"ISRAEL. DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS. IF YOU DO IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES."

Writes Trump, just now, at Truth Social.

Background: "Live Updates: Trump Lashes Out at Israel and Iran as Fragile Truce Is Tested/Mr. Trump suggested that both Israel and Iran had continued fighting despite a cease-fire that both had agreed to, adding to the uncertainty over the truce he abruptly announced Monday night" (NYT).

The fate of a truce announced by President Trump that went into effect early Tuesday hung in the balance, as the Israeli military said Iran had fired another missile barrage and vowed to retaliate.

The claim from Israel’s military came just hours after the country had joined Iran in agreeing to the truce, spurring cautious hopes for an end to 12 days of unprecedented warfare between the adversaries, and as both sides seemingly claimed victory in the conflict. Iran’s military denied firing missiles after the cease-fire went into effect, according to Iranian state news outlets — adding to the uncertainty....

UPDATE: An hour after the post quoted above, Trump posted:

ISRAEL is not going to attack Iran. All planes will turn around and head home, while doing a friendly “Plane Wave” to Iran. Nobody will be hurt, the Ceasefire is in effect! Thank you for your attention to this matter! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.

And immediately after that:
IRAN WILL NEVER REBUILD THEIR NUCLEAR FACILITIES!

Don't you DARE do that. You hear me? Hold it right there! You put that ice cream in your mouth and you are in very, very, VERY big trouble. Don't you dare go anywhere beyond that... Put it down right now. I am not going to say it again. I am NOT going to say it AGAIN.

My first thought is that Israel is continuing to fight so that a when Trump gets the IDF to stop, then Donald’s Nobel is certain. Rigged.

Well, neither side is above a false flag, and our news media is not above lying.

So I am going to look at this from giving Trump the benefit of assuming good intentions and a genuine desire for peace, and if that is true, which it may well be, then his peace deal is going to make people like John Bolton or Bibi Netanyahu choke with rage, because the point was never the uranium, which was more highly enriched than Iran needed, but which there was a deal that Iran had agreed to by which all of the highly enriched uranium was going to be handed over to Russia, and Iran was going to stick to the stuff minimally enriched for civilian nuclear power, which deal, had it succeeded, would have *removed the pretext* for regime change in Iran.

Well, this latest peace deal has the exact same effect, and the same people who blew up the last deal 13 days ago, or whatever, that Trump's point man, Steve Witkoff, had negotiated would naturally want to blow this one up.

It's not obvious that Israel would want this war to continue right now, as Western air defense missiles have been getting burned up at a pretty high rate, and certainly Iran could plausibly claim victory right now, so why they would want it to continue, I don't know.

But plainly, the minute the shooting stops, Russia is going to supply Iran with highly advanced air defense systems to replace the homemade ones that Israel just tore to shreds like a terrier in a barn full of rats, and there are people shitting in their knickers about this possibility.

Note: Not reading the replies, they just draw me into arguments. These are just ideas that you can read and reject, if you like, but that don't get presented in the NYT or on Fox News, though places on YouTube, like Judge Neapolitano's many guests, or The New Atlas, or The Duran, etc, and anybody who wants to genuinely understand what is happening ought to hear all sides. Though many of these guys are outright rooting for Iran, for instance they just don't want to talk about Iran's high enrichment, they do provide fact-based analysis that doesn't get aired on the Networks.

By the way, I predicted in the post yesterday that since the only way Iran can defeat Trump is to break the truce and the only way Israel can continue to shoot Iranians is to break the truce, then they will break the truce.

Took 14 minutes to get there.

So, when does the USA start shooting at the Israelis to restore order?

BTW, our "regime change" in Syria, that put the head choppers in charge, and led to the installation of an ISIS terrorist who had a $10 million dollar price on his head as its leader, has been on a campaign of killing Christians, in that country. The latest being a church bombing that killed and wounded scores. Not sure why our results in Iran would be any better, but apparently, despite Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, etc, people still believe that this time it will be different.

I'd assume the cease fire counts for the launch time, not the arrival time. In WWI the bullet firing time and arrival time were close enough so it didn't matter if they fought to the last second.

