The last point could explain Simone Biles' recent apology to Riley Gaines. Maybe it was personal accountability, and maybe it was the roast in social media.
We need to move beyond the instant gratification of bomb throwing. Apologies are a good start.
How you should interpret this latest post is this: Elon isn't saying that any of his previous posts were incorrect or false ... just that they "went too far."
"Went to far" is open to many interpretations, but it is clear that Musk isn't apologizing for anything he wrote.
Trump is probably prominently mentioned in the Epstein files. He certainly hasn't denied it. But again, this puts the focus on the Epstein files instead of where it belongs: on the pedophiles.
The pedophiles that Epstein trapped and likely blackmailed ... they're getting away with their crimes. They're getting away with raping kids. Trump isn't doing anything about that; Pam Bondi is actively shielding these people by refusing to release the data she has on them; and Kash Patel is too busy doing Rogan episodes to catch anyone on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted List.
And no, none of the Epstein pedophiles are on that list. That's how safe they are.
Love the "statement lacking evidence" immediately followed by the citation of evidence. (No, I don't think Trump is implicated in the Epstein scandal, just pointing out how lame these "without evidence" claims are capable of being.
It's hard to 'unthrow' a bomb. On the other hand, I suspect that both Trump and Elon understand they can be helpful to each other going forward, perhaps a bit down the road. No need to burn this bridge completely. There's still a girder or two in place.
Oh, and by the way, Elon is using both X and xAI (Grok) to shield this information. I subscribe to Elon's feed and this alleged apology tour isn't even shown to me. I could seek it out, but I'd have to seek it out; the algorithm is preventing me viewing it in the normal course of using X and Grok has been told specificially not to discuss certain topics.
Musk is frustrated with the pace at which government is being reigned in. He saw the evil that resides in DC and the hoard of parasites and enemies of western civilization that inhabit the place. He is just venting the frustrations of the silent majority of the country.
Trump is an escalation but the left really needs to get this through their thick skulls: Trump is being really nice to you. Way too nice.
You tried to kill Trump and put Trump in jail. You have funded and armed a foreign invasion force that is burning, looting, and is attacking the people we hire to maintain order.
Be very happy he did not order the 82nd to mobilize along with the rest of the army. Trump has not only the constitutional authority to do so to expel this foreign invasion. Trump also has deep popular support for doing so.
80% of the country would not only support Trump putting this democrat armed and organized insurrection down, they are not so quietly asking him to do it. 80% of the country doesn't understand why there are not thousands of arrests being made and why the people funding this are not in jail.
The media is creating a dangerous bubble for you people. You need to get out of it because most of the country is getting their news and information from podcasts and X now. We see what is actually going on and we know who is funding all of this now.

Simone Biles lived in a media created bubble. She had not realized she was in a very small minority. Nobody wants boys in girls sports. And the rank hypocrisy of someone who got rich off the system as a girl telling all future girls to get fucked set a lot of people off.
And the thing is that X is the public square now and the people of the country know they are the majority, and they know how small the progressive minority of crazy people is.
Biles clearly hired a PR firm to save her reputation and keep her marketable for endorsements.
But it is also too late for her. We are not forgiving all of the rich ungrateful moralizers. People hiring endorsement talent know she will do damage to your brand at this point.
I have no regrets on this. I speculated, because I don’t have access to the FBI Epstein files, that indeed Trump’s name would be in those files because of previous police reports in which Trump called authorities on Epstein’s behavior. What is silly is giving the suggestion that because Epstein can be associated to Trump, it means Trump was committing crimes with Epstein.
We had a bouncy happy giant puppy like Musk once. But he wasn't a manufacturing genius, just a hyper dog-child. I'm glad to see the breakup lasting less time than the bromance.
A president can only make lasting positive change by convincing a solid majority to support his legislation in congress. The whole Musk/Trump thing sends a clear message that if you criticize Trump he will come after you - and so will his MAGA people. Fear of reprisal makes people want to stay as far away from you as they can. Musk doesn't need politics but Trump surely needs allies. I don't care who started it, Trump threatening Musk only drives supporters away.

The silence from musk this week was deafening. I had my money on “somebody hacked my X account!” But this is way better. Thumbs up bigly, Elon. DJT is incapable of same.

