Gaza aid pier: Why 62 US troops were hurt in a mission that shouldn't have happened - analysis
May 8, 2025

More soldiers were injured than previously known, illustrating that the previous US admin was not forthcoming about this failure.

A new report has revealed that the temporary pier the US military deployed to Gaza was more dangerous than previously known. The Pentagon’s inspector general’s office released a report that said a total of 62 people were injured during the deployment.

The pier, called Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore (JLOTS) was ordered by the White House to be sent to Gaza in March of 2024. It was supposed to help deliver humanitarian aid.

From the beginning, it was obvious this was a bad choice. The forces lacked training and equipment for the mission. The US Army is supposed to be responsible for the capability to deploy a floating pier.

Juche translates to "self-reliance" and emphasizes national independence and development through the efforts of the masses. In this case it means mass punishment, and likely death either by a shot to the head or starvation in a prison camp, for a whole lotta North Koreans involved in ship building. Power to the people!

Intelligent people realize that the Biden Regime was illegitimate on several levels.

Stupid people think that they can separate the illegitimate demented puppet scandal from the illegitimate way they installed their puppet in 2020.

The Uniparty made a huge mistake in 2020 installing an obviously failing puppet and mailing in millions of ballots after election day. If they had just let Trump win and had a reasonably honest primary in 2024 we would probably be talking about some Democrat president right now.

But now the Democrat party is finished for a generation on the national level and the Democrat party is most likely heading for a split as they become more violent and more radical in their failure.

But my understanding is that they are no longer launched this way due to the risk of this happening. They now use some kind of contraption that is more like a lock.

"...and unscientific empiricism which is out of the bounds of possibility..."

Althouse is surprised by North Korea's unaccustomed openness and frank admission of imperfection. May I point out that the Respected Leader can also propound tautologies with authority. Up until 123 days ago, we also had one of those, we just did know who that was or whether it was a single person or conspiracy.

As for the accident in question, launching a ship sideways isn't unusual. Isambard Kingdom Brunel (what a character!) launched his iron-hulled steamship, The Great Eastern, sideways, and most of the ships built in the United States for World War II were also launched in that manner. (BTW, most WWII American ships were either LSTs, submarines, Liberty ships, or destroyer escorts) Until your ship-building project gets really big, say over 20,000 GRT, how you launch it, whether stern-first or sideways, has more to do with the depth of the water than the size of the hull. Most American rivers are pretty shallow, even in their estuaries, which is why so many small warships and auxiliaries are still launched sideways. Launching sideways into shallow water is less risky. The slipways emptying into deep water must be reserved for the big ships.

The Nork journalist (?) implies the launching method was incorrect for the displacement of the hull. That's unlikely. The Liberty ships were over 441 feet long and displaced over 14,000 tons. Most of these went in sideways and nearly all launched without issues.

Some ships are either too ginormous or too complex to launch either sideways or stern first, supercarriers and modern submarines, for example. Instead they are built in their drydocks, which are later flooded when the ship is ready (not completed, mind you) ready. That seems like the smart way to handle launching. However, water is tricky, and a very large volume of water is very tricky, such as the water needed to float a 70,000-ton battleship. The problem is the scale of the drydock. When they get big enough to contain a really big hull, they can become an even greater expense and a more complex engineering project than the ship being built within. The Yamato, the largest battleship ever built (battleship ≠ warship) severely crashed her bows when the rush of incoming water slammed her against the back of her construction drydock. Yamato was so expensive that the steel used in drydock flood gate was inadequately strong. Consequently, when the water was admitted, the force on the edges of the gate peeled them back like cardboard allowing a powerful wave to strike Yamato's transom with typhoon force. This sort of accident still happens. Another example: USS Cod, a WWII Gato-class submarine preserved as a memorial and museum ship in Cleveland was recently serviced in a drydock to ensure her continued existence as the only seaworthy Gato remaining. During the process of refloating her, too much water was admitted too rapidly, which put the vessel in danger of a similar accident that nearly killed Yamato as she was being born.

