Booing or cheering?

From a Reddit discussion of the crowd reaction to Trump's appearance in the audience at the Kennedy Center performance of "Les Miserables":

"Honestly it sounds like a mix of both? Boos and cheers/clapping together. Because as disappointing as it is, there is a lot of people who literally reside up Trump’s ass crack & worship this man. I fully despise him and everything he stands for. And the fact that he simultaneously, gets to go to the theater and exist peacefully while terrorizing the immigrant populations in LA & around the US."

That comment oozes vitriol and is more proof that the Democrats are not done trying to murder Donald Trump.

Let’s see, a president you hate shouldn’t be able to go to the theater and “exist peacefully.” What does that bring to mind?

Already there. I think a rising cohort is now just waiting for shooting to start.

Does anyone know "everything" Trump stands for?
I don't think even Trump knows. This is the kind of rhetoric people may believe sounds good, but it really sounds foolish.

Bernstein's Candide would be more appropriate. Unfortunately none of the YouTube renditions have singers that think there's anything musical to bring out. It's all operatic wobble and smirk, as if comedy should be overstated when Bernstein was understated. I recommend the 1970s LP. The lyrics to What's the Use though, which is what's appropriate:

OLD LADY
I have always been wily and clever
At deceiving and swindling and such,
And I feel just as clever as ever,
But I seem to be losing my touch.
Yes, I'm clever, but where does it get me?
My employer gets all of my take;
All I get is my daily spaghetti,
While he gorges on truffles and cake.
What's the use? What's the use?
There's no profit in cheating,
It's all so defeating
And wrong, oh, so wrong,
That I just have to pass it along!

RAGOTSKI
That old hag is no use in this gyp joint,
Not a sou have I made on her yet,
And the one thing that pays in this clip joint
Is my fraudulent game of roulette.
But I have to pay so much protection
To the chief of police and his men,
That each day when he makes his collection
I'm a poor man all over again.

RAGOTSKI, OLD LADY
What's the use? What's the use
Of dishonest endeavor and being so clever?
It's wrong, oh, so wrong,
If you just have to pass it along!

MAXIMILIAN
It's a very fine thing to be prefect
Shaking down all the gamblers in town.
My position has only one defect:
That there's someone who's shaking me down.
For this fellow unhappily knows me;
And he's on to the game that I play,
And he threatens to shame and expose me
If I do not incessantly pay.

MAXIMILIAN, RAGOTSKI, OLD LADY
What's the use? What's the use
Of this sneaky conniving and slimy contriving?
It's wrong, oh, so wrong,
If you just have to pass it along!

CROOK
I could live very well by extortion,
But I simply can't keep what I earn,
For I haven't a sense of proportion,
And roulette is my only concern.
I've a system that's fiendishly clever,
Which I learned from a croupier friend,
And I should go on winning forever
But I do seem to lose in the end.

MAXIMILIAN, RAGOTSKI, CROOK
What's the use? What's the use?
OLD LADY
What's the use? What's the use
Of this cheating and plotting,
You end up with notting.

OLD LADY, MAXIMILIAN, RAGOTSKI,
CROOK
It's wrong, oh, so wrong
If you just have to pass it along!

CHORUS
Pass it along, oh, pass it along.

ALL
Oh, what's the use? What's the use?
There's no use in cheating,
It's all so defeating
And wrong, oh, so wrong,
If you just have to pass it along!

Well, I happen to be part of the "immigrant populations" and Trump isn't terrorizing me or anyone like me...i.e., who came here legally, committed no crimes here or anywhere else, and are not rioting, looting, or flying flags of other countries. Perhaps the leftist elites could explain why they are unable to comprehend the difference between "immigrants" and "criminal illegal immigrants". We immigrants applaud and support President Trump's actions.

following @rhhardin, I can faintly hear the gathering TDS carriers singing this as they take their positions for Saturday's events:
What a day, what a day
For an auto-da-fe!
What a sunny summer sky!
What a day, what a day
For an auto-da-fe!
It's a lovely day for drinking
And for watching people fry!
Hurry, hurry, hurry,
Watch 'em die!
Hurry, hurry, hurry,
Hang 'em high!

It's all about preserving and sustaining the purity of the progressive dream. Lean Forward.

Libtards hate America. And they want us to have open borders and have 50 million 3rd worlders move here. They don't care, because they think their housing prices will go up, and their job (assuming they even have one) will be safe.

But that's giving the anti-American Libtard too much credit. They just hate non-leftists and follow the party line. If tommorrow "the party line" changed to restricting Immigration, they'd be for it.

People who hate are just looking for someone/something to blame for their hate of self. God forbid they admit responsibility for their own distress.

I think that it is unfortunate that Trump has to share space in a theater with people who display a blind hatred for “him and everything he stands for.” I presume “everything he stands for” includes fair wages for American workers, Jewish college students being able to walk to classes without being cursed or threatened, rapists and murders being removed from our streets, stuff like that.

Big Mike said...

What I think is unfair is that President Trump has to share space in a theater with hardcore Trump haters. I look forward to the day when a Trump hater show up to the theater with tickets in hand and gets turned away because the President is planning to attend the performance and a DHS AI tool has flagged that ticket holder as a Trump hater.

I know some libs are boycotting the Kennedy Center, because Trump! I don't know how widespread that is, but I suspect it's not the same crowd as before.

Spiros said...

I think the most intense hatred is from people, overwhelmingly college educated single White females and African-Americans, who fear losing their privileged status and are resentful of other people's successes (especially successful White and Asian men). If the TDS people can recognize the role jealousy plays in their lives, we, collectively, will be better able to cultivate empathy and foster a more accepting society.

..."as disappointing as it is, there is a lot of people who literally reside up Trump’s ass crack..." said the highly-cultured intellectual that is outraged Trump would attend such a refined event, 'as if he could comprehend its true symbolic meaning'

Somebody mentioned jealousy, but I really think it's the sin of Envy that gets people hating to this blind raging level.

Randomizer said...

At least the commenter acknowledges that President Trump was getting cheers, as well as boos, at Kennedy Center. That is more honesty than we'd get from corporate media.

It is less honest to say that a president who has been shot by an aspiring assassin, is free to "exist peacefully".

"I fully despise him and everything he stands for."

A stupid statement on the face of it. I'm pretty damn sure Trump "stands for" not torturing puppies. Does this clown despise NOT torturing puppies.

Every utterance he ever makes about Trump should be summarily disregarded.

Sadly he self-tortures himself daily (hourly) while Trump remains in office. And likely beyond.

Admittedly, the deportation push may "terrorize" the illegals. Clearly, they'd be better off without deportations. But what about the rest of the country? Do the useful idiots on the left ever even consider the possibility that stopping and reversing Biden's open borders policies may be a good thing for the country as a whole, even though it may be disruptive to the lives of the deportees?

Does our Reddit poster despise free speech?

I’m guessing maybe the answer to that is yes.

Jersey Fled said...

“ Admittedly, the deportation push may "terrorize" the illegals.”

And the blame for this falls entirely on Joseph Robinette Biden, who promised them something he couldn’t deliver. For his own crooked purposes.

As I understand it, Les Mis tells the story of a career criminal who repeatedly tries to breach the (prison) walls keeping him out of French society, takes advantage of a non-governmental organization's money (Bishop Myriel), resumes his life of crime by stealing from a 12-year-old boy (Gervais), hides from authorities (going so far as to fake his own death), conscripts a minor (Cosette) into a life of crime, and eventually joins up with a group of malcontents and starts riots and revolution. Oh, and the criminal is the hero of this story.

Its like an eposide of Law & Order - it is ripped from today's headlines.
