Has Tulsi Gabbard resigned yet after Trump said that he didn't believe anything she said or care what she said?

I would still welcome suggestions for my unsought but now obligatory baby bird responsibilities.

The bird appears to be gaining strength and has eaten quite a bit of mush, given its size (though I'm thinking it might be a jay - as baby birds go, it's pretty big! That or I'm fostering a grackle, oh joy). Damn these maternal instincts - I'm getting attached to it.

I understand the progression is hatchling-nestling-fledgling-out. Not sure what I'm looking for to consider it a fledgling. It is still very unsteady on its feet, but has developed grown-up feathers on its wings. Its head and tail are still downy.

I'm off to google developmental stages, whether it really is a jay, when I should be hunting bugs for direct feeding, when I can expect it to fledge - but of course now I'm also wondering if I've totally screwed this baby by imprinting it on me.

Any helpful information welcome!

Actually, Tulsi’s comments specifically reflected the IC’s assessment of Iran’s nuclear program, which seems to go against Iran’s own claim. Also, Trump’s statement was he “didn’t care what she said” [in response to a specific question about the IC assessment], which is not at all the same as “he didn’t believe anything she said”. If Clinton or Bush said they didn’t believe the IC assessment on Iraq’s WMD, would they have been wrong?

Iran is going to set off a nuke tonight the world will remember for centuries.

I know this because RedState quotes Breaking911 on Twitter, who reports Iranian State Media:

"There is a surprise tonight that the world will remember for centuries."

Breaking911 doesn't provide any evidence that they said this. Breaking911 doesn't show video of state media. Doesn't quote a person by name. Just throws up a quote.

You just have to trust Breaking911 Bro.

But that apparently is how you get clicks in the conservative exosphere®. Because there's no downside to posting up complete and utter garbage in the conservative exosphere®. There are only momentary click gains to be had.

Jaq hurts his own credibility when he does that.

Does the IC assessment agree or deny that Iran has enriched uranium to a higher degree than is used in power generation reactors?

It seems clear from the reporting from multiple outlets taken together that Tulsi’s testimony accurately stated the position of the US intel community on Iran’s nuke program, Israeli intelligence disagreed with it and felt Iran was further along, and Trump sided with Israel’s assessment.

Either: 1. Israel’s intelligence was more accurate, which is certainly possible; or 2. They exaggerated their report to manipulate Trump.

Kind of stunning how much less stable the world has gotten in fully less than a week.

First term Trump, at least at first, was surrounded by people who knew he was a moron. He's now surrounded by people who genuinely think he's a genius. You might have different views on which one's "worse", but this one probably does make major catastrophes more likely, in every sphere.

OK, this is Wiki-freaking-pedia: "Iran is currently enriching uranium to 60% purity (close to weapons-grade), and has been accelerating its nuclear advancements by installing more advanced centrifuges. "

Finally was able to get ahold of the new Buckley Biography by Sam Tanenhaus and am reading through it. 860 pages, and 28 years in the making. Just noticed several odd thing about it.

First WFB lived from 1925-2008, yet the last 28 years of Buckley's life (after Reagan election ) gets 50 pages.

Second, Buckley tasked Tanenhaus with writing his biography in 2000, and gave him access to all his papers and asked his family and friends to cooperate with him. Yet, it took it 25 years to complete the book.

60% purity (that is, 60% U235 40% U238) is nowhere near weapons grade. Each step up in purity takes a lot more effort and energy then the previous step up. Weapons grade is widely considered to be 90% U235. 93% if you really want to be sure. U233 is also easily made into bombs- but little exists naturally. It forms in TH232 reactors.

Jamie said...

Thanks for the advice, all! I think I've got a baby northern mockingbird here, maybe. Tomorrow I'll be contacting Texas Wildlife as a starting point - though I expect they'll be mad at me for disturbing it in the first place (which, heck, I'm not *happy* with myself about it, but my lovely neighbor was *right there* so I couldn't just walk away and let nature take its course!)

I am seriously concerned about imprinting. But it's fricking hot here and I really don't want to don a ski mask every time I feed it.

Cats and hard sidewalks are the next hurdle. Baby birds sort of jump out of the nest when they think they can fly but often just land on the ground. I think we used to put them back and then the mother would resume showing them what you do with wings. So perhaps you need a costume with wings. Or else you have to teach it drive but that will be harder.

