"A new report is shedding more light on why UW-Madison’s director of Division of Diversity, Equity & Educational Achievement lost his job."

"The report, which was released Friday, details how former DDEEA chief LaVar Charleston spent millions of dollars, handed out bonuses and raises, and never fully communicated any of it to anyone else at the school.... But perhaps the most damning part of the report came from what Charleston spent on training, travel, and events. Which totals over $2.5 million last year alone.... The report does not detail where those trips or training took place, or who was allowed to go. UW-Madison removed Charleston from his job at the DDEEA in January, but did not fire him. He’s currently on leave from his $133,000 job as a professor. He made over $300,000 as DEI boss. The report also details how the university’s governance system allowed Charleston to spend so much money without anyone knowing until afterwards...."

The corrupt Left sure do like to waste our money on their extreme comfort and luxury. Because they care ... so much... about others...

It had been previously reported that in 2011, Dane County accepted Dr. LaVar Charleston into the First Offenders Deferred Prosecution program after his felony arrest for the strangulation and suffocation of a Madison police officer.

Probably thought he was untouchable. And until recently he would have been right.

Out of control spending is what important people do, in the black vision of important people.

It has always been a racket. There are many of these schemes coming to light recently. I'm feeling hopeful.

Was the UW governance system really so stupid as to have no idea where all the money he spent actually went?
Or were they simply afraid to challenge a DEI administrator because of his race?

DEI was always a tribal spoils program.

Looked up LaVar. Appears to have never missed a meal. Yes, I am that petty.

80% of people "working" at Colleges and Universities in our country could be fired and it would only improve the education of students at those institutions.

Most of our university system is just a political operation building up a group of paid incompetents who are dependent on the Regime for status and wealth.

DEI is institutional, systemic Diversity (e.g. racism, sexism, and other class-disordered ideologies). #HateLovesAbortion

Any one suprised by this?? What would be a pleasant surprise would be to read that this race hustler was indicted and convicted of fraud, or stealing money. But he apparently is one of the protected colors, under leftist law. So chances are he skates away to do it again somewhere else. I'd bet good money that most of the white leftists, and the man himself are claiming racism and blaming it on Trump

The underlying question of the day, for all of these stories about corrupted institutions, is: What will it take for Progressives to actually process this information, and when will they start to get mad?

What continues to be shocking to me is that all the un- and under-employed PhDs who are barely keeping their heads above water with under-compensated adjunct work are going to continue to blame Trump, Republicans, legislatures not appropriating enough money rather than recognizing that the cause of their un- and under-employment is the massive accumulation of administrative parasites over the past 40 years: that's where all the money for tenure-track jobs went!
But the younger PhDs of America will still blame "capitalism" and "right-wing profiteering" rather than looking at what right in front of their faces.

The great EDU mega salaries scam. Corrupt as it gets.

The faculty Senate knew this, and they knew the destructiveness of political correctness/DEI, but they were too afraid or too self-interested to speak up. Silence of the few -- who then modeled and reinforced it in generations of their charges -- created this cultural time-bomb, which has destroyed a half-century of efforts to improve racial comity.

Tina Trent said...

So is one honest person, one person with unique power, going to stand up and act this time? Will one faculty member launch an investigation into the professor AND the students until they can be charged with theft? Then expelled, and the professor fired, and arrested, and forced to make recompense?

Are there no brillant minds among the law faculty to tackle this task?

Diversity Consultant Tyrone Robinson says:

Thank you for attending my "How to Be a Diversity Consultant" seminar. We are going to have a lot of fun this week, and learn something too!

The first thing to do as a Diversity Consultant is to have at least two English names. Your middle name can be whatever your parents gave you, but your first and last names can't frighten the villagers! That means no apostrophes. No fake foreign prefixes, like De or La. Definitely no Q's.

No diacritical marks! That means no accents, no umlauts, no cedillas, no tildes. Do you think Boomer WASPs can do Unicode? No, they cannot! No non-standard pronunciations of letters - yeah, I'm lookin at you, Sean, Saoirse, and Siobhan. Anglicize the spelling if you want people to say it right. Don't start off your introduction to the client by setting a bear trap in your business card. Or Anglicize the name. Enrique, you can be Henry, Hank, Ricky, Rick, whatever. Same thing goes for Heinrich. Yeah, you thought your sausage-eatin ass was gonna get thru this seminar unscathed? Heh heh. No one escapes Diversity!

Okay, later on today we will put these priniciples into practice with an exercise I call "That's Good, I Know It Can Be Hard to Pronounce."

But let's move on to some financial considerations. Rule Number One: Spread The Wealth. Your client will toss a lot of money at you to show that They Care. You have got to use it responsibly. This means: turn the money right back around onto the employees. All of them! Have a Diversity Festival for everybody. Yeah, you will have to sit thru Buford's clogging or Andreana singing "O Sole Mio" for the thirty-sixth time. But it makes Everybody Part of the Grift. And when everybody is part of the grift, it's not a grift at all.

Nothing will get your program shut down faster than being perceived as Special Money for Special People. And nothing will keep your program going in perpetuity like being perceived as Fun For Everyone. Kind of like the "Pretzel Day" episode of "The Office."

Are you pickin up what I'm puttin down, people? Can I get an Amen?

Alright. Moving on....

I was curious to see what Department he was affiliated with, so I looked that up. Education. I am not surprised. Maybe he can get a job with Fani Wills. She's got billions!

Some rocks have been too muddy and moldy to turn over - until now.
The solution, of course, is to increase funding for higher education and expand the Department of Education. Right?

I am surprised to note (unless I overlooked it, in which case, sorry) that LaVar is married to Sherri Ann, who, mirabile dictu, is DEI Director at Harvard. Oh, and also, was accused of multiple episodes of plagiarism n which LaVar was implicated as well. So, it's a family affair. (Hat tip, Sly and the Family Stone!)

The transformation of ideals into institutions. Eventually the institution is the whole point.

From the linked article: "Between December 1, 2023, and December 1, 2024...DDEEA submitted 72 lump sum increases, 63 of which exceeded a 3% (of base salary) threshold, impacting 89% of the division’s employees—an unusually high percentage," the report explained. "These increases ranged from 10% to 23% of their base salary, amounting to between $6,800 and over $37,000." That’s, uh, generous.

If 72 is 89% of the division’s employees, that makes about 81 employees, which in turn means over $30,000 in training and travel per employee per last year. Say $2,500 per month or $600 per week. I presume any clerical staff employed by the division didn’t see much of this largess, so the big shots in the department likely got more than 30k per year.

I hate to admit it but I'm laughing my ass off at these Big Ten schools in my regional neighborhood spending money like that. FTP. That's how poorly they keep track of their spending? đź’° What a diss on the taxpayers of Wisconsin. To the High School grads of 2025 I say to you, seriously consider going to a trade school. It will take you a year (2 years at most), and then fairly soon you'll be making Big Ten professor level money and with little or no debt. And I reinterate: FTP.