Women can vote to start wars men will be forced to fight. This makes the 19th amendment unsupportable by reasonable people.

There's two possibilities.
1. Joe Biden won fair and square. He was President. But though he was the elected President he didn't get the medical treatment he needed to do the job he was elected by the voters to do - to restore the Old Highway, the middle-of-the-road in America. He was left bewildered by pain and drugs to sit on the beach eating ice cream while arrogant, young staffers took the country on hard left turn. Why didn't his doctors rescue the elected President?

2. He was not the President; he was not elected; he did not get more black votes than Obama. He knew it; his staff knew it. And they knew he was sick, probably with prostate cancer which they knew would make him easy to manipulate as long as nobody really treated the problem. So they left him to wander in pain or a drug haze while in his name they auto-penned and EO'd and doubled the debt and burned cities in the minority areas and imported murderous gangs for future use. But, above all, in the name of social justice and non-President Joe Biden, they transferred millions upon millions and maybe billions of taxpayer dollars to themselves and their loved ones. (Just like Hamas's leaders who have $11 billion dollars for themselves out of the Gaza issue.) And he didn't dare speak up because they and he knew that he wasn't the President and that was something that might somehow come out if any rock got turned over. You never know. And then, he kept getting worse and he couldn't even get medical treatment; nobody wanted him to get better.

The Man Who Would Be President.
What it comes down to is that whether Joe Biden was or was not elected, he was a man suffering from cancer for years whom nobody helped. Not his wife, not his son, not his doctors, not his staff, not his cabinet, not the White House Press Corp, not his party. He was as alone and homeless as anyone on the streets of San Francisco. And why? Because everyone around him was getting rich on the plunder enabled by his physical pain and weakness. That's what they all cared about and it's all they cared about. They can pay expensive lawyers with a portion of their loot to invoke precedents and to deny and delay. But at bottom we are not talking about a legal issue as we might if Joe Biden had been a whole man, whether elected or not. We are talking about plundering and looting enabled by disregarding the pain of an old sick man. The man who would be President?as the song says: "They left him to die like tramp on the street."

But they knew that the pier they deployed could not handle the size of the waves at the target location. Someone knew that pier could not handle that location. They were ordered to do it anyways.

There needs to be an audit of the chain of command in this operation.

That said, if an 81-year-old human male nominally in charge of the nuclear football wasn’t getting regular PSA tests and follow-ups for high PSA levels…somebody was committing medical malpractice and/or elder abuse. I wouldn’t treat a stray dog like that. Few things have made me ever feel sympathy for Joe Biden; the shameful way he was apparently treated medically over the last decade shouldn’t happen to anyone.

Aggie said...

There are a couple of ways to treat the Biden news.
1. You can believe what the family spokesman says, that Joe hasn't had a test for prostate cancer in over 11 years, hasn't had the finger exam or a simple PSA blood test - any of the protocols for an older male that are routine for most men. You can believe that the most powerful man in the world doesn't have good standard health care.

2. You can believe that the Biden family did what they have been doing for the past 50 years or so: Telling serial lies, embellishing, parsing facts to help support a narrative, using tragic personal events to deflect attention and gain sympathy in order to avoid scrutiny, and doing their best for damage control, timed to the release of the news has absolutely nothing to do with the book release detailing of how chaotic and out-of-bounds events were, behind the scenes in the palace.

Which is more likely and more consistent with historical behavior?

"Hint: We have only had one ethical president since February 2021 and his name isn't Trump.

Well, it certainly wasn’t Biden. Nor were it the presidents of several universities.

That leaves us with President Ron Paul: https://babylonbee.com/news/report-somewhere-in-alternate-universe-president-ron-paul-overseeing-americas-next-golden-age

Biden was a bit mushy at times but competent.

Biden was a dim bulb when he was mentally at 100% of his full capacity, going back to the days of tie-dye and bell bottoms. Well known as one of the dumbest men on Capitol Hill, and a bottom-rung graduate of a bottom-tier toilet of a law school.
