I remember back in the 1970s somebody asked if Lake Mendota had some outlet to the ocean, because of the number of seagoing craft motoring around on it. Not all of them could fit through the locks at Tenney Park.

Republicans did.

It's not Democrats vs. Republicans.

It's both of them versus us.

On CNN and MSNBC, the Dems and Fake News are blaming Trump for the riots.

I’m sure the Trump Administration has war gamed this out with Plantair. I suspect a massive show of force.

And even the most far Left federal judge in LA shouldn’t interfere with the President’s right to deploy the National Guard; especially after the Palisades fire fuck up.

@DaveBegley

You should be paying attention to dataRepublican's feed on X. She's done yeoman's work detailing which Democrat NGO's that Republicans have been funding who are behind these astro-turfed riots/looting.

That's right. Republicans are funding this, mostly through USAID grants (Democrats, of course, have been directing the grants to their NGO groups, but House Republicans gave them the money to start with.)

I hadn't noticed this before, but it's true.

Why are there Palestine flags at an anti-ICE protest?

Maybe the protest was never really about deportations. Maybe it was always about sparking a color revolution. The flag color motif does match Mexican flags, after all.

(Note there aren't many Venezuela flags!)

"Gluttonous Marxist Democrat Los Angeles City Councilwoman Eunisses Hernandez is leading the violent protests to attack Federal Immigration agents. She supports abolishing the police and prisons. She's also announced her re-election campaign for another term on the Los Angeles City Council. She's a radicalized open borders Democratic Socialist of America who led a campaign to stop the expansion of the Los Angeles County Jail. Now Los Angelenos get to experience the brunt of her insane actions as criminals rob, rape and violate their way through the communities of Los Angeles. And the same lying Los Angeles city council members who have been tasked with rebuilding the burned down community of Pacific Palisades have endorsed her re-election campaign. Yeah, that's far left loudmouth Democrat Congressman Maxwell Frost with Eunisses Hernandez in screenshot 2 and Bernie Sanders in screenshot 1. The Democratic Party and their far left extremists will destroy the United States if they are not voted out of office and removed from power."

Matt Walsh makes an outlandish tweet:

Remember, folks. White South Africans don't belong in South Africa even after 400 years.
White Americans are invaders in America even after 500 years.
But the third world illegal migrant who got here last Tuesday is just as American as anyone else and if you call him an invader you're racist.

Dave Begley said...

Trump was President during the George Floyd riots. He’s not going to make the same mistake again.

FormerLawClerk said...

@Peachy, who wrote: "Republicans are not paying for these Leftist riots."

What dataRepublican has found is that indeed, these protest are being funded by Democrat NGO's who got their funding for the last two years as a result of budget bills passed by the Republican House.

Republicans control the federal budget, and have since 2022 midterm elections, when Kevin McCarthy was elected Speaker. He was ousted by Republicans for funding Democrat initiatives and was replaced by the current Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson. He continued funding Democrats throughout the remainder of Joe Biden's presidency.

FormerLawClerk said...

@Dave, who wrote: "Trump was President during the George Floyd riots. He’s not going to make the same mistake again."

Trump wrote on Truth Social today that it is his intent to liberate Los Angeles from those who have taken it over.

Grok: "Yes, President Donald Trump stated on June 8, 2025, via Truth Social that he had authorized officials to "take all such action necessary to liberate Los Angeles from the Migrant Invasion, and put an end to these Migrant riots."

So, to clarify for those keeping score ... Los Angles was LOST on Trump's watch and he's now ordering people to re-take it. To liberate it from those who have taken it.

This is not me saying that. This is TRUMP saying that.

He has made the mistake again, because he is again on defense, after losing ground to our enemy.

In the end we were always going to have a showdown with the gangs and terrorists and agents for other governments whom Biden allowed across the border. And I think this is it, so it's important to note that the crowds aren't large. The "crowd" shots are tight shots as if they were shooting a Kamala rally.

Also it's being said, by datarepublican, that Federal taxes are funding the NGO which is paying for printing the signs that "concerned citizens" with heavy foreign accents are holding. Surely "incite assaults on ICE buildings and personnel" was not listed among the NGO purposes on the grant application. And, anyhow, 501c's are supposed to stay out of politics. Astroturfing and Rent-A-Mob isn't the easy form of deception it used to be.