I gotta say it cracks me up when these AWFL and AWML Karens' demand to 'see the warrant', as if this is some kind of a citizen right. I'm surprised they don't 'demand to see the manager' when this isn't received favorably. ICE should get some medals for patience and professionalism in the face of this torture. I'd be tempted to say 'our warrant has room for one more, you wanna join?'

I had two hummingbirds dogfighting (they're very territorial and tend to fight over our feeders) over my pool a while back and one actually knocked the other down into the water. It was fascinating, the hummer spread out his wings before he hit the water and was floating there looking like a downed WWII fighter plane, but kept his head above the water.

When I saw that I jumped up from where I was sitting and ran to get the pool skimmer to fish him/her out. When I returned with the skimmer pole (this had taken me about 30 seconds) the hummer was gone, apparently having flown. Birds are amazing creatures.

He fooled me. I believed him. "America First means many great things...." including exactly the opposite of what he told us it meant, but that was just pretending for advantage. Today Trump also cut off negotiations to normalize relations with Russia. What's the point of diplomacy when the President is an outright liar who can't be trusted on any thing he says.

I guess I wanted to believe. That's what he took advantage of, a lot of people who wanted to believe that he believed in the peaceful settlement of conflicts through diplomacy and negotiation. It was all a ruse.

I guess we'll find out in 3-5 Y. If Iran is worse than it is now - if they have a bomb and can blackmail the world and runs all the traffic around the red sea and strait of hormuz - well that's bad. I don't know what he could have done to avoid that outcome.

If instead Iran is a western-aligned country - monarchy or benign dictatorship or - we can hope - democracy - and islamofascism has been defeated - well I think in that case - and you would agree - Trump joins the pantheon of the greatest leaders ever. Probably below Washington and Lincoln but above Reagan and Thatcher who merely had to stand strong and spend a lot of money on defense.

It looks like a lot claims in this thread are being based on a deliberate misquoting of what Tulsi Gabbard said, which was Iran wasn't actively building *a bomb*, not that they weren't actively trying to obtain the materials (specifically enriched uranium) and tech necessary for one.

From Ace at AofSHQ

The quote was that Iran isn't currently building a nuke, not that they weren't working hard to build a nuke. Fox News war-whore Jennifer Griffin is misquoting her to push her Democrat-Deep State agenda, as usual. Tulsi has clarified that she and Trump are on the same page with regard to Iran's nuke program.

Sarah Ferris @sarahnferris
DNI Gabbard tells us she and Trump are "on the same page" when it comes to Iran nuclear timeline

"Pres Trump was saying the same thing that I said in my annual threat assessment back in March. Unfortunately too many people in the media don't care to actually read what I said"

Mockingbirds are extremely protective and would fight a hawk if it messed with their young. Also, state bird of Texas and protected, but we have reasonable bureaucrats in this state.

As for teaching to fly, they eventually start hoping around, sort of skipping in the air. If you can blow air at them, they’ll open their wings and then nature sort of imprints on them. Once it fledges, it will need a few days of feeding because it won’t know to how to get food. Then it will find others and figure it out.

Trump has just discredited himself. There was a deal on the table regarding Iran giving up all uranium enriched beyond civilian levels, Russia had agreed to take custody of it, that's what scared the neocons. A deal would have kiboshed their war, and after they turned Syria over to the head choppers of ISIS in order to clear the air corridor for their bombing campaign! That would have been "ironic" in the Alanis Morrisette sense of the term, after all of these years, and all of these wars, being denied the prize by an agreement? Unacceptable!

If Israel manages to bomb Iran back to the Stone Age, it's gonna be warlords running the country, and it's not going to be hijabs, it's going to be burkhas. But... they will be easily bribable, so that will be a win for us. We don't care about Iranians any more than we cared about Libyans, Syrians, or Ukrainians.

CNN reported on Tuesday that “U.S. intelligence assessments had reached a different conclusion” from the one reached by Israel — “not only was Iran not actively pursuing a nuclear weapon, it was also up to three years away from being able to produce and deliver one to a target of its choosing.” The outlet cited “four people familiar with the assessment.”
Assuming, for purposes of argument, that CNN's statement is correct---does this make you feel better?
It kind of scares the shit out of me.
Is the world more stable or less stable if Iran has a working bomb?
Iran, a terrorist state, is also the third-highest exporter of petroleum in the world. Exactly what is their pressing need for nuclear power? (As noted above, they do not need enriched uranium for nuclear power).

