Elon as Braveheart.

AND: There's also this, from Seneca (at page 46-47 of this collection (commission earned)):
Julius Caesar, when going along the Via Latina, was met by one from a file of guarded prisoners, a man whose beard trailed down to his chest, who asked him for death. “So you’re living now?” Caesar said. That’s how we must respond to those whom death is coming to aid. “You’re afraid to die, but are you living now?”
“But I want to live,” the man says; “I’m doing honorable things. I don’t want to leave behind the duties of life, which I’m carrying out faithfully and diligently.” What, do you not realize that dying, too, is one of those duties of life? You’re not abandoning any duty. There’s no set number of these, no limit you have to reach.
There’s no life that’s not short. If you examine the nature of things, even the life of Nestor is short, or that of Sattia, who ordered inscribed on her tombstone that she had lived ninety-nine years. You see in her someone glorying in a long old age. But who could have endured her, if she had filled out a full century? Just as with storytelling, so with life: it’s important how well it is done, not how long. It doesn’t matter at what point you call a halt. Stop wherever you like; only put a good closer on it.

I'm normally very liberal about threatening or possibly threatening language. It didn't bother me when Madonna talked about wanting to blow up the White House, and while I thought it was in bad taste, when Kathy Griffin held up the fake decapitated head of Trump I also was not bothered, but this seems like something that needs to be investigated and prosecuted. I wonder if this man is or was a Federal employee. They, understandably, seem to be taking the Federal workforce reductions much worse than the typical person.

Elections have consequences, as one short-sighted political figure once said. One of those is a change of leadership in the LE community, perhaps with different views on incitement standards for on-the-record speech.

It is worth noting that Mel Gibson's character was willing to act. Trump and Elon are willing to act. But the man in the Tik Tok seems to be unwilling to act himself. Of those 4 persons which seem to have or to have had good lives and which do not?

You only live twice. Once when you are born and once when you look death in the face.

What did they do to Braveheart? They tied each of his limbs to one of the four posts surrounding the table that he was on, and sliced open his belly with a pike, and while he was still alive, drew out his intestines. Then when he was finally dead, they cut his body into quarters, and hung one of the quarters in the town square of four towns in different corners of the kingdom.

If you don't think that they would like to do the same thing to the guy who is pointing out that they are committing fraud on scales that the Ukrainians can only dream of, well, you are pretty innocent.

What is happening in DC real estate is what happened in Massachusetts when the defense spending was cut due to the end of the Cold War. Of course the defense contractors simply bought Bill Clinton, and made sure that he declared Russia an enemy who must be opposed by military force, even as Putin had asked him about joining NATO.

There will be an "Empire Strikes Back" moment here, and there is no guarantee that they won't win. In fact the smart money bets that way, and if they do win, the economic collapse of the United States will have been baked into the cake.

Already Biden's reckless use of sanctions has turned the world looking for alternatives to the dollar and US treasuries. No matter how much nice Trump makes, he will be gone in four years and nobody is going to trust us again. So DOGE is critical and part of the whole picture.

The whole post reminds me of Hemingway and especially his story "The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber." His life wasn't especially short in biological terms, just the part where he was really living.

Nope. He's a comedian. Or maybe a "comedian". He's also calling on the professionals to do it.

It’s lazy to call on someone else to do something you want done for free…

Wow. I am genuinely shocked. These should absolutely be prosecuted.

There have been 2 attempts on our President’s life. Democrats need to stop encouraging such despicable acts. Democrat leaders, if they want to have a viable political future need to come out and publicly disavow violence toward public or private citizens. And you folks are jerks to make light of this.

It always stings when it's your rice bowl that gets fingered, overturned, or removed, doesn't it? Maybe these newly unemployed Washingtonians will grow some compassion. Bottom line: A recession is when your neighbor loses their job. A depression is when you lose yours. Now the DC crowd lives in an economy that "looks like America" too.

Lots of lefties making a hero out of Luigi. Shooting that CEO to instill fear in others and change their behavior going forward is the definition of terrorism. Many lefties see him as a man of superior virtue and courage.

Really, that's the threat that Trump and Musk pose to this person. He may actually have to do something with his life. Alas, the threat is pretty bad even for free speech. He is literally begging someone to destroy their life by destroying either Trump or Musk's life. The only thing is how pathetic he is in requesting someone kill for him. That's why the TicTok'er probably won't see prison time for soliciting a person for murder.

Lawnerd said...

Musk is an amazing person. His super-hero ability is to take an inefficient thing and make it efficient. He did this to online banking, the auto assembly line, and rocket engines. Why wouldn’t you want Musk to do what he does best with the government? He was a democrat not long ago, and people’s core values don’t really change overnight. The democrats are just reactionary assholes at this point, resisting everything outside the party regardless of the value.

Fringe people say and do fringe things. Assassination was always going to be a risk.

Trump needs to keep the support of the middle. He and Elon should package their actions in a way that doesn't make them seem cruel or inhumane. I suspect bungling in the handling of the Social Security and probationary employees situations.

“Fringe people say and do fringe things.”
On the one hand we don’t advertise cigarettes because we believe it’s possible to persuade people to action but on the other hand we don’t believe it’s possible that advertising Trump=Hitler will not affect the behavior of marginal personalities.
Fringe people can be encouraged to take a certain course of action as in BLM riots. Democrats should stop encouraging them.

I'm waiting to hear the first progressive leftist to cry out in total, wailing outrage, that Elon Musk is now being given Secret Service protection - Which I'm assuming will happen as a consequence of this type of malarkey. C'mon, man !

Deep State Reformer said...

Aggie@2:00PM
Musk more than likely has much better protection services for himself and his family than what the US Secret Service provides. Musk can hire who the hell he wants and doesn't have to worry about DEI hires or the DoJ's civil service BS.
