons parlance) equivalent to more than 12,400 megatons—a quantity far greater than the capacity of all of earth's nuclear arsenals (even at the height of the cold war) combined—while once again, that's energy expended every day that the hurricane continues.
From that one can see that the energy of nearly 10 WWII Hiroshima atomic bombs [16 kilotons TNT] is liberated by just run-of-the-mill earthly hurricanes (unlike the huge one we've been talking about) every second—hour after hour, all day long, over many days!
The storms clearly fear a government shutdown.
North Carolina coast is my neck of the woods… One tragedy is enough, apparently, according to the weather-gods.
Fascinating to see how these storms in close proximity react to each other, though.
Opposite vortices bounce off each other; same spin vortices merge.
Humberto promised Imelda she could have as many shoes as she wants.
Another stormy relationship…
This has made Mrs. Bar, who is currently at Myrtle Beach, very happy.
It's just raining here and not like the summer thuunderrboomers...meh, which is A-okay for me...
