Things that get my "Trump's masculinity" tag.

Shopping at the Galleria in Houston, Texas

I didn't take this interesting photograph, but the person who did doesn't want to be named. The location is the Galleria in Houston, Texas. Closeup:

The size and positioning of the eagle make me uneasy. Does the eagle have large talons?

If an eagle were the size of a pigeon.

Tiny eagle, tiny junk.

Wasn’t me. I keep my distance from Houston’s Galleria.

If it’s like the galleria in Dallas, it has been reduced from its formerly well heeled clientele to velvet Elvis people. Talons….cynthia Erivo has the talons.

Nandrolone and Chinese HGH will do that to ya.

Dammit Caroline, I was gonna say that I'm holding out for the Black Velvet Trump-inna-Jumpsuit version, comes with a free black light !

The talons of an eagle are as big as your hand.

I have a famously big eagle, Kate.

I think Trump is supposed to be a giant if the eagle is in proper perspective.

This is actually worse than the shirtless Putin riding a bear rendering.

The wall depicts a masculine gender menagerie of males. Ripped feminine males are absent from the Diverse demographic. A lack of albinophobic pride indicates a deeply seated transphobia.

Don't worry, Trump's Iron Skin will not hurt the Eagles talons. Actually, it looks like the eagle is standing on something.

I went on a trip to Ireland a few years ago. One of the most interesting things was a falconry tour. We each had a bird we sent out, called back and fed multiple times. One of our group kept pointing at things he felt interesting with his non-gloved hand. The tour guide pulled him up short. He explained if the bird landed on that arm the bird would clamp down for stability, it would create a deep wound and your effort to shake the bird off would make things much worse. So, yeah that eagle would hurt an average man.
Trump? who knows.

I asked Groc about the Perplexity of Alphabet's Gemini: it said "42", then quickly progressed to trumpet AImerica.

This type of kitschy art dovetails in with the village people theme beloved by Trump supporters. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Mike (MJB Wolf) said...

This is freaky and I have no idea who the target market for such "art" would be. Even the generic idea of posters seems about 30 years out of date.

Yes much worse. At least Putin actually rode the horse. The exaggerations had some basis in truth, the great basis for satire.

Big Mike said...

A bald eagle the size of a starling? Or is Trump meant to be 15 feet tall?

Aggie said...

Those being critical about this art form are just proving they know nothing about decorating trailer houses.

RideSpaceMountain said...

I keep imagining the tiny eagle having the voice of Henery the chickenhawk and whispering all these hilarious things in mega-Trump's ear. Despite its poor taste the image is very meme-worthy.

It appears the artist googled “Tom of Finland” images for inspiration.

It's probably made in China.

Are people deliberately missing the point of the picture?

It would be more interesting to discuss the difference between the political tribe that venerates a strong leader like Trump and the political tribe that pines for a weak leader and obvious Obama puppet like Biden/Kamala.

For example Biden supporters have to be dishonest about what they support just as they are dishonest about who they support.

Trump supporters are open about who they support and what he is doing.

I think this leads to obvious differences in iconography of leaders of each tribe.

Achilles said...

Case in point above with ADMG. ADMG is a part of a dishonest and politically embarrassing political tribe who has grifters and sellouts as leaders.

So ADMG is upset when he sees a strong leader of a different political tribe doing the things he says he was going to do while he was campaigning.

Honesty and consistency are creepy to a nevertrumper.

Trump is manly only in humor that reframes. Women do it with bitching.

Reminiscent of the November 2000 Rolling Stone cover with Al Gore and his enhanced package? That and Esquire's "wide stance" Bill Clinton cover?

Presidential kitsch has been around for a long time. Trump being a larger-than-life figure gets more of it. Hegseth opened the door to presidential tattoos. But maybe don't assume that people who buy thay aren't doing so "ironically."

I happen to know where one such target customer lives.

I'd love to hang that in my garage. I wonder if they ship.

Bad taste, you say? This is America, and bad taste is as American as violence and apple pie.

I think the unnamed photog may be one of the Althouse boys.

Achilles: “For example Biden supporters have to be dishonest about what they support just as they are dishonest about who they support.” This is true of all Democrats, including the apparently benign ones, and cannot be said often enough

There's a whole heapin' helping of timid-adolescent-longing-to-be-strong and/or openly gay adoration/lust in the ridiculous depictions of Trump as a hard body--maximally tumescent in every tissue and vein of his body--especially given the flacid (physically and mentally) reality. Only propagandists or fetishists would generate such images, and only people who long for a fuhrer (the ultimate "daddy") would accept them, much less respond positively to them.

I would not be surprised if, five years ago, some vendor in that mall was selling Anthony Fauci votive candles. As long as I'm not compelled to buy any of that crap, it's fine.

I don't understand what I'm seeing. It looks like the Trump image is digitally superimposed over a photo.

Maybe not, maybe it's a freestanding poster but the edges are too sharp.

"The iconography of Trump is creepy." I'm pretty sure that these things are tongue in cheek. At least I hope they are. On the other hand the murals of Greta and RBG and other lefty heroes seem to be meant seriously.

Anyway, I would really prefer the black velvet version of that painting. It would really class my place up.

We are way overdue for a “Trump is fabulous” tag on this blog.

No, I don't. All my life drawings were drawn in studios at the Art Student League of NY in NYC--this year celebrating its 150th year of existence, (Norman Rockefeller and Jackson Pollack were both alums of the ASL, some decades apart, of course, and light years apart in their modes of expression.) The models, both male and female, posed before classes of, on average, 30 to 40 students, in poses ranging from one minute up to 50 minutes. I attended classes there for about 30 years.

I last attended the ASL sometime in early 2012, and, to my sorrow, I will never have the opportunity to go back there and draw again, as I left NYC three years ago, (at my wife's preference). I had been looking forward to going to the free sketching classes for ASL Life Members once I retired from work. (Sigh.)
