"And we shouldn’t really fight them too hard until just about a week or two before the election. Just let them go."

Said Donald Trump, speaking to the Republican Governors Association yesterday (YouTube).
It’s like, you know, [the Democrats] don’t learn because, you know — like, men in women’s sports. I say we’ve become the party of common sense. Men in women’s sports is not a winner for them. But I saw somebody fighting like hell for the fact that a man should partake in women’s sports, a Democrat, a radical left lunatic. And they’re still going at it. And we shouldn’t really fight them too hard until just about a week or two before the election. Just let them go. Don’t convince them not to. You know, I’m always saying that they haven’t learned. I don’t want to say that. Don’t say that. Let them keep going. And then about a week before the election, just blast the hell out of them.

And yet, he is saying it, so he's got another plan. He's taunting them now — to lure them into speaking or to lull them into not speaking? Even if the Democrats saw it in their interest to just shut up, some of them would speak.

It’s like in a race, you know, you hang in there and then you just go, because there’s no way open borders with prisoners coming in, jails, the worst, some of the worst murderers in the world.... And, you know, when you think about it, transgender everything, everybody should be transgender. These are not things that play very well. I would say they are 7% issues for them. And they’re over 90% for us, but they keep going. So don’t tell them they’re wrong. It’s too long, two years or four years. It’s too long. Let them continue to go and say, I think it’s a brilliant idea to have open borders, to allow prisons and mental institution people to pour in from all over the world.... But about a week before that election, go crazy. Just save up your money....

Trump is exactly right: lure the Democrats into staking out the most extreme positions possible. Don't unleash public revulsion against it until the Democrats have locked themselves in. I am seeking to get my progressive friends on Facebook to do the same: put in writing their support for defunding the police, not deporting criminals, sexually mutilating confused teenagers, providing generous benefits to illegal immigrants, continuing wasteful spending, etc. When the next election comes, don't let them deny what they have been supporting.

Its pretty much true. There's some noodle-brain Progressive leftist politician right now, up in Maine, advocating laws to allow boys to compete with girls in sports, and beat the crap out of them. After this election, with these polling numbers and voter sentiments, on precisely this issue. Let them run with it, and let the voters that are True Blue run with them.

TLDR version: Time for the old rope-a-dope. Just smile and keep your powder dry until you see the whites of their eyes. Winning!

Time will tell - it looks like a winning strategy today. It is built on the premise that "they just can't help themselves" - we have seen little evidence to the contrary to date. Revise as directed by events.

the Democrat party has come out..
for illegal aliens vs Americans
for men vs women
for government employees vs citizens
for insanity vs sanity

when you think about it.. it Truly IS a winning plan

“Don't unleash public revulsion against it until the Democrats have locked themselves in.”

There’s a large reservoir of revulsion that grows larger and may engulf the likes of insurrectionist traitors like Markey, Jeffries, etc.

at Yosemite park, a probationary employee was let go..
So, they Closed the park..
BECAUSE.. according to the Park Service..
That probationary employee was.. THE ONLY EMPLOYEE that was capable of unlocking doors..
Without him, there was NO WAY to get into the park..
So, it closed..
Makes you Wonder, what the park did when that probationary employee was off duty, or on vacation?

Vince’s job as the park’s sole keyholder required him to keep track of the hundreds of keys and locks to the park’s bathrooms, gun safes, administrative buildings and gates, he told the Washington Post.

“We have endless things that need to be secured in various forms, and I’m the sole keeper of those keys..

The Democrats have the right to be silent but they lack the ability.

People believe what they want to believe. The Left has a religious belief in their dogma and sacred cows.

Last night I appeared before the OPPD Board and told them - again - that they need to drop their net zero policy. They won't. Elections are the only way to defeat the Left.

Trump's genius has been to force the Dems to defend the indefensible. They really have no choice because, by virtue of their TDS, anything he proposes, does, or stands for must be wrong and must be opposed. Thus, all Trump has to do is keep doing things that normal people support and believe in.
The Dems seem incapable of saying things like, " He has a point about this." or, " We might be able to work on that with them." Resist yourselves all the way to permanent irrelevancy, fools.

Nicely done. Lure them into speaking or lull them into not speaking.

That's what I like about Althouse. She knows precisely what words mean.

This is their way of punishing us for supporting DOGE policies. It reminds of when NY had a budget crisis, so King Cuomo closed THE BEACH! In the summer! To show us how critical his budget was to our lives.

"Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake," Napoleon said (no doubt sounding better in the original French). Unfortunately, the Russians took his advice to heart, so maybe Althouse's query why is Trump saying this out loud is a good one.

It sounds like the Yosemite problem is indicating a followup-firing - moving up from the probationary employees to the incompetent ones that have been there longer, but don't really want to be there any longer.

Dogma and Pony Show said...

Keeping track of hundreds of keys doesn't really sound that onerous of a task if it's your fulltime job.

gilbar said...

the Problem IS: there is Still NO WAY to fire a permanent Government Employee.. the ONLY ones they COULD fire, were the probationary ones.
Vince (the man at Yosemite in charge of keys), was THREE WEEKS AWAY from permanent status. The previous keyholder had been at Yosemite for TWENTYTHREE Years, and had retired last year.. Which is when Vince became the key employee..

I STILL Wonder, what the park did, when their key man was on vacation?

Closing Yosemite is the standard Leftist tactic. Whenver there's a local/state buget crisis and they want higher taxes, they close the libraries and the parks. This is the Federal version. I wouldn't cut the National Forest Service, that's dumb. But it could be Trump is clearing the decks of all the leftist weirdos Biden was hiring.

What was their plan if he got sick, vacationed went to a funeral etc? Shut down the whole park? Monday all the workers will be back in the office and hopefully they can brainstorm on a better system

The ones out front making the crazy statements, doing stupid dance moves, chanting (Oh God! How I hate chanting!) and demanding their side fight Trump are all highly unattractive unpersuasive and in fact repellant people. Their leadership is a rogue's gallery of crazy-stupid-crooked to the point that the best spokesman lately has been Fetterman! When brain-damaged Lurch is your best foot forward, you NEED to contemplate the next set of moves.

And need it be said, Big Media's authority is sapped, its ability to persuade lower than even the lowest polling Democrat party (22% positive yesterday!) of my lifetime. So there's no being led by the talking heads: they're all lost too.

The entitlement infection hit the park service a long time ago. And they don’t care how egregious their behavior is viewed as being by their employers, the American people.

Charlie Currie said...

Lose one employee = close the park = malicious compliance.

gilbar said...

but wait! Vince's ORDEAL just Keeps Getting WORSE!

"Vince wrote on Instagram that along with the end of his career, he’s also now required to immediately move out of the park’s employee housing — and he’s not alone."

"The worker said he’s not sure who the park will delegate its locksmithing duties to, but that law enforcement in the town of Wawona might need to be called from now on if someone gets locked in or out of a building in the valley."

I looked on Google Maps. and it is 5 miles from Wawona to the main gate at Yosemite

again, i Don't REMEMBER Democrats being concerned about John Deere workers being laid off because their jobs are being moved down to Mexico.

the Democrat party isn't just not pro-worker.. They are ACTIVELY ANTI Worker.

I haven't lived in California for 5 years but as I recall Yosemite was always closed over the winter because the heavy snow of the Sierra Nevada in that area makes the roads completely impassable.

from the park website:
"Yosemite National Park is open 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. However, the Hetch Hetchy Entrance Station is open only during daylight hours (approximately) and some roads are closed due to snow from around November through May or June."

Jasmine Crockett has emerged as the voice of the Democrats. Good luck getting her to shut up. She won't, and even worse for Democrats, the MSM won't ignore her either.

I like how Senator Kennedy framed it, “ You never interfere with your opponent when he’s kicking his own ass!”

John Althouse Cohen said...

I don't think Trump really believes that. In a presidential election, the idea of waiting a week before Election Day before starting to make your argument doesn't even make sense given early voting.

Said by me in the most condescending way possible: They should stop talking.

If Yosemite Park is closed, I guess we don’t need any employees there. The ones who closed the park should think about that.

Sebastian said...

"to lure them into speaking or to lull them into not speaking?" Lure or lull aside, Dems themselves face a dilemma: they need some change to appeal to the public, but the vocal left base demands fealty to prog positions. It's not just a matter of speaking or not, but what to say. If I were them, I'd STFU, wait it out, let Trump chaos take its course and inflation rekindle. Fortunately, they're Dems.

It's like when they closed the monuments, even the outdoor ones, during the government shutdown. They took the trouble to put ropes up to keep people away from statues, just out of spite.

I find it very hard to believe that a probationary employee, ie a newbie, is the only guy with this institutional knowledge to find and use keys.
