Watching Evers speak or doing something is the closest thing these days to necromancy.

Maybe he should go back to pretending he knows anything at all about basic female biology.

Between his belief in "birthing people " and gadfly's almost-daily failures at Kindergarten level reading/comprehension abilities, we need defund the failed public education system immediately

"Loosely based." The name of the project and apparently the names of the characters have been changed. Vineland was interpreted by critics as a blast at Reagan's America, so I guess the movie will be a blast at Trump's. I'm not familiar with the novel, but it does seem like Pynchon is what Philip K. Dick would have been had his life and writing been blighted by an Ivy League (well, ... Cornell ...) education.

What I have read. 16,000 homes “and other structures” in LA were destroyed in last winter’s wildfire. Number of permits to rebuild issued by LA and California bureaucrats is precisely four. They’re really streamlining the ol’ red tape there, you know.

Meanwhile I read that LA is facing an $800 million budget shortfall and Mayor Karen Bass says she’ll have to cut the number of city employees. Anyone wanna bet that the cuts will be centered on the police and fire departments — and the bureaucracies that evaluate building permits.

I see that President Donald Trump (what a pleasure it is to type those words!) has agreed to an interview with Jeff Goldberg of The Atlantic.

I also recall an Althouse post which suggested that including Goldberg on the Signal chat was a setup and not an accident. And behold! After release of the text of the chat session Iran informed the Houthis that it was cutting them loose.

Professor Althouse can be a pretty savvy individual.

So, Trump supporters who receive SS and have been deemed
“dead” by Doge, they too will have to go through the wringer to try to get their SS benefits reinstated and labeled alive again. This must be done IN PERSON. Good luck with that after the massive cuts in staff at the SSA.

“We have people who did not receive benefits come in every day with their ID and say, ‘I’m not dead, I’m alive!” says Rennie Glasgow, a claims technical analyst with 15 years of experience at the agency who handles the most challenging cases at the Schenectady office.

These supposed dead are not to be confused with more than 6,000 living immigrants the Trump administration moved to the SSA Death Master File (DMF) in an attempt to force them to self-deport by depriving them of the ability to work legally. Many more American citizens were wrongly consigned to the DMF after Elon Musk’s DOGE goons bullied their way onto the SSA’s databases and mistakenly decided that “countless” people listed as 120 years old and older were receiving benefits.

“[DOGE staffers] went into the system and they killed off people,” Glasgow told The Daily Beast. “About 4 million people, they marked them as dead. But they’re not sure if those people were supposed to be marked as dead, so they’re sending us an email saying, ‘If these people come into the office with their identification, you can reinstate them.””

And if you believe it was an accident that the lawyers posted those- you're naive. Lawyers are a profession filled with people suffering from TDS - who will do anything and everything to undermine him.

Sort of like many Jan 6 lawyers who worked to railroad the people they were "representing".

Determining whether or not someone is alive is "challenging"? I suppose it could be worse, though- they might be tasked with figuring out who's a woman and who isn't.

I heard fairly recently that the problem of living people being marked dead by SSA has been around for decades - the number that sticks in my mind is 4,000 such cases a month, but I can't back out up; it's just from memory. A cleaner and more functional database should help with the problem.

Suppose that Julian was hired as a federal prosecutor, and assigned the task of investigating the mafia, and bringing them to justice. And further suppose, that after 10 or 20 years of working hard at this job, Julian retired, quite wealthy, and was made a member of the mafia's governing council. Sounds legit. A public servant receives his well-earned reward, right?
Meanwhile, 1 in 30 American kids are autistic. And every single former head of the CDC sits on a Pharma board. And we anti-vaxxers are nutbag, tinfoil-hat conspiracy theorists.

It was a P-Inga level effort at rewriting history!

Jupiter said...

I mean, you might think, that if Julian spent his prime hammering the mafia, and wrecking their schemes, and sending them to prison, on a government employees salary, he would be quite generally hated by the mafia, and lucky to have a million or two in his IRAs. But that isn't how it works at CDC. You devote a couple decades to hammering Big Pharma -- just hammering them, and they don't hold it against you. "All in the game! Well-played!" they cry. No hard feelings, bygones be bygones. It's the Pharma code. And yeah, actually, Julian also has a lot more than two million in his retirement accounts. He likely made some good investments, early in his investment career. In fact, he may well have received very substantial royalty payments on vaccines he "regulated". 1 in 100 American kids will never be able to care for themselves, and will never marry, or have a job. Probably something in the water. Or bad parenting.

Why it's almost as if NOBODY EVER BEFORE had to show up to a government office to straighten out an issue.

This is the first time EVER!!!!!!!

Jupiter said...

