I just discovered that the iPhone Maps app has flyover tours for many major cities if you click on the city name on the maap and then select Flyover. I found this out by accident while looking at Tokyo on the map, then went and looked at Berlin. In the U.S., it's kind of hit or miss. Boston, New York, Baltimore, Charleston, Miami, New Orleans, St. Louis, Detroit and San Francisco all have flyovers, as does Mobile, Alabama. However, cities like Kansas City, Tampa, Orlando and Washington D.C. do not.
@narcisso, interesting graphs there. King Charles apparently has pancreatic cancer, and only a couple of years left, as he's declined chemotherapy. I wonder when we'll start seeing the 'Covid effect' graphs that apply to western society.

Today is the 39th anniversary of So, the fifth studio album by English singer-songwriter Peter Gabriel, released on 19 May 1986.
All four previous Peter Gabriel releases where self-titled Peter Gabriel. "So" is considered his big time breakout album.

I bought a mini-iPad for my Uber app so I could enlarge the text just enough not to raise alarms and still read the darn thing. So, I've been calling Uber support, because (apparently) the app text is not dynamic. 2 calls to support and they tell me to expect a call from tech support that day. I've received no call from tech support.
While thinking about why, I recall how slick and finished the passenger Uber app looks, compared to the Driver app. Then it hits me. The driver app is a place-holder until the robocars are ready. Why spend valuable resources improving an app that's meant to whither on the vine.

Big Mike, are you following the Buffalo Public School scandal? It is the same stuff. Schools claiming they are safe by making damn sure no one reports the crime that is occurring. Even the local “news” initial response is to attack the credibility of the whistleblower. What prompted the whistleblower to come forward was a school deleting video evidence of an attempted kidnapping of two elementary age kids by a complete stranger. Without the evidence, the kidnapper was facing misdemeanor charges, but now has 4 felony charges. The school didn’t even tell the parents.

So was one of those rare albums that was liked by both people who loathed current pop music but liked other current music, and people who loved current pop music.
The music video for "Sledgehammer" was pretty groundbreaking, though, back in those days when MTV played music videos. "I was there. 3000 years ago..."

The robocars (Google version) are ubiquitous in the Phoenix area. I use them for trips to and from the airport, and it’s a pleasant experience. They drive carefully, obey all traffic laws, and don’t expect a tip. I was impressed recently by the little Waymo’s ability to maneuver to the curb of an extremely crowded arrivals area. It waited patiently, saw its chance and slid right in 15 feet from where I stood.
The only problem: it seems to think I live next door. We have notified Waymo Central.
@Leland, I keep track of Loudoun because it’s right next door. I have to drive through it to visit son, daughter in law, and world’s smartest and most adorable granddaughter.
Why don't you tell us more about stuff you don't know anything about, like your "walleye chop." A walleye chop is when the wind comes up quickly on a previously calm day, and changes the light conditions in the water, mimicking dusk, and triggering the walleye to bite. You can't tell a "walleye chop" from a photos that are not a time series.
But I don't think you care about the truth value of anything you say, Kaki.
And when the wind is up, as it was yesterday, it's very bouncy. I don't like them in the photos — though Meade does — so I often walk out to the end of the dock, but yesterday I didn't want to. Too scary! That person you see in photo #2, a random stranger, is sitting down. Not a great place to sit, given the chance of goose excrement, but I understand why she chose to sit.
Jaq — I doubt you’d know which end of the rod to hold.
“Walleye chop" is a term used by walleye anglers for rough water typically with winds of 5 to 15 mph (7 to 24 km/h), and is one of the indicators for good walleye fishing due to the walleye's increased feeding activity during such conditions.”
A sudden onset of surface waves, especially under changing cloud cover or wind conditions, can rapidly alter underwater light intensity and visibility. For walleyes, who are extremely sensitive to light changes, this mimics the conditions of dawn and dusk—times when walleyes naturally become more active and aggressive feeders.
In other words, the term "walleye chop" isn't merely describing surface conditions. It's also about the rapid change in underwater lighting, creating a "trigger" event similar to low-light feeding periods.
Thus, the key points are:
The shift in light conditions (from bright to darker, or more broken patterns of light) is a trigger for feeding. Surface disturbance (the "chop") accelerates or mimics these conditions even during midday. Walleyes become temporarily more aggressive, feeling safer and more willing to strike.
But I will give you the possibility that the term has fallen into misuse as people who don't understand it think that it is cool and repeat it without understanding it.
I’m a helper — try a variety of resources before you make an @ss of yourself..
"Walleye chop" refers to rough, choppy water conditions with short, irregular waves, typically caused by winds of 10 to 25 km/h (6 to 16 mph), though some sources suggest stronger winds up to 40 to 60 mph (7 to 24 km/h). These conditions are ideal for walleye fishing, as the turbulent, murky water reduces light penetration, activating walleye feeding behavior due to their superior low-light vision. The term is widely used by anglers, especially in regions like the Great Lakes and Upper Midwest, to describe this phenomenon. ~ Grok

Rich. Biden voters opinions don't carry much weight here.
This guy adds guitar solos to modern pop songs that just don't do them anymore, and it's pretty amazing.
