"Kate Middleton was effortlessly elegant as she attended Trooping the Colour to honour the King on June 14."

Tatler reports.

An interesting contrast to America, with our "No Kings!" rallies and critique of Trump's military parade and offense that it's happening on his birthday.

Wikipedia: "Trooping the Colour is a ceremonial event performed every year on Horse Guards Parade in London, United Kingdom, by regiments of Household Division, to celebrate the official birthday of the British sovereign, though the event is not necessarily held on that day. It is also known as the Sovereign's Birthday Parade. Similar events are held in other countries of the Commonwealth. In the UK, it is, with the State Opening of Parliament, the biggest event of the ceremonial calendar, and watched by millions on TV and on the streets of London."

Our No Kings crowd were happy enough when it was Obama on the throne.

why won't American Dem-leftists - who are propagandized to the point of insanity - accept election results?

She's looking pretty good, holding up well under the cancer treatments. I kind of like having royalty somewhere on the World Stage, when they're taking on their role with a principled approach, rather than being toadies to consensus, and it's nice to see a youthful line emerging. I hope her recovery is complete and complication-free.

'No Kings' live coverage, well.... looks like the 'millions expected' are turning out to be venue-dependent. Sometimes hundreds, maybe thousands, maybe dozens. Metropolitan Bedias, TX didn't rate Live Cam coverage, but I'm assured the 'crowd has been peaceful'.

UPDATE: 'Crow'. The crow has been peaceful.

Is Canada having any 'No Kings' protests? No? Maybe they remember how the truckers were treated.

According to Wikipedia:
"As of 2025, there are 43 sovereign states in the world with a monarch as head of state. There are 13 in Asia, 12 in Europe, 9 in the Americas, 6 in Oceania, and 3 in Africa."

HAH! Another thing to thank the British royals for, poking holes in the hypocrisy of celebrity culture. And all just by existing!

Trooping The Colour is a ceremonial parade celebrating the official birthday of the British Monarch. It is a traditional ceremony that displays the regimental flags and the soldiers of the British Army's Household Division including the King's Royal Horse Artillery.

We ain't got no Monarch's in the Unitied States - so what is your point?

Kate Middleton is a commoner who became royaty by first sleeping with (for a decade), then marrying Prince William.

I'm pretty sure the Wikipedia count doesn't include the Burger King.

What is who's point, barfly? You'll have to narrow it down. As for Kate being a 'commoner', why that's very democratic of them - wouldn't you say? I don't really care if she's a 'commoner' to prissy snobs. I think she's a class act, but then, I think that about Melania too - because she is.

Here we see the violence inherent in the system.

The Princess of Wales' effortless elegance is the result of the efforts of a staff who see to her clothes, hair, shoes, and makeup. It doesn't hurt that she has an elegant demeanour and is not hard to look at.

Since George III, Trooping the Colour always happens on a Saturday in June because of the likelihood of fair weather that's not too hot. It's the reigning monarch's office birthday not matter what calendar date he was born on.

The Colour referred to is the Brigade of Guards' standard. Marching it around before all the assembled soldiers was originally a ceremony to ensure that they all recognized their standard (the rallying point) so that in case of being scattered by an enemy's charge or some other situation that disrupted the units cohesion, the unit could rapidly reform into its coordinated structure. Consequently, though the monarch attends the ceremony as the titular commander-in-chief, he's not the center of attention. Rather, it's that flag.

Though the annual parade began during the reign of Charles II, such ceremonies of recognition date back to at least the Roman republic. A typical legion of the Punic Wars was composed of subunits known as manipuli (literally handfuls) of 120 men each. Each manipulus had its own standard that marked its rallying point. A legionary was required to recognize the standard of his particular maniple and rally to it. Rallying to the wrong standard could earn you a severe beating. Manipular standards were suspended from poles surmounted with a bronze hand signifying the concept of a unit of many parts exercising power as one entity. (The eagle standard stood for the legion as a whole and was sacred to Jupiter and thus an object of worship.) These standards were so important to Roman tradition that the icon of the raised open hand was retained even after the reforms of Marius replaced the manipular legion with a new legion structure based on much larger subunit called a cohort (480 men).

I watched it while waiting to walk over to the Army 250 parade. Best part for me is all the smartly-dressed people in the stands. Ladies with church hats or fascinators. Men in linen or seersucker with Panama hats. Some men in morning dress with top hats! At the helpful direction of a sergeant standing in front of the crowd, they all got up and down for the many playings of God Save the King as each regiment passed.

Second best part was after Charles returned to Buckingham Palace, he stood by himself on a tiny review stand in the gate and took one more salute from the lads who escorted him there. Almost like real-life Babar or The Little King.

Why is she "Kate Middleton" when she's the wife of the heir to the throne? Shouldn't she be "Princess Katherine"? And later "Queen Katherine"? I'm no fan of monarchy -- life-long republican that I am -- but if you're going to have royalty shouldn't you have royal titles?

Once a decade or so isn’t much to ask that our country recognize those who serve and protect us. This is about the US Army. They deserve this honor.

Given that the UK Monarchy is toothless and has no power, it'd probably be better if they changed it to give Females first shot at the throne, and then only defaulted to men. They're just celebs at this point, and I'd rather watch Queen Kate than dull Prince Charlie.

Few things make less sense in 2025 than royalty, if they ever did, especially in a modern western nation. I could have a little understanding if they were all 7 feet tall with full flowing hair, able to run the 100 meters in 8 seconds, and living as long as Social Security recipients in the U.S., but they aren't even attractive, except for the ones they marry in. It's kind of gross at his point with a lot of gross history.

The American skank has all that too. Yet, she was and will always remain just that, a trashy American skank. You can’t buy charm, intelligence and elegance. Classy wins every time, and marcle grabs attention for all the wrong reasons, she is a pathetic joke. Kate is a swan with a natural appeal. Marcle is a show off from the trailer park with terrible hair, can’t she afford a hair stylist with taste? There’s strength in silence. Trailer trash has a big mouth, no style, no grace and no dignity. The woman is a pathetic and desperate loser.

Shouldn't she be "Princess Katherine"?

Her official title is HRH Katherine, Princess of Wales. She used to be The Princess William but went by the Duchess of Cambridge.
The UK media claims to persist with Kate Middleton for search engine reasons, but it's really to remind people she married in. Funny how anti-monarchists stress that distinction.

Katherine, the Princess of Wales, along with Prince William, provide a great contrast to the debacle of Harry and Meghan. All Harry and Meghan had to do was smile, make babies, wear the finest tweeds and drive the newest Range Rover. Yet they couldn’t do it. Katherine brings decorum to our fast fading world of niceness.
