Elon Musk has announced he will create a third political party in the United States called the "Ross Perot Party."

The last time this happened, we got Hillary Clinton.

What's all this about No Kings? Doesn't one of our national holidays celebrate a King? Stop tearing down the past - I, for one, still admire Martin Luther King.

A short time ago I posted the Amish had purchased 100 acres above my “ranch”. The actual sale of the property closed 2 weeks ago. The permitting process in PA is apparently quicker than California. The barn and the temporary house are completely under roof as of today. Makes me laugh.

I suppose it helps there is no electric required.

“And ringing telephones”
Tell it to the birds.
About 15 years ago (when most cell phones sounded alike) we had a mocking bird in the neighborhood who imitated the sound of a cell phone. After the 40th time of frantically looking for your phone, not funny.

Ann suggested or inferred that we should have sympathy for Joe Biden because he is dying from cancer. I dissent. I hope he has a painful death and it takes him many months to die.

Why? Am I heartless?

Many Americans were killed by illegal aliens who Biden let into the country. But for his unlawful policy, these people would be alive today. And we don’t even know the full extent of the rapes on the trek to North America. Or the women and girls sold into sex slavery.

After Biden dies, he’ll burn in hell forever for his sins. FJB.

"Tell it to the birds."

My brother used to breed parrots. He had an African grey in his barn that would do a telephone ring and a car alarm.

When I was a kid, back in the days of steam television, the New York TV stations would mute the sounds of sirens when showing movies. Shooting was still going on in Korea.

I hope he gets what he deserves. I think that would be fair.

Seconded, but for a different reason.

That asshole wished a painful death for those of us who refused the worthless 'vaccine.'

Real presidential, that guy. Wishing death upon citizens of the nation he's supposed to represent.

He wished death for me. It's only fair I return the favor.

Who was it that celebrated the arrival of fabled Camelot in 1961? The glorious kingship we all voted for.

Jamie said...

I'm not going to wish a painful death on anyone, even my worst enemy. Not only would Christ not do it (and not wishing it on someone else is literally pretty much 8the least I can do to try to emulate Him), but what difference does a painful death make if you believe that there is eternal life, with punishment, atonement, and judgment?

I'll go beyond that: what difference does a painful death make if you DON'T believe there is eternal life? If you won't exist after you die, what difference does it matter to you if your death is painful or possible?

So no, I won't wish a painful death on anyone.

Jim at said...

I understand that, Jamie. And your words are well-taken.

Thirty years ago, I would've shared your opinion ... to a point. But I've changed my thoughts about the afterlife. There is one. In what form is where my views have evolved.

"I hope he has a painful death and it takes him many months to die."
It is entirely justifiable to hope for the death, or incapacitation, of a person whose activities are causing extreme damage to the lives of persons you care about, and to try to bring about that death or incapacitation, in order to put a stop to those activities. But to take pleasure in someone else's pain, is -- to take pleasure in someone else's pain. Where does that stop? How much pain is enough for you? Are you up for pulling his eyeballs out with fishhooks? Hanging her by hooks through her breasts? Hey, pain is pain. On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you long to inflict?

Jupiter said...

Pain and death are the Enemy. To wish pain or death on another person is to sup with the Devil. How long is your spoon?

Trump is aging in office. That big front of him is getting bigger, and his profile... you can see the lean.
I don't think he will die in office. If JD is elected, I do think there will be a push to assassinate him by foreigners. He put on the uniform even, he is a more legit target considering how crass and ugly American chest-thumpers have become. They choose violence. Sadly, the circle does not always hold and others play the games American pick and often can best us at our own game...

Pray for peace. Pray for the passing of the violent old ignorant guard and the acceptance that as America and Americans evolve, the more violent and hateful amongst us will do no more harm to the innocents and God will stay the hand of those hurting women and children for their own personal gain...

Dave Begley: During his first term (2017-2021), Trump's administration deported approximately 1 million people , though more recent data suggests the total reached 2,001,280 during this period. The Biden administration significantly surpassed Trump, with 4,677,460 deportations as of July 2024. And none were sent to a Salvadoran gulag as has happened in 2025 and neither were U.S citizens nor carded aliens picked up. Further all the crops got picked in farmers fields and orchards and Trump's facilities hired as many aliens as they wanted.

Officials in Texas are casting blame on the National Weather Service (NWS) for failing to forecast catastrophic flooding that has killed at least 43 people.

NWS was among the government agencies targeted by the Department of Government Efficiency in its effort to gut the federal bureaucracy, losing approximately 600 staffers.

After the cuts, the agency—which was already understaffed—began to prepare to offer “degraded” forecasting services, facing “severe shortages” of meteorologists, according to an internal document obtained by The New York Times in April.

Ten inches of underforcasted rainfall in Kerr County brought flooding that killed at least 43 people so far, including 15 children. More than 25 young girls from Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp that sits near the Guadalupe river, are still missing.

But Trump pledges that his administration will help now. And where were all of those Texas National Guard troops activated by Governor Abbott weeks ago when needed?

One might be first inclined to resist such a hope or to default to an empathetic human state but to do so is to ignore what happened, who was doing it and why they were doing it. They perpetrators are monsters and deserve any hell they have coming but I will always have contempt for those who walk amongst us who were complicit or duped or were thoughtful yet helped enable it to happen. We weren’t all in high positions to stop it but resistance and questioning was always an option…

No. I'm with Jamie on this one. I do not wish him well, but I don't wish him evil either. The god of the universe is infinitely merciful, which fills us with hope. He is also infinitely just. Which should fill most of our hearts with dread.
Joe Biden is living his punishment. Old, confused and in pain. Surrounded by people who only see him as a source for money. Not concerned about his comfort or welfare. I don't wish that on anyone. Even Joe Biden.

And I’m with Jim at. Sorry Jamie.

And unlike Althouse I’m very, very, skeptical about the alleged Stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Which urologists is he seeing? Which oncologists? The announcement of his cancer was a shade too convenient for getting people to leave him the Hell alone when he should be facing the same sort of legal harassment he inflicted on Trump — except, of course, that the Democrat legal teams had to create new statutes by shredding old ones while Biden’s crimes, esp. bribery, are real and obvious.

Put me down with Team Rusty and Jamie.
Mercy. He's a victim, Joe Biden is. It will only get sadder from him here on out. Hunter and Jill ... they're beyond reach now. Hunter WAS convicted, and pardoned. The Biden clan will have to live with one another, even with all their riches. That's their punishment. Just like the Bushes have to go on being the Bushes, the Cheney's the Cheney's... do any of those look like happy healthy people to you? We need to stop giving them air, same as the Clintons and Obamas. Focus on the country and just ignore those who "led" us to where we are today... They got theirs. Now they have to live with it.

I'm better than seeking a pound of flesh, or praying for painful deaths myself.

Well, here’s what CNN, of all ultra-right wing news sources, had to say:

“Tom Fahy, the legislative director for the NWS employees’ union, told CNN that while he believes the offices had “adequate staffing and resources,” the Austin-San Antonio office is missing a warning coordination meteorologist — a role that serves as a crucial, direct link between forecasters and emergency managers.”

The coordination meteorologist from that office took advantage of Trump’s early retirement buyout and — months later — has not been replaced.

Underforcasted? Ten inches?
I don't think we are getting the full story here.
Are there no non-government meteorologists in the area? Did the local TV and radio stations, whose primary draw seems to be hyping the weather, not report on this? Is the press that ignored the people in Tennessee and NC who got wiped out by massive flooding under Biden now blaming Trump for the weather? (Of course they are).