A lot of these kids don't exactly recognize that they are damaged. That requires a degree of awareness that they don't have. I can tell when I wake up with a hangover, and recognize that I am suffering the inevitable consequences of my self-indulgence. But when you are so damaged that others have fastened a foam-lined helmet to your head so that you can't bash your brains out on the walls, you may well see your situation in terms of "Why must these people stymie my entirely reasonable efforts to address the problems that are tormenting me?". You don't have any concept of a "normal" from which your situation has unaccountably departed.
Their parents, of course, are wracked with guilt and sorrow, and the trained personnel who deal with them all day (that helmet comes off easier than you might think) are exhausted and stunned by the emotional effort needed to refrain from getting angry at kids who can't see reason, and insist upon harming themselves.
But yeah, RFK Jr. is a psycho nutbag paranoid for thinking we should try to figure out why this phenomenon, which was unknown fifty years ago, is now commonplace. Suck it up, Buttercup! Get over it! Shit happens.

Mason G said...

To be fair, you're talking to someone who almost certainly believes that having to show up at a polling place to vote is an insurmountable burden.

Plus he gets to Lourde over all the Western world leaders his team is currently negotiating with. I'm sure there's a thousand other benefits for this trip.

Maybe try getting outside of your feelings, Ralph

US Supreme Court Clears the Way for Ohio to Change Its Constitution (Newsweek)

"The U.S. Supreme Court cleared the way for an Ohio constitutional amendment to end qualified immunity to appear on voters' ballots in a new ruling this week.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, a Republican, had sought to block the amendment from appearing on ballots in 2024 due to concerns about whether the language fairly portrayed the issue, but a majority of the court's justices decided that the amendment petition could move forward this week.

The court's bipartisan ruling means Ohio voters will now have the ability to move to get the amendment on ballots. If it makes it to ballots and eventually passes, the change could have key implications for police officers and public officials who are currently shielded by qualified immunity.

...

The U.S. Supreme Court vacated a stay temporarily imposed by Justice Brett Kavanaugh after Yost sought emergency relief on the amendment. Kavanaugh, along with Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas, dissented. The majority didn't provide any explanation for why they vacated the stay.

The amendment was intended to appear on the 2024 ballot in Ohio but has faced legal challenges. While petitioners received the 1,000 signatures needed for certification, Yost rejected the amendment proposal because he did not believe it passed the truthful and fair standard. Yost denied them eight separate times over language issues, reported The Columbus Dispatch.

In March, Judge James Graham sided with the voters who are behind the amendment, prompting Yost to appeal to the Supreme Court."

Meanwhile, in New Mexico ( not really new, not really Mexico)...

New Mexico Supreme Court Bans Former Judge From Exercising Judicial Authority

"The New Mexico Supreme Court on Tuesday barred a former judge from exercising judicial authority in the state in the future amid reports and court papers stating that an alleged Tren de Aragua gang member was arrested living in a building behind his home on his property.

On Tuesday, the state Supreme Court ruled that the former Dona County Magistrate Judge Joel Cano, who submitted a letter of resignation last month, “shall never again hold, become a candidate for, run for, or stand for election to any New Mexico judicial office in the future.”
It also said that he can never serve or be appointed to a pro tempore position “for any New Mexico judicial office in the future,” which entails positions including municipal, probate, metropolitan, magistrate, district court, appeals court, or Supreme Court judgeships.

“Respondent shall never again hold or exercise any judicial authority in the State of New Mexico,” which also includes “officiating at weddings,” said the court order, which also vacated an oral hearing that was scheduled for Thursday.

Cano, a registered Democrat, had served in the Dona Ana County Magistrate Court in Las Cruces, the second-most populous city in the state and located 40 miles north of the U.S.–Mexico border. A resignation letter uploaded online, dated March 3, said that his last day on the bench was March 21.

...

Court papers filed by federal prosecutors earlier in April, which sought to block the release of Venezuelan illegal immigrant and accused Tren de Aragua member Cristhian Ortega-Lopez, included the names Joel and Nancy Cano and said the suspect was living in their Las Cruces home at the time of the arrest. However, the papers did not provide an age, occupation, or other details about the Canos.

The Epoch Times could not independently verify whether immigration officials arrested Ortega-Lopez at the former judge’s home. Two email accounts that appear to be associated with Cano did not return a request for comment as of Thursday morning.

According to prosecutors, Ortega-Lopez and several others who were detained “were residing at an apartment in El Paso when he eventually met Nancy Cano after getting a job in Las Cruces to install a glass door for her.” Ortega-Lopez then “continued to do a few jobs for Nancy Cano, and after being evicted from the apartment in April, 2024, Nancy Cano offered her ‘casita’ in the back of the residence she shared with her husband Joel Cano,” the court papers added."

@BUMBLE BEE, I’ve been aware of their efforts for a while now. When they first started building shelters for the North Carolinians, the state government made them tear the structures down because they failed to meet code. Consequently the people who’d lost their homes were forced to survive a cold winter in tents.

Yes, the governor of North Carolina (then and still is) is a Democrat. Did you need to ask?

Brilliant plan.. WHO THE FUK would agree with that? enters trump and Putin..Its the same deal Russia gets all Ukraine gets to give up land taken in invasion, cant join NATO and who the fuk trusts Putin in first place.? The US president also made the claim that he had sealed “200 deals” on trade, even though no such pacts have been announced.”
