The cropped image being 'all white' was what I noticed, because I immediately went to 'white supremacy race card'. It doesn't surprise me that the disproof of this has been cropped out of the photo, any more than it surprises me that it was put at the margins by the photographer. I also note that it appears that a mixed race man was blanked out by the 'BL' in 'TABLE'.

Consider this- whoever cropped that photo knew he/she would get called out for it by someone, so they left themselves a modest defense- they left the right hand of a black guy in the photo knowing their readers wouldn't notice it themselves.

Yes, it's the branding or stereotyping aspect that's being called to attention. You could take a picture of a media cocktail party in NYC, a party where everyone is young, attractive, and well-dressed and everyone voted for Harris (or a candidate further left), and the left would still see that as a Republican event. Even those who were actually at the event would read the photo that way. If truckers at a Texas barbeque are Trumpers and Manhattan socialites are Trumpers, what's the ready to hand icon that unambiguously represents the left?

I get your point about derogatory physical, psychological and cognitive terms used to describe the left, but I think you miss part of Matt's point. It is the left that describes positive characteristics as "right" (punctuality, duty, honor, etc) and demands that all policy be fashioned in service to the needs/demands of the least assimilated in the majority culture. When people think of woke activists, they picture what Walsh describes for a reason. He didn't make the rules and the left is vulnerable when forced to live by their rules.

Why?
I see Matt’ comments as not coming from an instigator but more as a reporter observing social trends. All of those charges against the left have been around for some time now - whether one agrees with them or not. As an example, Michael Savage wrote a book called Liberalism is a Mental Disorder two decades ago, and he didn’t originate the idea back then.
This though does point out a trend that we saw during the end of the campaign. The cool kids really are better looking and more popular. I first saw it in maybe last spring when a fraternity house dressed up in sport coats, ties, and Trump hats. All good looking clean cut kids. And by October, hot chicks in Trump apparel were all over UTube and TikTok. And it’s maybe even more the non-college kids. Oldest two grandkids, in their early 20s, neither in college are big, buff, and cut. Both are chick magnets. Very conservative. Next two, in their late teens, and a hippie mom, are skinny in comparison, partly maybe due to their mother’s vegan kick. See a lot of hot young adults, of different races here at Trump. But no overweight green (etc) haired harridans, or ugly guys dressing as girls. We did have one guy in a dress who wanted to use the restrooms, but was escorted to the men’s room, and timed.
If I were college aged these days, I would likely be a Republican. The conservative chicks are far hotter. Instead of being overweight (at such a young age), they show off their hot bodies. And face it - the young women in that photo were all very attractive.
Except for a significantly larger chest on that one, she reminds me a lot of an old GF from my college years. We are still close. It’s the face, the cheeks, and the mouth. Plus, she was blond back then (my only blond GF, and it was dyed, but a good enough job, that I never knew). And was well enough groomed to have fit in that crowd. Amazingly, this friend just had her first grandkid a couple weeks ago, and sent me a photo of her this morning. But then, I am a year and a half older, and got my first one last summer.

Last point: What’s sad about the Walsh comments, is the underlying desire to be cool, for once to be the teller of the jokes - instead of the object of the jokes. If you’re a conservative, if you’re a Republican - become comfortable with the knowledge that you will never be cool. Coolness involves a romance with destruction. Conservatism is concerned with building. Destruction is sometimes useful but it’s the romance, the high that accompanies it for some people that makes it cool.

However, it might be possible for (some) Republicans to be cool if they can stiffen their spines enough not to care if they are cool or not: just do what you think is the right thing to do without constantly begging for approval. Military guys, firefighters, and people who are successful in working with their hands are cool. Builders are cool.
I think an old-fashioned, "strong silent type" of cool is already coming into fashion, perhaps because it is such a massive contrast with the frantic scrabbling for attention and validation in our era of "thirst traps."
