A lot of gossip! It is heavily implied, by "credible" newspapers such as the Daily Mail and the Daily Beast, that the black eye was a result of an enraged Stephen Miller sucker punching Elon Musk. Miller's wife is leaving the White House to work full time with the tech titan.

Both mother and daughter have used their considerable literary skills to document each other's considerable failings. Apparently they really went into detail and were not above embellishing some of the details. Molly Jong Fast has a new book coming out that further elaborates on Erica Jong's many defects as a mother. Unfortunately Erica is now fading into dementia and will not be able to comment on this book......Neither mother nor daughter are very appealing, but the NY Times article approves of them and their brave attempts to seek the truth. Well, it's true that while both characters are addled and self indulgent, their political opinions have always been correct, so all is forgiven. I read this article, just before Maureen Dowd's take down of Trump. You can't help but marvel at such bias.

The Obama rescue and restoration of American banking and finance 2009-12 was substantially different from Roosevelt's New Deal restructurings of 1933-36. Roosevelt reformed; Obama restored. Wealth concentration is the central trend of US domestic policy. While in foreign policy, no human rights abuse is too great if it furthers Israeli hegemony in the Middle East. Neoconservatism is American foreign policy. (The Arabs have long understood this; everyone else is catching up fast.)
In American politics today, there is no credible people's political program for the people to swing back towards in reaction to Republican right-wing transgression. Lazarus, I agree with you that these rumors concerning Musk and Stephen Miller's wife follow very easily from their recent behavior. Mrs. Miller is known for her special ability to communicate with Mr. Musk and is said to use gentle, non-verbal methods to keep the man under control. It was basically her job! And, of course, social media is alive with speculation -- Pee Wee German (Mr. Miller's nickname) has been cuckolded by Elon Musk. Some comments are simply "cuck-a-doodle-do"!
Nevertheless, and notwithstanding the circumstantial evidence, I think these rumors are false. Someone is attempting to destroy the reputation of an adversary and is doing a pretty good job of it. This hit job is so mean and nasty and nuanced, it looks like something a woman would do to a rival.