There’s a lot of flak in the air with respect to what’s happened and happening. Trump has done surgical strikes before and weathered any political repercussions. This seems to be a similar prospect, though it has the notable differences of being driven by Israel’s timing of its war, and the unknown re what’s really in those deep sites. Any damage we may do must be contained and our presence fleeting. The only reason we’re in the mix is because of our tech, nothing more. If Israel had it, or had other approaches to destroying the deep nuke factories, we’d stay on the sidelines.
Trump’s goal is still a deal that results in Iran surrendering, giving up uranium enrichment for good, including the dismantlement of all facilities that support it.

I saw a Bald Eagle steal a fish from an Osprey yesterday. Tactics are pretty simple, fly above the Osprey, threaten with it's talons, and force the Osprey lower and lower until it drops the fish, at which point the eagle loses all interest in the Osprey and grabs the fish. A few days ago, a friend reported an Osprey in trouble on the beach with blood on it. I presume it refused to honor the taxman. He went looking for it later and couldn't find it. I suppose it gathered itself together, and flew off sadder and wiser.

Osprey population on the Bay are diminishing again, due to low chick survival, and some people suspect it's because the commercial Menhaden fishery in Virginia is taking too much of their primary food source. Maybe it's true, but I wonder if our burgeoning eagle population doesn't share some of the blame.

Iran, spitting in our face to the world, made this agreement on 9/11.

The result, less than a month later, was the attack on Israel and the taking of more American hostages. All Trump is trying to do is clean up Biden's mess. Risk vs Reward.

The United States is risking very little here. The sum total of our investment here is sailing some ships to Bahrain.

The potential rewards are cheap oil, leverage with Russia, China, and Europe, and lasting peace in the Middle East for a generation.

There is still a lot that can go wrong. But most people who step back and view this from a purely Americans first standpoint will come to the conclusion this is a well planned operation that is worth the minimal risk we are taking.

trump dismisses all intelligence by his hires, leads by tweet with a confused mind first it is then it isnt like tariffs and now the lie NO NEW WARS is a faked yu ut didnt I routine...A top MAGA pollster has warned that the Republicans may lose the majority in Congress “for the next decade” if President Donald Trump gets the U.S. more closely embroiled in the Israel-Iran conflict.
Big Data Poll Director Rich Baris took to X on Monday to argue that “Starting new foreign wars never helps a presidency. But it sure as Hell can end one, especially one predicated on not starting new wars overseas when we've been invaded and neglected at home.”
“The MAGA movement was never anti-war for the sake of being anti-war,” he added. “It was a position stemming from the lies the ruling class used to get us involved in pointless wars. Israel needing to attack Iran ‘preemptively’ because nuclear capabilities are imminent, is a lie.” More RIGHT WING WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION nonsense leading to unwinnable wars and death to Americans. They 'll use the worn out AUMF again to validate all the killing because no one in CONGRESS has a spine.. THE NO PLAN GROUP in charge WTF...

Emergency White House staff meeting going on right now! The Ship of State is leaking and may sink! They just heard that Althouse commentator 'Jaq' is "done with" Trump and now thinks he's a "schmuck", and are desperately tossing around ideas for damage control.

Most of us think having 'Jaq' on the other side is an excellent sign that Trump is on the right track.

Not that I expected much, but Mamet on Gutfeld! last night was disappointing. He obviously had trouble figuring out what Gutfeld! was asking, and his analogy to Paris in 1944 must have left many people shaking their heads.

I give it a C.

It looks as though three Iranian presidential planes have left Tehran for Oman. They are filled with high ranking Iranian government officials if witnesses on the ground can be believed. Further High ranking military officials are looking for someone Israeli to surrender to. According to Israeli sources. Much of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard around Tehran have gone home.
Trump is such an idiot!

