From "Trump won more than half of foreign-born Hispanics — still would have beaten Harris if every eligible person voted in 2024 election: analysis" (NY Post).

"A stunning 51% of Hispanic, naturalized US citizens voted for Trump over Harris, according to the Pew Research Center’s 2024 election post-mortem."
"Trump, who on the campaign trail pledged to crackdown on illegal immigration and shore up the southern border, bested Harris among foreign-born Hispanics by 3 percentage points and performed 12 points better within the demographic than he did in 2020.... The Pew Research Center analysis... surveyed almost 9,000 voters in the weeks after the 2024 election.... The president carried 15% of Black voters (up from 8% in 2020), 40% of Asian voters (up from 30% in 2020) and maintained the same 55% support from white voters he received four years earlier...."

The leftie bias in this analysis is stunning- so much ‘conventional wisdom’, just wrong but accepted as fact…and 2020 is an anomaly since so many rules of elections were violated, especially since it was inappropriately easy to cast a vote without ‘turning out’. 2020 skewed data should be thrown out for things like this…
Is it Diversity (i.e. color judgment, class bigotry), or diversity of individuals, minority of one a la "I have a dream"?
Harris Walz = embarrassing evil joke.
Citizens, and legal immigrants, as stakeholders of "our [unPlanned] Posterity". Neither a novel nor green conception.
I own apartment buildings in Illinois and some are areas with very large Latino populations. It seems like the lives of my Hispanic, especially working class, tenants improved dramatically during the first Trump presidency. Fewer evictions, fewer late payments, the common areas were cleaner, some actually went on vacations, some got new cars, etc. It was odd and it was very noticeable and the phenomenon seemed to be limited to Hispanic areas.
The people who elected Mamdani are the same people who voted for Kamala Harris. Young White progressives came out in force for Mamdani. They know nothing, and can be moved in large groups via social media. They are the ideal voter bloc for any candidate.
The problem is that nationally, there are not enough of them to win any election. But locally, or even on a statewide level, they can do damage.
Mamdani's actual voting base.
After 4 years of open border, high inflation, crime, de-fund the police, COVID lies, censorship, men in women's sports and spaces, pro-noun police, and the liar media/shit show Joe - it's a head-scratcher.
It was 51 percent of the naturalized citizens who voted. He got 48 percent of Hispanics who voted. Both of those are impressive numbers but the headline on this post conflates several separate results. There's a big difference, usually, between "percent of x voted for" and "percent of x who voted for."
My Hispanic former SIL told me there is a lot of anger about the border in that community. People who had decent pay raises and/or started businesses under Trump 45 found themselves slipping under Biden after he opened the floodgates.
In related News - buttigieg does not garner blacks. (garner - sorry)
What, exactly, is stunning about this?
Well there you have it, democracy doesn't work.
2 thoughts:
1. Can JD and Rs replicate what DJT did?
2. Is there some portion of Hispanics that will not vote for a black candidate? More and more Black anger at Hispanic growth and influence.
A little surprising, but also easy to rationalise -- people who have actually been through the process of applying for and obtaining an immigrant visa, then getting permanent residency and citizenship are significantly more knowledgeable about the practical implentation of immigration law than the average citizen, so it makes sense they'd be less likely than the average citizen to fall for romantic nonsense about illegal aliens. They're also the category of people who are most clearly getting pushed aside in favour of illegal aliens every time there's another push to give illegal aliens a "path to citizenship." They had to follow the rules and worry about traffic violations, or whether they'd have to leave the country if they couldn't get a work visa after OPT. They followed the rules and kept in touch with immigration authorities so of course, they had to deal with the consequences if they violated the terms of their visa (although there's also corrupt officials eager to apply the law unequally to avoid adverse immigration consequences for defendants and thereby subvert federal immigration law).
Meanwhile politicians just want to reward illegal alien cheaters for cheating.
It's not about race. More important factors are the Dems being openly anti-Christian, the Trans issue, the Dems promoting an identity-based system vs a merit-based system and probably most importantly, these people were doing much better economically under Trump than they were under "Biden".
oh YEAH?
WELL! how did Trumpster do with illegal Trans Hispanics?
Huh?
Answer me THAT!
i mean, SURE most US citizens supported him..
but THAT is irrelevant..
The Majority of people in the world AREN'T US citizens,
and That doesn't even count the bots and other synthetic voters
for FUN..
Ask Puerto Ricans how THEY feel about illegal hispanics?
Try to find a bar, with Puerto Ricans in it, AND illegal Mexicans..
Their discussions can be VERY animated!
The problem is not immigration, it is excessive immigration, illegal immigration, lack of emigration reform, and the cover-up of the massive loss of life as a wicked solution, a human rite in progressive sects.
Like the 2020 IT WAS STOLEN nonsense, the real numbers show 2024 as anything but a landslide and a mandate by the numbers. Electoral college was not even 2nd or 3rd and more people stayed home 66% down to 63% and this divided country would never vote for a woman especially
a black one so like the 2020 lie I WON (court mandated lie)the real numbers show the talking point of LANDSLIDE is a favorite trump lie and his trumpeters all follow along. JKust an info fact but half the country use alternative facts so no one knows this or even if they did they don't care they'll just believe the hype.
A Landslide Election or Not?
Early election coverage described Trump’s victory as a landslide. But whether you go by the Electoral College vote or the popular vote, it was anything but. The 312 Electoral College votes that Trump won are just six more than Joe Biden won in 2020, twenty less than Barack Obama won in 2012, and fifty-three less than Obama won in 2008. Trump’s Electoral College performance pales in comparison to Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s landslide victory in 1936 (523 electoral votes), Lyndon Johnson’s in 1964 (486), Richard Nixon’s in 1972 (520), or Ronald Reagan’s in 1984 (525). In terms of the popular vote, more people voted for someone not named Trump for president than voted for Trump in 2024, and his margin of victory over Harris was 1.5 percentage points. That is the fifth smallest margin of victory in the thirty-two presidential races held since 1900. So when spieling your false rhetoric remember some folks know the real numbers not that it matters now, but the ones who stayed him in 2024 may have wished they did more. Sorry cant get it back, grin and bear it you could always be part of Russia or North Korea or anyone of the beauties of those places. Count yourself lucky to be born here, when your ready for your dirt nap all the whining and complaining wont matter a bit, nobody especially if your alone, will even know your gone. Cheer up :) Life's a bitch and then you die!