While this is definitely how to raise a sociopath, President Trump is reminding Israel multiple times of how he feels.

"ISRAEL is not going to attack Iran. All planes will turn around and head home, while doing a friendly “Plane Wave” to Iran. Nobody will be hurt, the Ceasefire is in effect!" Trump wrote.

"Have you tried... beating his ass?"

FLC--If I understand you correctly, Iran wants to "defeat Trump" by breaking the truce they agreed to to save their asses from being completely wiped out by Israel and Trump. Which will result in their being further decimated by Israel.

Why would they do that? (Other than sheer pig-headed hate, which I do not discount).

FLC is not and never has been a good faith commenter. He is Dixcus mark two, and his motives are malign.

FormerLawClerk said...

I removed my previous comment about Trump's sanity as I misread his tweet. Apologies to Trump.

As to boatbuilder's question: Once Trump demanded a ceasefire and touted his success in obtaining one, all he did was give Iran a reason to violate the ceasefire (... that reason being to "defeat" Trump).

Trump needs to learn when to shut up. And he needs to learn that certain conversations (such as telling Israel to bring their pilots home) should take place through appropriate channels of international negotiation.

Not on social media.

RCOCEAN II said...

LOL. Bibi doesn't take orders from the USA. He gives them.

RCOCEAN II said...

Israel never met an international agreement, treaty, or ceasefire, it didn't violate. Iran's just lucky that their cease-fire negotiator didn't get assassinated.

FormerLawClerk said...

"FLC is not and never has been a good faith commenter."

Please explain to me what a "good faith commenter" is.

I say exactly what I mean to say. I have noticed that the only time I'm accused of being a "bad faith commenter" is when I go against the MAGA line - no matter how ridiculous that line is. So such an attack feels disingenuous and political - made in bad faith.

Israel can't be trusted to keep their word.
That's why they succeed where others do not.
Cease fire is just a promise. Like a marital oath or a friendship promise. If promises mean nothing, you can say anything. Israel does. Oh, it will catch up to poor Israel and all those who are silent in her name. Not a threat, an observation.

The most transparent President evah!

I appreciate him airing his anger and frustrations…. The way he says “Don’t” carries a lot more weight than his predecessor.

James K said...

Name two, and ones in which they responded after the other side violated them first don't count.

Leland said...

It takes work to hold together a fragile peace. Concur with Breezy that this is transparency and it will be needed to keep this peace, if it will hold.

Why didn’t our past presidents think of this brilliant way of conducting foreign policy: if you don’t want a country to do something, simply declare that the country is never going to do it. Problem solved.

Look at it this way. Trump eliminated Iran's queen. What moves does Iran have left? Israel has removed Iran's knights and rooks. What moves can Iran make that won't further their losses? Israel and/or the United States can remove Iran's military at will. Down to their junior officers. What, logically, should be Irans best response?

Well, first you have to establish credibility that your words have meaning.

It's not a trick just any President can pull off.

Iran's muted response to Trump's bombing of their nuclear sites represents his most significant foreign policy victory to date.

There will never be peace anywhere as long as there are radical Islamists. Iran has the most visibly radical Islamists - for now. Israel is the bulwark against jihad. The rest of the world, except perhaps the US, is too antisemitic to see it. The Diaspora is mostly too “stiff necked” to see it.

Somehow reminds me of a Monty Python skit:

Iran: What! No! No ceasefire. We never agreed to anything.

Israel: What? We have planes in the air for a retaliatory strike.

DJT: ..so a big Thank You and handshake all around for all sides. It is great to finally see agreement to this long and terrible conflict.

Well Trump has nothing to compare to the Foreign policy triumps of JFK (bay of pigs), Ronald Reagan (Marine barracks bombing in Beirut), Bush 41 (invasion of Panama), and Clinton (bombing Serbia).

If you cannot see the difference between Trump saying something and Biden or Harris or any of our past Presidents saying something then you are just displaying your immaturity and ignorance to the world.

The fact that you wrote this reflects on the level of responsibility you are capable of and integrity you hold yourself with.

You have never had to have any responsibility or actually have people trust what you say.

Democrats never really figure this out. They always resort to censorship and force because of this.
