"We will eliminate an entire alphabet soup of departments, while preserving their core functions by merging them into a new organization called the Administration for a Healthy America...."

Remind me again.

Is this him or the parody account?

It will be interesting to see how big pharma and the food industry react when everyone finds out how evil our food and health industries are at a core level.

Wait until Judge Boasberg hears about this.

For those Democrats who opposed his appointment, what is wrong with RFK’s objectives or the methods he intends to employ to achieve them. And if you do have legitimate concerns, voice them. He looks like the kind of a guy who will listen.

Fine speech. But nothing in Kennedy's background suggests he is equipped to reorganize an 80,000 department, including cutting it to 60,000 in an organized fashion.

@Readering: So you think the previous head at HHS Xavier Becerra had better qualifications?

Readering said...

Not to turn the agency upside down. But he had run a large agency already.

If it were up to me, I would cut 30,000 and then hire 3,000 forensic accountants. Funny how Biden could hire 80,000 more IRS agent to squeeze even more blood from the taxpayers but closed their eyes to graft and fraud.

@Readering : What large scale agency did Becerra run?

Yeah the department of public health with a new brand more empowering turn of phrase. Got to have that sizzle with the steak.

I don't GAF. Waiting for Bobby Jr to reverse the FDA crackdown on compounding glp1 inhibitors or whatever the hell they call those things that help people shed poundage. This is where you push back against big Pharma if it's really your prime agenda.

He was CA AG.

Nothing in the government’s background suggests an 80,000 department will be any better when a 60,000 person department will do.

Replaced K. Harris and before her G. Brown. So great shape.

Rocco, but how does he get from one to other intelligently?

Good. Can we do the same thing with the 18(!!) Intelligence agencies?

I am guessing that he has Elon on speed dial if he needs advice.

As CA AG Becerra was in charge of approx 4500 individuals. How did that prepare him to run an 80,000 member agency? When he became head of HHS he increased the size of the bureaucracy.

That's not really much to comment on here, without knowing specifically which agencies he's talking about or how their operations are going to change.

I'm good with it. Anyone arguing for 'letting the experts' handle things, apparently missed the last 100 years. The experts have had at it with zero accountability for a century. I find this new trimming of DC both entertaining and enlightened.

It will become apparent to most, if it hasn't already, that our Federal Government somehow turned into a jobs program.

Government has been about "jobs for the boys" since the days of Tammany Hall. What's different now is the way that the Democrat Party itself has become financially dependent on stealing from us all and forcing the taxpayers to finance their own oppression, by way of NGO grants, consultants, paid propaganda, social-media censors, and rogue agencies like USAID.

I've said it repeatedly, the laser-beam focus on smashing USAID to splinters at the beginning of the second Trump administration was a stroke of political genius, and definitely not spontaneous or accidental. This was a targeted assassination of a political party that has grown fat on the taxes of working people. I would not be surprised in the slightest to learn that half the Dems' expenditures in the last election cycle were recycled USAID largess by one devious subterfuge or another.

I’ve been thru about a half dozen RIFs in my career. It’s not exactly something new. I’m sure there is a lot of Best Practice documentation out there. For example, Musk didn’t have much trouble quickly right-sizing X’s workforce. Its workforce was a lot smaller, though.

But if you want a specific example, I think a targeted “List 5 things you did this week” request would shine a light on the scope of the problem.

Boy this is some great stuff. The trump admin is on a MISSION to balance that budget. Wow, I never, EVER thought in my lifetime a political party would have the guts to actually do this. Thank you President Trump, Elon Musk and the rest of the patriots putting it on the line for the country. Because they are taking a ton of arrows.

RFK Jr. between the lines. I don't need DOGE to do my job.

Having been run by politicians and bureaucrats with expertise out the wazoo since just about forever, the country is 36 trillion dollars in debt.

Are you afraid he's going to make things worse? If so, how?

RFK Jr. is growing on me.

I was born after JFK's death, and was too young to recall anything about RFK Sr.. Apart from a few worthless Kennedy cousins who were not really into politics, my entire opinion of the Kennedy family has been formed by Fat Ted, the lecherous drunken socialist pile of shit who killed Mary Jo Kopechne and was almost certainly conniving with the Soviets to help him win the 1984 Democrat nomination and defeat Ronald Reagan. Few politicians have inspired such prolonged and heartfelt loathing in my heart, which is saying something.

His nephew is turning out to be a pretty decent fellow. I wouldn't trust him with economic policy or foreign relations quite yet, but he seems to be in his element at HHS.

You could easily cut the 80,000 to 0 and nobody more than 100 miles from DC would notice a thing.

To be fair, RFK knows how dangerous certain substances can be...like cocaine.