This is the result of stunted moral development.
They also have to rewrite history.
Gilbar,
In Puerto Rico the animus is not towards Mexicans. Very few here.
It is aimed more at our darker skinned cousins in Dominican Republic.
As wilfrid Vargas (a Dominican) famously asked "Mami que sera lol que quire el negro?)
John Henry
John henry..
I've never been to the island, and have only known Puerto Ricans while in Ames, Ia..
My friend was a waitress at the Colombian restaurant there (where i'd go to watch telenovelas), and the place would be fine if:
there were Puerto Ricans..
there were Mexicans...
NOT fine, if both groups were there.. it seemed to ALWAYS come to blows
MOST of our Puerto Ricans were grad students, and MOST of the Mexicans were laborers; which i'm SURE didn't help.
When my dad got legal in the 70's he went back to Mexico. He played the game just like my grandparents did in the 40's. They didn't begrudge INS for doing their job. So I completely understand why naturalized citizens support Trump.
That doesn't sound like the new Hitler. Have they been lying all this time? Every person who continues to call Trump "Hitler" must be ignore from now on. Imagine the loss of that irritating cacophony in our culture and politics.
"This is the result of stunted moral development."
And a mentality that spends most of their income on rent. They really need the government to make their decisions less stupid. That's like needing a bank robber to manage your finances.
I raised my family in the Hispanic majority Logan Square neighborhood in Chicago. When I first moved there in the early 80s it was Puerto Rican. In 1985, after the Harold Washington period redistricting my ward finally became majority PR and elected its first minority alderman, even though she was a pawn of Blago's FIL.
By 1995, gentrification by us people of pallor, along with Mexicans, led to a electoral face-off between the PRs and Mexicans. It was the first time I ever heard the term Wetbacks thrown around in an election. The Boricua are citizens and the Mexicans are dirty immigrants.
BTW, the northern-most part of the ward was the beginning of the Polish immigrant area. I have it on good authority that it takes the Polski about 5 years the change out of their track suits into blue jeans.
To change not the change.
But if you watch the news, you'd swear that every Latino in the country is anti-Trump.
Personally, I don't think there is anything "stunning" about Trump's appeal to Latinos. Most Latinos like strong, personality types and most Latinos know that the illegal immigration issue hits them hardest of all in terms of depressed wages and denied economic opportunities. Even Cesar Chavez hated the people who were in the country illegally.
If you have any experience applying for citizenship it will rankle you that these lazy people don't try to get legalized.
Some of this is because they often are the kind of lazy, not so smart people that exist anywhere. Who just dodge anything that takes effort. (like the guys who left my job years ago and are STILL on my 401K plan)
Then there's the other aspect: paying taxes.
I had an employee who shacked up with an illegal alien from Vietnam. She was making like $60k per year working at a tea shop as the manager - paid in cash.
So, I helped this guy find an immigration lawyer and got his wife legal. And then he told me "we decided to have her keep working illegally" i.e. the $$$ from not paying taxes was too good.
How do you think a taxpayer feels about that?
Hispanic immigrants of the legal kind interact with these people more often many other people do.
It infuriates you.
My wife is a legal immigrant and naturalized citizen. Through her, I’ve met many other legal immigrants. I’ve never met a legal immigrant who supports illegal immigration. Illegal immigration makes those who undertook the effort and costs to do things legally look like a bunch of chumps, and nobody likes being made a chump.
Is it more racially and ethnically diverse (in %) than Harris? That would be wildly ironic that the Great Racist/Bigot of the 21st century got more “ethnic” voters to vote for him than the always more enlightened Democrat.
Not sure if I can attribute the lack of early ILLEGAL fireworks in my neighborhood (40% Asian, 35% Hispanic, 20% White) to a more secure border or to the increased deportation efforts. In years past, the ILLEGAL fireworks start sometime around the end of the school year and don't finish until 2 weeks after the 4th.
Like most immigrant groups, most Hispanics are starting the bottom of the economic ladder and moving up. Having played by the rules (legal immigration and citizenship), I am not surprised that they voted for the person who said they would remove the group (illegal labor) driving down wages for low-skilled labor.
