*Warnings:
• Although South Park Studios posted this on YouTube, it is the end of the episode, so it's a spoiler, but I don't think that matters much, and they obviously don't either.• There is some male nudity.
• Trump is exalted but also humiliated. I think both Trump haters and Trump lovers can be entertained, depending on psychological complexities I would not pretend to plumb in this list of warnings.
I watched this episode last night... after forking out $119 for an annual subscription to Paramount+ Premium. I paid precisely because I wanted to watch this episode, which I'd heard was great.
I was entirely satisfied. The animation of Trump is inventive. His Canadian-style detached head and pronunciation of the word "about" suggest an ongoing narrative — perhaps that he was really born in Canada and that's why Canada needs to become the 51st state. There are the new problems of living in post-"woke" America. Cartman — and the show's writers — are deprived of the material they liked to satirize and so life may not be worth living. We laughed a lot and are planning to rewatch.

…that mind reading. He’s supposed to be humiliated. All I see is his opponents are bankrupt, at their end, humiliated…
Same old joke. Why are they so obsessed with penises?
Well I laughed! Not a common event in the media landscape, except reading commenters here.
Trump is 6’ 3” and of German and Scottish heritage. I’m taking the over…
"Why are they so obsessed with penises?"
Trump's opposition is mostly gay-flavored and women.
I thought you could watch South Park on Max, but I see now they only go up to 2023. The last thing I need is another subscription, but I do think I have a free trial if I want to use it. Maybe I can catch up on Landman as well.
Why am I so obsessed with breasts and butts?

Trey Parker and Matt Stone recently signed a 5 year, $1.5B deal with Paramount. Note to Colbert fans; It's not political, your boy just ain't funny!
I am reminded of Swiss Army Man.
Talent and creativity get $1.5 billion deals. Colbert’s stale and humorless product gets cancelled. Which to the left is proof that Facism has arrived in America.
The last thing I need is another subscription
Yah. Resist! Eff you Peacock…
I have never been entertained by South Park.
Not once. I am at a loss as to why the show is so popular.
Proof, once again, that all attacks on Trump are projection.
@Peachy, for a generation it is an acquired taste...usually acquired because there wasn't anything else on.
Politics aside - The voices. I cannot get past those voices. the squeaky annoying- cannot understand a word --voices.
This show is worth a billion? Words fail me.
Not once. I am at a loss as to why the show is so popular
I’m with you Peachy. I’ve tried as equal opportunity offender satire and low brow is in my zone but sometimes bad is bad. More confounding is why a fop like Ann goes for it…
Just watched the clip. They uses AI to create a real looking real life Trump - totally naked. Perhaps Trump should sue?
I hear Trey and Bob or whoever those a-holes are - have lots of money now.
"I thought you could watch South Park on Max, but I see now they only go up to 2023."
They made a deal with Paramount for $1.5 billion dollars for 3 years of shows (and the full archive).
"Just watched the clip. They uses AI to create a real looking real life Trump - totally naked. Perhaps Trump should sue?"
It worked for Hulk Hogan to sue Gawker when it was really him.
In the words of Bob Dylan: "Even the President of the United States sometimes must have to stand naked."
1.5 billion for that?
Peachy - take solace in knowing that Trey and Matt used their billions to restore Casa Bonita there is your home town!
Not once. I am at a loss as to why the show is so popular.
It is good parody. The episode on Harry and Meghan was hilarious. It is like Babylon Bee in long form.

😅 This made my day. On brand!
One shouldn't miss the point of satire. My mother used to hate the Simpsons, while I saw it as sometimes-brilliant satire. The point of this satire is not about making Trump into a fat buffoon, with a tiny penis - that is both obvious and ridiculous, low humor. The point of the satire is at least equally about the people that would portray Trump this way, and would think it normal and acceptable, even witty or funny. The Simpsons used to do this all the time.
I don't think South Park's writers are as stupid as you think.
I don't fully understand why I've never liked SP either. The voices bug me, but Rick and Morty had annoying voices too, and yet I always thought that show was wildly funny. There's no one likable, but there was no one likable on Futurama either, and I liked that. I think South Park tries too hard to be topical; I'm always standing outside it, thinking about what they're going to be satirizing, until - as always - they make it obvious.
I am glad they restored Casa Bonita.
Casa Bonita was headed for destruction and they saved it.
They did a nice job restoring it. Although my only complaint is they cut off a lot of the mine shaft seating.
Trey and Matt (not Bob) share a love of the band "The Cure" - as I used to be a nut job fan of that band. There is a bar on the lower level next to the pool where the divers land. Ask the bar tender to push the button for the dancing skeletons... the song played as the skeletons dance is the intro to the classic Cure song called "The Blood" I realized it immediately - and was filled with joy.
If you look at the comments section on that video, it's full of people that think South Park really punked Trump with that AI clip - not recognizing exactly what types are being portrayed by that satire. That's the sign of good satire: One doesn't quite know who its target really is, because the portrayal is scathingly revealing of human foibles, to the edge of embarrassment.
The f*ck your feelings crowd sure got their feelings hurt by South Park.
So they recycled the Saddam Hussein jokes from 20 years ago. And got paid 10 figures for it. I admire their financial acumen.
The Simpsons - that show works. I've laughed my ass off.
Tho - I don't watch it much anymore.
Tom T - Yes. the voices. I cannot get past the voices.

