The AP writer, Adriana Gomez Licon, saw a lot of the black MAGA hats at CPAC. Does wearing the black version of the MAGA hat represent affiliation with Musk?
Also: "Speakers at CPAC frequently brought up DOGE, playfully named after a meme coin with the face of a Shiba Inu dog popularized by Musk in 2021. They variously referred to him as a 'white knight,' a 'hero of free speech,' and according to one of his harshest critics, Steve Bannon, 'Superman.'"

Sobriquet? Maybe comic toponym.
Why does the AP believe it is entitled to White House access? I’ve been watching this press room seat for alternative media and wondering if there are any standards applied to mainstream media. I know a few of the ‘guests’ from alternative media have audiences multiples larger than CNN or MSNBC prime time. Why is there no standard of relevance applied? They act entitled like Massachusetts and the ‘Kennedy seat’…
For supposed news outlets they really struggle with comprehension and recognition of cultural symbols. Once again from the top: the black hats represent an embrace of the villainous persona their enemies apply to them. See examples in the comic book movies Musk et al enjoy and their respective cultural offshoots in pop culture and sports, like my black Patriots hat worn proudly during deflategate…
Acquire a clue media types…
Is it literally legal for a white knight to wear a black hat?
Aren't these the same people who celebrated 'Dark Brandon'?
"AP, which, by the way, is suing Donald Trump for excluding it from White House access"
what ever happened with the New York Post's lawsuit against the Biden admin, when the Post was excluded from access?
Oh! that's Right, there was none..
Because access is a privilege Not a right.. or was

No. Black is simply a durably fashionable color favored by many people. "Color on color" logotypes reflect this trend as well, with black-on-black being very popular. Hot Rods & choppers have used the gloss black-on-matte black theme in custom paint jobs for years. There is no such thing as "dark MAGA" within the sunny optimism of Trump 47.
This strikes me as a feeble attempt by the media to cover for their "Dark Brandon" fetish that ran wild for about eight weeks last year, reaching a fever pitch just before Joe crashed and burned in July. Just like the whole "Brandon" thing itself was a gaslighting attempt by the DNC Media that Republicans seized and turned back on them.
Are you sensing a pattern yet?
The coming attack is to compare Trump to Napoleon, no longer Hitler. There are resemblances in action strategy that will be taken to prove whatever negative can be associated with Napoleon, to be decided. The plan is the resemblances, with the negative so far left dark.
Driven by the contradictory demands of his situation and being at the same time, like a conjurer, under the necessity of keeping the public gaze on himself, as Napoleon's substitute, by springing constant surprises, that is to say, under the necessity of executing a coup d'etat en miniature every day, Bonaparte throws the entire bourgeois economy into confusion, violates everything that seemed inviolable to the Revolution of 1848, makes some tolerant of revolution, others desirous of revolution, and produces anarchy in the name of order, while at the same time stripping its halo from the entire state machine, profanes it and makes it loathsome and ridiculous
Marx, 18th Brumaire of Louis Napoleon (1851)
Marx characterized Napoleon as the most simple-minded in France the task of the 18th Brumier Marx would write was to demonstrate how the class struggle in France created circumstances and relationships that made it possible tor a grotesque mediocrity to play a hero's part.
I got my new Gulf of America t-shirt from Nine Lines Apparel on Saturday. Ready to start wearing it and triggering people!
It's always dark(est MAGA) before the dawn (of a new, Golden Age).
Musk to AP... "How does one keep a moron in suspense?"
The Gulf Stream, which emanates from the gulf flows northeastward. That makes the statement “southward” gulf a bit jarring to me. Shouldn’t it be “southern” gulf, if trying to maintain a neutral stance yet referring adequately to the gulf.
The peanut gallery loves the tabloid fodder
Presumptive reason. Trump was Diversifying... uh, diversifying, and AP was losing its privilege. Bitter clingers.
It could be worse, they could be deemed a "burden" h/t Obama, or exploited in a Whitmer conspiracy for a cover-up, or sacrificed in a Pelosi-rrection for leverage. Consider yourselves fortunate that your only being discriminated under DEI. There's always Palmerism.
A hat has a brim. A cap has a bill. The McCullough Style is to call it a MAGA cap or baseball cap.
The new memo has gone out: Use the word 'dark' a lot this week. We'll paint their souls as 'dark'. They'll be talking about their 'dark conspiracy theories'. It'll be 'dark MAGA'. Then we'll move on to Superman references, then into Nietzsche and the 'darkness of nihilism'. Then it's a short step to Germans -> Nazis -> Hitler -> Fascists. Photoshoots - all catch Elon in his black outfit, in dark settings. Same for Trump. Highlight the light hair, make it look Germanic. Very tired tropes, but hey, they've been reliable...
The AP is suing, and other news organizations have voice support, but I notice nobody's boycotting - yet. Because once they boycott, there's gonna be a bunch of new faces in the White House Briefing Room, pronto. The age of citizen journalists is born with the death of distribution-control, broadcast journalism.
the AP sublet from Gaza, it had stringers on October 7th, its a terrible outlet
AP is suing Trump over WHite House access and some Judge will decide who can attend Trump's press conferences. Talk about Judicial Supremacy. Where in the constitution is that? The Presidency is co-equal branch and doesn't have to let the Judges run the Administration.
"Dark Brandon" was a meme from a few years' back. It was an attempt to turn Biden's "dark" Independence Hall speech from a negative to a positive. "Dark Brandon" was tough, decisive, powerful -- all the things Joe Biden wasn't. "Dark" was supposed to be something good in that meme. When applied to Trump, it isn't.
"Dark" was also the word applied to both Trump inaugural speeches. Saying that things were bad and dark and now they will be good and bright is a "dark" speech. Was the "darkness" in the media's listeners mood or was it something they wished to create in their readers' minds? It wasn't objectively there in the speeches, except as a description of the mess the country was in (perhaps an exaggerated description in 2017, but a fully accurate one now).
So, is there a "Dark MAGA"? There's a comment by Elon Musk, "I am Dark MAGA," and there's an effort to market hats and shirts with that theme. It's been picked up by the meme makers in the same way that "Dark Brandon" was. Somehow, though, it becomes a "movement" -- and a dangerous one -- in media accounts. BTW Elon's "Dark Gothic MAGA" hat was more comical than anything else.
We've been on this road for 9 years. Per the DNC-MSM, Everything Trump does is bad. Everything is does is wrong. Even when his policies produce good results, there's something bad about it.
I skimmed through the Sunday NYT's yesterday and it was a joke. On the front you had a "news" article entitled "The secret of Trump's success, being a habitual liar..."
Even the article on the firing of the Chairman of JCS, was mostly attacks on Trump and not details of who, what, when, and why he was fired.
"Elegant variation" and the easy availability of online thesauruses be damned. I don't think "sobriquet" is the right word.

AP is a megaphone for Democrat loons and Hamas. It is the worst of the media pond scum.
The more light that is beamed upon the deep state, the more they will smear those who direct that sunshine as dark energy.
Democrats have had power for 12 of the last 16 years, and they weren't moderate with it or gracious about it. We're coming out of another period of more extreme leftism culminating in a complete rejection by almost everyone not in on the grift and graft.