RSM, for many years, have kept a OneNote notebook of posts and comments that I particularly like for one reason or the other. This one made it into my notebook.
Well, of course it's "some". Musk is right about what needs to be done. The problem is what needs to be done is not possible with the Congress we have. Musk wants the whole skyscraper, Trump is laying the foundation.
I don’t understand the Epstein list idea at all. Epstein was a smart guy and whether working for another government or himself had to plan for the possibility of having his cover blown. He went thru a long legal process in Florida to get immunity for a lot of things and was given more time to clean up.
Why would it have been in his interest to leave documents and tapes around that could be swept up. Why not give it to your successors to continue the blackmail income for your cause, or let the government he was working for continue to blackmail the politicians?
The whole idea that the fbi went into the island basement and found piles of evidence is unbelievable. And the fact is that Maxwell was convicted on emotional testimony of the victims in person and not due to documents, lists, or video. I don’t think they read a list of clients at the trial.
So if there is a list Epstein failed a simple duty of a spy/blackmailer. You have to let the blackmailee know you have a secret document drop set up with an attorney that will be released if you are killed. That did not happen. So some other entity could still be blackmailing a politician.
I'm not sure who talked sense into "dark" elon. But messing around with President Trump (or any president) is a recipe for some serious FAFO. One executive order, claiming that SpaceX needs to be put under the control of the feds for national security reasons would be quite a kick in the head. As for cutting contracts, that could happen even without an executive order. Elon could sue all day, but he burns through case at SpaceX, starlink.
Several of Musk’s tweets were inappropriate. After being a darling of the left he couldn’t take the stress of being vilified by them. Lefties are geniuses at applying psychological pressure. Mental weakness on display never good for leaders in politics or in business. Not unrecoverable but self inflicted wounds should be avoided.
Yes, "some." Elon was right in the absolute sense - the bill does suck, for the most part, just as Elon said. But Trump is also right in a pragmatic sense - this is probably the best we could get with the squish GOP congress.
"...One executive order, claiming that SpaceX needs to be put under the control of the feds for national security reasons would be quite a kick in the head. ..."
Elon may be the World's Richest Man, but he's not 'Federal Government' rich. And, in spite of all of his industrial manning, he's not 'Federal Government' staffed, either. But I still contend that this was an exercise of useful strategic theater, every bit of it. Elon played the Heel for a while, but his enterprise is commanding his attention and now it's Trump's turn.
"Well it's time for me to sober up. As the old saying goes, enough is enough. When everyone I see keeps looking funny back at me, I guess it's time for me to sober up." - The Ziggens
Musk's political actions in 2025 involved nothing but overreach, ignorance, and failure (to my disappointment). DOGE was given carte blanche, but crudely stumbled around and offended many but discovered nothing new. He overpromised but grossly underdelivered. He'd fire anyone for that kind of behavior as an intern or probationary employee at Tesla, X, or SpaceX.
Tech firms are not kind to arrogant fools who screw up and deny reality. See Steve Jobs at Apple in the 1990s.
Not coincidentally at the end of his "special government employee" period, Musk's wounded pride led to his burn-all-bridges and scorched-earth comments. Politicians will remember him as a disloyal loose cannon for the rest of his life. Maybe not publicly, but all future collaborators will remember. Fool me once, shame on me. They will surely take his donations, but won't let him fool them twice.
May I just add how good Vivek Ramaswamy is at reading a room. He left DOGE at the precisely right moment and with an excuse that couldn’t be seen as an excuse - he decided to run for Governor of Ohio. He made a misstep when he criticized American workers. In my opinion that misstep is what propelled him to withdraw from DOGE and run for public office. Why? When he criticized US workers, he was following Elon’s lead. I think that’s when he realized that Elon Musk’s political instincts weren’t to be trusted and the wisest move would be to withdraw from DOGE and create a future for himself that would decouple himself from Musk.
men will batter each other to a pulp and even seriously attempt to kill each other yet - with the passage of time - can still become friends.
My Dad was a Mustang pilot in WWII. Some forty years after the war ended, he had a cordial meeting with a guy from the famous "Ace of Spades" squadron of the Luftwaffe that his squadron had tangled with. They might very well have taken direct machine-gun fire from each other in a dogfight. Dad said he had no hard feelings, they were each doing their duty to their nation, and the past couldn't be changed. They shared a bond of life-defining experience that was foreign to the rest of us, and he thought that under other circumstances they might have been good friends.
What’s really interesting about l’affaire Musk is Trump’s role. Bringing his kid X to the White House was inappropriate. Trump has enough people around him who could have quietly taken Musk aside and told him so. And yet Trump didn’t do that. Why would that be? I think Musk was trying to imitate Trump. Trump is certainly not a father figure in the traditional sense. Cheated on his first wife, ending up with a much younger trophy wife and yet has his own kind of love for his kids and grandkids. Unconventional but accepted by Americans anyway. That would be a path Musk could think he could follow and even outdo Trump. Only he was clumsy at it. Not Trump level finesse. I think Trump realized quite early on that given enough rope, Musk would (to mix metaphors) step in it. And Musk did, very publicly. Power has shifted, rather the perception of power has shifted. Because Musk never had a clue (and maybe still doesn’t) how he was being played.
To be fair to Donald, he permitted Elon to leave on superficially good terms. I suspect he saw him spiraling out of control, due to drugs, and cut his losses.

Saying a bill can be big or beautiful but both is totally fine, suggesting Trump is a pedophile, not so much.

Highly interested in what is being done.
They need each other to get some things done, but no longer as besties. IOW, same as most transactions.
What would we do without "psychological studies?"
ot: one of the other power grabs by crook Joe's soros illegals:
"A federal judge just denied Gavin Newsom’s request to block Trump from using the National Guard in LA.
Democrats don’t want immigration laws enforced; especially in California.
They use emotion to defend illegal immigration, but here’s what they don’t tell you:
Illegal immigrants inflate California’s census numbers, which boosts its House seats and electoral votes.
It’s not just “compassion”. It’s political power."