No Clinton or any other Democratics! lolz.

It was an ok episode. I get the satire around garitrump. Of course the opening bit, about Rick not wanting Garrison to go to any of THOSE places had me thinking of something else. So that subverted my expectations and I found it quite funny. I thought the recycling of the whole Saddam thing was derivative and not very funny. I wonder though, why they never seem to make fun of any democrat politicians. Biden was absolutely primed for satire, but nothing...
Disappointing. It wasn't particularly funny.
Trey and Matt are all cozy with CO gov Jared Polis. Not impressed with that at all.
Polis is a charlatan and a total fraud.. and it turns out - a lying troll.
Polis demanded that his vanity project (a curvy walkway to the capitol) be complete before he leaves office - he demanded it! 30 million! It will be done - he said.
Now - that the idea is so vastly unpopular- so much so that even local NBC "news" Comrade Kyle made a video against it - Polis is now saying he will not build his vanity project - and he never wanted to.
Fuck off.
.. and that's why Canada needs to become the 51st state.
We don’t want all of Canada. We don’t want Ontario or the Maritime provinces, and we for damned sure don’t want Quebec. Just Alberta, Saskatoon, the Yukon, and maybe British Columbia. Not sure about Manitoba
I'd definitely watch it, because these guys are seriously clever and I'm an equal opportunity satire kind of guy...but not enough to pay $119.
AI works both ways. I’m waiting for Trump to Truth out a South Park-style video ripping SP along with his usual punching bags.
Maybe Trey and Matt in bed with Rosie O’?

Six months from now, Trey and Matt are at an event hosted by Trump. As they shake hands, Trump leans in and whispers something. Matt and Trey laugh. Asked later about what Trump said they report, "He said, 'I saw your episode with me in the desert. Thank you for being so generous.'"
Why would Trump say that? Because he is tiny? No, because he can take a joke. Some of y'all need to lighten up.
Peachy: I remember being shocked the first time I heard the lyrics “paralyzed by the blood of Christ” on WBCN Boston when that album came out.
Or maybe I was paralyzed.

