Just got through Naked Lunch. Reread it and had a more positive reaction then the first time. I was expecting a Top 100 novel of the 20th century - and its not really that. Its not even a novel. Because there's no real story, and its only 180 pages, I read 20 pages every day. Its more enjoyable that way, then in one sitting. You notice the repetition (sic) less.

Interesting analysis of the Canadian election on the BBC. FIrst, the conservative leader not only lost the election, he lost his seat in Parliment. This despite the Tories increasing their vote pecentage by 11 points AND gaining 16 seats to 142.
The tories lost 12 seats to the Liberals, and won 16, so they had a pathetic gain of 4 seats. The NDP lost 17 seats, and the Tories got 10 of those. BQ lost 13 seats, the tories got 1.
Its hard to see how the Conservatives can ever win a majority in Canada. No matter how hard they cuck (and the losing leaders was king of the cucks) and tell the voters they'll be Liberal-lite , the still lose.
Because of the electoral map, 43 percent of popular vote for liberals = 169 seats, while 41 percent for Tories = 142 seats.

The present-day Jews are saying that Christ was not killed by "the Jews," meaning that he wasn't killed by all the Jews alive at the time and who ever lived thereafter; he was killed by a particular mob of Jews in a place at a time who were led by a particular set of Jewish leaders. Holding all Jews responsible is as if to say that an executive order signed by "Biden, The President" is as binding as the Constitution on "the Americans" from now to the end of time.
But one form of antisemitism throughout history has claimed that the all Jewish people did kill Christ and dud call down a curse on themselves throughout history by shouting "His blood be on us and on our children" at the trial of Jesus before Pontius Pilate. This was said at the urging of the high priest, Caiaphas. The antisemitic claim is that the presence of Caiphas made the cry of the crowd an official act defining all Jews forever. It was, so to speak, an amendment to the Constitution, not a shout in a riot.
And there have been pogroms in which Jews died because a corrupt European Christian leader led a mob which did regard the Jews as actually cursed forever because of the actions of the mob led by Caiaphas.
So, historically, "the Jews killed Christ" is a known form of anti-semitism. But these days very few people are engaged in that form of antisemitism. The strong mobs of today are composed of atheistic, Bible-rejecting leftys who have accepted the settler-colonialist ideology. They have no interest in Caiaphas and the question of his authority and its limits.

More about Renaissance festivals: we have friends who take them very seriously. These folks refer to their phones as their "magic," the wife doesn't wear makeup because of course she wouldn't have in Renaissance time, stuff like that. That kind of thing doesn't really happen at the Texas Renaissance Festival, where everyone in a Renaissance style gown seems also to have fairy wings. No one believes they're being authentic.
Dark woke is like our friends, taking themselves super seriously while surrounded by people wearing fake elf ears and corsets on the outside of their clothes. All the relative normies are just trying to look sexy or funny or something - just trying to fit in in the context of a massive cosplay convention - the leftist analog would be virtue signaling. The leadership are being serious about it trying to commit to the bit,, and in the process, are both inauthentic to the venue and no fun.

Speaking of cosplay and Renaissance Faires, for the first time in a very long time--decades--I was driving on Sunday afternoon and passed the northwest corner of Audubon Park where the SCA and LARP types used to have their mock fights.
It was just the same as 50 years ago, but I suspect a lot of the participants were the little kids I saw back then. On account of their long ago homemade costumes I dubbed them the Buckets and Blankets crowd, but they look less cheesy now.
Still dorky though.
Full disclosure: I was in the SCA when I was 14 and 15 - I was an EARNEST girl. Now those people take it seriously.

The disciple John has a reputation for anti-Semitism. I'm not sure why. The passage In John that I cited is the opposite of anti-Semitic.

The sacrifice of Jesus has always been referred to as Good Friday. So the idea that Christians would blame Jews for Good Friday has always been absurd on its face. Aside from the fact that Jesus was Jewish and 99% of his followers were Jewish. I mean, the Bible is wall to wall filled with Jews. It's the opposite of an anti-Semitic book.
I do think the line that wildswan cites is anti-Semitic. And it's in the Bible, so that's annoying.
I doubt very much the mob shouted anything like that. I don't believe any mob anywhere ever shouted that they should be blamed, and their children. Mobs don't shout things like that. Possibly one guy shouted something like that. But it's a really insane thing to shout.
I don't know what witness claimed that statement was shouted by the mob. The 12 disciples weren't there, so `Matthew is relying on witness testimony. John, the alleged `anti-Semite, did not put that ridiculous line in his gospel. It's not in Luke or Mark, either.
I don't know where Matthew 27:25 came from. But it's not the holy spirit, in my opinion. Blood guilt is anti-Christian.

Yes, that's how most Christians think. I cant tell you how many times I've sat in Churches and talked to other Christians about St. John's "antisemitism". Its practically a Sunday tradition.