So it’s a puzzlement, why do these protesters always wave around foreign flags, either Palestinian or Mexican? Why not American flags and those other flags as a sign of unity of purpose. My thought is that Americans are unusually sensitive to how their flag is treated. Americans get upset when the American flag is dragged on the ground, is soiled, is burned. And the organizers who provide the accoutrements of protest simply can’t trust their rent-a-mobs to treat the American flag with the respect Americans think it deserves. I’ve watched how the flag wavers treat their flags. I think it would anger Americans, whether liberal or conservative if our flag was treated the same way. Is that a plausible partial explanation?

wildswan said...

Wildfires, mob fires - California lets tinder pile up and then it burns. The California mobs are the hard core left so they are ready to assault and burn at City Hall and select ICE locations and the California "government" would let them. In fact, the California taxpayers are financing the mob leadership from inside NGOs, according to several news stories. So strong Federal intervention is necessary. But this is not a community-wide response. It is the hard core down around City Hall and at select ICE locations with foreign flags and slogans. Arcadia for the American elite.

Big Mike said...

Also it's being said, by datarepublican, that Federal taxes are funding the NGO which is paying for printing the signs that "concerned citizens" with heavy foreign accents are holding.

@wildswan, not quite. According to the latest (that I’ve seen) from “DataRepublican (small r)” the “foremost” NGO behind the riots is the Coalition for Humane Immigration Rights (CHIRLA), and the signs show they were printed by Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL). The former is an NGO funded primarily by $34 million in grant money of which $450K is from the federal government. The source of the bulk of the remaining $33,550,000 is believed to be the State of California, but as of the latest tweet DataRepublican is still probing.

The latter organization, PSL, is technically a political party of the socialist stripe, and not a 501(c) organization at all. It is therefore funded by donations and not federal tax dollars.

Stay tuned. I’m sure there’s more to come from DataRepublican.

I think the robocars story is important because it marks a less than an auspicious beginning for an emerging entity that should it succeed in doing what we believe it to be capable, we’re are going to have to grant them something, some kind of protection, privileges, rights. I don’t know.

Maybe. Another possibility is that they don't like the American flag, and have no reverence for it. They think of themselves as citizens of the world.

It's truly dumb to wave another country's flag, taunting Americans that you don't like our country. You have free speech rights, same as any human being. But if you're here illegally, the smart thing to do would be to keep a low profile and not break any laws here.

Update to my comment at 5:19, based on additional information provided by “DataRrpublican (small r).” PSL is an avowed Marxist-Leninist political party. It appears to be primarily funded by billionaire American businessman Neville Singham. Here’s what Wikipedia says about and ille Singham:

“In 2019, Singham started a consulting business with partners who are active in the propaganda apparatus of the Chinese Communist Party and who co-own a company with a municipal government that promotes anti-poverty policies.

A socialist and supporter of Maoism, according to The New York Times, Singham has provided significant funding for media outlets, organizations and politicians around the world that promote pro-Chinese government propaganda.”

My own view of Mr. Singham is that he figures the CCP will take over the world and he hopes for a place at the table when they do. Or, if not, he hopes to be the last capitalist stood in front of the bullet-pocked concrete wall.

From the US Department of Trandportation:

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy today released the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Compliance Review Report finding that the California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA)’s high speed rail project is in default of the terms of its federal grant awards. The detailed report, which is over 300 pages, contains 9 key findings including missed deadlines, budget shortfalls, and overrepresentation of projected ridership. The two grants total roughly $4 billion in taxpayer money. As the letter notes, CHSRA has up to 37 days to respond, after which the grants could be terminated.

In a letter to CHSRA’s CEO, Ian Choudri, the FRA noted its report identified a trail of project delays, mismanagement, waste, and skyrocketing costs. The project has received approximately $6.9 billion in federal dollars in roughly fifteen years but has not laid a single high-speed track. Even with continued federal support, the project is far short of the funding needed to finish just a fraction of the track.

I've read that A.I. is very, very good at chess. Better than any human.

So it's kind of remarkable to find out that A.I. sucks at poker. Nate Silver -- who likes to play in the World Series of Poker -- asked ChatGPT to run a poker game.

That is some embarrassing glitches from the robot. Like, HAL is a fucking idiot bad.

I'm always pulling for humanity. And I hate our future A.I. overlords.

Anyway, poker is cooler than chess. And AI sucks.

Now I want to watch WarGames again.