Terminally butt-hurt Rich is talking about conservatives' feelings being hurt? LMAO
I can never forget how it used to feel….
"We don't want all of Canada."
I don't want any of it, thank you very much.
I was late to SP fandom, and now have seen most of the episodes. Liked the Trump excerpt--as some have already observed it's a Rohrschach, as good satire should be.
As it happens, Canada is a major punching bag on SP. The Marriage of the Prince and Princess of Canada is a classic.
I don't need to watch anti-Trump humor. After 10 years of it, I find it boring. And the vulgarity of SP always got on my nerves. But some think having a talking dick or farting is hilarious. IRC, the scene in "Blazzing Saddles" that gets the most laughs is the bean farting scene. That's 'murica!
"We don’t want all of Canada. We don’t want Ontario or the Maritime provinces, and we for damned sure don’t want Quebec. Just Alberta, Saskatoon, the Yukon, and maybe British Columbia. Not sure about Manitoba"
Ontario is very nice for fishing and canoeing, though I don't know their politics. BC is lefty. Saskatoon is a city (been there once); you probably meant Saskatchewan. I'd say we definitely want Alberta, and the prairie provinces are ok; they're conservative and agricultural. They might be good for keeping Alberta from feeling lonely.
Yes to Alberta.
john mosby..
Yes!
"how it feels to be dry... walking bare in the sun"
kinda fits the episode.
I suspect SP is prepping the comedy battle space with this Trump satire. Even this take on Trump is becoming hackneyed by now.
The immutable comedic fact is Trump's enemies are a greater font of new material. They would be fools not to use it.
Kak-a-poodle - nothing compares to the left's obsessive hatred of Trump. You all tried to murder him. You all can go f yourselves.
I didn't find it as funny as many SP episodes. But I also was not offended. We conservatives can laugh at ourselves. Even the ones with small penises.
The link between Trump’s hatred of being laughed at and his vengefulness needs no stressing.
Trump’s Obama Derangement Syndrome is going on 15+ years. Sign of an emotionally ill man.
Which should mean he is plotting something extremely petty and vengeful after this week's South Park episode, as it gave Trump everything he deserves.
Obama Derangement Syndrome?
Oh, you mean being upset and wanting answers when it's been revealed that your predecessor pulled every underhanded trick he could to undermine your presidency?
I stopped watching SP several years ago. I felt it was losing its edge. That happens when a show goes on to long. Same thing happened with the Simpsons.
Also, I thought Casa Bonita was made up until the SP guys restored it. Much like when I saw the episode of The Simpsons where they went to "America's wang" otherwise known as Florida and attended a Kid Rock concert I thought he was made up as well. I did not know that he was an actual person.
Well - Trump is president - and HILLARY WILL NEVER BE PRESIDENT. lololololololololol
Hmm, all I'm getting is a video of Hulk Hogan at a Trump rally.
They did a whole season parodying Trump's first serious presidential run: the bizarre transsexual school teacher Mr. Garrison ran for president as Giant Douche, their Trump parody. At least I think that's what they did. They did a lot of funny stuff over the years, but like The Simpsons, the show has gotten old, tired, and tiresome. Family Guy, I hated from the beginning. American Dad, I never watched.
Jim Gaffigan does a hilarious routine about Canadian geography of all things (St. John and St. John's, Nunavut, etc.). He only scrapes the surface. I've always wondered: is Lake Winnepegosis what happened when Lake Winnipeg caught a disease?
Saw the clip. Hated it.
From the comments on Youtube, it looks like they inherited Colbert's fan base. Liz Cheney's too.
Nunavut, a.k.a. "Bob".
I never thought Althouse would be the place I learned about a new season of South Park. Welcome to the fold, Ann, there is SO MUCH to like about the series.
I am unimpressed. It's not as if Trump is difficult to satirize, but these jokes about his penis and his fragile ego are about ten years old, and lame. It seems more calculated to get a response from Trump rather than a genuine attempt to skewer him through humor. They can do a lot better than this.
I thought it was hilarious but then again, I’m kind of a street guy. For me, Trump has always been a tough guy to like. And still is, but I will say this he is an extraordinary man. I know this will drive the discrepant voices crazy but there you have it. Absent all bullshit considerations, the guy is flat out a real man warts and all.
The thing about South Park is that they make fun of everyone equally; so you don't feel like you're being lectured at. There's a difference between ridiculing someone for humor and just simply insulting someone bacause you vicerally hate them.
Also, it will go totally unnoticed by all the people who are running around with their hair on fire about Colbert that Matt Stone and Trey Parker will suffer no repercussions from Paramount over this. After all, they're still funny and they're still bringing in the ratings.
I found it tacky. Doing trump as Moses would have worked with him repeatedly leading the "chosen" people the wrong way across the desert.
A question to ask yourself, would they do the same sort of thing to Obama? Remember the rodeo clown?
If your humor approach doesn't really go both ways, it may not be humor.
Peachy said...
"Perhaps Trump should sue?"
There are no grounds to sue. This is being presented as parody, not fact.
Hollywood leftists like the south park guys were shocked when Trump won in 2016 - Before the election they were painting the trump supporters as eating "member berries" and fantasizing about a Big border wall and "No mexicans".
In other words, your day is past white man. LOL.
Then Trump won. i don't think they ever got over it.
The SP made fun of Mormons, and before that had basically said Jesus Christ was a turd. Hahaha, went the dumbos.
Strangely, their attacks on Judaism are far and far between. Wonder why?
I caught a few episodes of South Park maybe 20 years ago.
Whatever.
Hard to wrap my head around 1.5 billion.
I’m still waiting for the hardcore Islam episode. They’ve parodied Islam before but always with kid gloves. Imagine if they portrayed Mohammad similarly to how they blasted Trump. They would probably already be dead.
"RCOCEAN II said...

Give it a rest RC. You remind me of the old joke about the sex fiend and the Rorschach test. Not everything is about the Jews.
Kak: "The link between Trump’s hatred of being laughed at and his vengefulness needs no stressing."
You clearly have no problem being laughed at.
I laugh at Trump as much as I laugh with him, but this is lame for SP. It's recycled, and I don't get the funny beyond what you might see on a bathroom wall at the beach.
It seems like you could buy episodes from Apple TV+ for $2.99 apiece.
Stone and Parker both received gerbil 🐹 implants 6 or 7 years ago. It has had a debilitating effect on both of them.
I voted for Trump.. I thought that was funny.
First time I wish LDS hadn't disbanded the "Danites."
Welp...it's laugh out loud funny. Period. I cannot imagine anyone being antagonized by it. Funny stuff. Looking forward to watching the entire episode.
It was very crude in parts. But it was also very funny in parts. The 60 Minutes snipper cracked me up
"I think both Trump haters and Trump lovers can be entertained,...".
What a novel concept.
Exemplified, of course, by the church choir and John Stewart singing "Go "F" yourself". Over and over and over and over. I'm still laughing, still crying, still gasping for breath. What a classic.
THAT will be the cornerstone used by historians when they write about Great Comedy of the 2020's.
I like Trump - warts and all. I laughed, as I do at every SP episode. Parker & Stone are gifts. The precious exist to be punctured.