Hey a little more heat to ad to trumps disaster "ignore intelligence ,claim WMD'S and drop the bombs,,' A PRACTISED SCENARIO BY REPUBS ....ANYWAY What Are X-Class Solar Flares?
X-class solar flares are the most powerful type ofsolar flare, categorized based on their intensity. The X1.2 flare released on June 17, 2025, represents a major burst of energy. To understand its potential impacts, it’s important to grasp what a solar flare actually is. Solar flares are sudden bursts of energy from the Sun’s surface and outer atmosphere. These eruptions can emit radiation across the entire electromagnetic spectrum, from radio waves to gamma rays. The most significant effects of solar flares are felt in radio communications, GPS navigation, and even satellite functionality. Additionally, these flares can lead to increased auroral activity in Earth’s polar regions.

The intensity of X-class flares is particularly concerning because they are capable of disrupting the Earth’s magnetosphere, creating disturbances known as geomagnetic storms. These storms can affect power grids and satellite communications, with the possibility of cascading failures across various sectors. NASA, in collaboration with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), tracks these events to predict and mitigate their effects on Earth’s infrastructure.

Our neighbor feeds them the pine squirrels he shoots. Puts them out on the pier.

I just said this yesterday and it makes a lot of sense for a country that has nothing to lose and trump keeps his idiotic statements by tweet on killing people. NY POST PROTARAS, Cyprus — Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei may be attempting to activate terrorist “sleeper cells” across the West as he repeatedly makes inflammatory statements rejecting President Trump’s calls for surrender, Middle East experts say.
As Iran is increasingly squeezed by Israel — losing far more than the Jewish state has in the nearly week-old war — Henry Jackson Society research fellow Barak Seener warned Wednesday that Khamenei may be seeking to awaken terrorist Iranian sympathizers across the world as he runs out of traditional resources.
“The very fact now that the Iranian regime is volatile, it’s targeted, and it’s highly vulnerable — that’s what actually makes it increasingly dangerous to the West, in that it has nothing to lose it has this about this sense of nihilism, and it affects the rational calculus,” Seener said during a call with reporters hosted the America-Middle East Press Association.
Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei could possibly activate terrorist “sleeper cells” as he has rejected to surrender to President Trump, in the latest attacks against Israel. Blowing up schools, shootings and basic terro is what they are known for and with this inept group of people in admin probably be pretty easy ,Hegseth, Gabbard, the dog lady, ALL INCOMPETENT... wouldnt be a surprise If trump doesnt stop his leading by tweet with his stupidity he'll just invite the trauma..

"With Iran, is best to be safe than sorry."

Some people just need killin' because, you never know. Is that right? This whole "You never know" bit has been the cause of endless US wars, all across the globe.

"and islamofascism has been defeated"

Like in Syria? Like in Afghanistan? Like in Libya?

Afghanistan and Libya are populated by goat herders living in the first century. Iraq was closer to that population than Western civilization. Same for Syria. I live in Los Angeles. Iranians are certainly what most would say is a unique people but they seem to love freedom and modernity and prosperity and largely share Western values. And were that way until the Islamic revolution. It's apples and oranges.

It seems to be a low-risk, extraordinarily high gain gamble. Our risk is attached to dropping one to two bombs. That's our entire commitment. The gain - destroying the world's greatest state sponsor of terrorism and bringing an extraordinarily grateful population to western civilization again - is immeasurable.

It's not a bad gamble. And if it succeeds Trump would go down as one of the greatest leaders in all of world history. Not up there with Churchill but greater than Reagan and Thatcher who only fought a cold war and presided over the inevitable collapse of the communist empire.

Aggie--I agree with your point. My point is that even in the unlikely event that the "IC" is correct, that is not comforting, or even evidence that Trump and Netanyahu are in the wrong here.

If they're not building a bomb there's no reason to enrich the uranium. If they're not building a bomb there's no reason not to let inspectors in. They're building a bomb and to be frank, anyone who doesn't see that is an idiot and should not be allowed on a computer.

Original Mike, did you end up eating the fish? Hard to get fresher than an eagle catch.

40 minutes up the mtn from us is the now semi famous big bear eagle nest. Live cam is amazing. Watch from conception to laying, hatching, feeding, now fledged 2 eaglets this year. After 2 years of nonviable eggs it was amazing to watch

LOL, no. Either one of them could have had it if they'd come down to get it. But I guess they considered me too big a risk. They probably scolded each other, "Look what you made me do!"

I put it out on the pier, and it was gone later.
