"The report... includes details that will almost certainly fuel the 'fedsurrection' narrative that has been growing on the right and amongst Donald Trump supporters..."

"... The false notion that the federal government was responsible for instigating the attack. While the review found 'no evidence in the materials we reviewed or the testimony we received showing or suggesting that the FBI had undercover employees in the various protest crowds, or at the Capitol, on January 6,' the inspector general's office said that there were 26 confidential human sources in Washington on Jan. 6. None of them were 'authorized by the FBI to enter the Capitol or a restricted area or to otherwise break the law on January 6, nor was any CHS directed by the FBI to encourage others to commit illegal acts on January 6,' the inspector general said. A total of four FBI confidential human sources entered the Capitol, according to the inspector general, including one who testified during the Proud Boys trial in which several members of the far-right group were found guilty of seditious conspiracy. A total of 13 confidential human sources entered the restricted area around the Capitol, the IG report said, while the remaining 9 never entered the Capitol or restricted area...."

'the false notion' Why the editorializing?

Pointedly does not discuss definitely not a fed Ray Epps.

You remember Ray Epps. He was the one filmed urging people to attack the Capital. He's definitely not a fed.

How do I know that? Because of all the people who attended the J6 events, only one got 15 minutes on CBSNews' 60 Minutes for the sole purpose of trying to convince Americans that he's not a Fed.

He only got 6 months probation for inciting the riot that occurred that day, so you know, definitely not a Fed or anything. A grandmother who merely attended the Capital that day got 4 years after the FBI spent 3 years hunting her down and creating a whole new way to identify people even if they're wearing masks.

So yeah, Rap Epps is definitely not a federal agent who put his entire family in harms way by convincing people to go into the Capital that day so Nancy Pelosi could have them arrested and jailed years later for "trespassing."

So whatever you do, if you meet Ray Epps in real life, don't do anything to him. Definitely don't pull a Luigi on him. Because he's not a fed.

13 entered the restricted area without authorization. That’s trespass. I’ve heard people have been given sentences of several years for trespassing on Capitol grounds that day. What were the sentences for these 13 people?

“None of the FBI informants have been prosecuted in relation to the Jan. 6 attack”

Oh? Oh!

"Found no evidence" has gotten a lot of use in the Biden administration.

I forgot to add that you might remember 60 Minutes. Yeah, they were the ones who typed up those fake Texas Air National Guard memos with Microsoft Word to rig the 2016 election. Yeah, those guys assure us that Ray Epps would never put his wife's life in danger by being a fed and inciting a riot that resulted in thousands of Americans being put in DC gulags.

[they ALL just showed "initiative" ]

nor was any CHS directed by the FBI to encourage others to commit illegal acts
[they weren't "directed"; they all just KNEW it was WHY THEY WERE THERE]

How we know that the Feds totally instigated J6 is that NBCNews is out there up front calling that a false notion.

They wouldn't be doing that if it weren't true.

NBCNews is the Pravda of the US Deep State. Whatever they write is 100% the opposite of the truth.

The point isn't really whether they were authorized to enter a restricted area, but did they act to encourage others to enter?

The fake Whitmer kidnapping attempt. A female "paid" by the FBI, whether agent or informant, just couldn't get the local losers to admit they wanted to commit a serious crime. So she slept with one of them, hoping the pillow talk would be more incriminating. "Baby, don't you want to get really famous and kidnap the Governor? Just wait to see what I'll do for you if you do a big manly thing like that!" "No baby, the bigtime crime is all your idea, and what you've already done for me is fine. Hell, it's a dream come true. I thought only a cheap skank would act the way you act."

The famous Charlottesville episode. Opposed camps on the Robert E. Lee statue question are somehow given permits to be at the same place at the same time. At some point the state police were in charge, under the direction of Governor, arch-Clintonite, Terry McAuliffe. Surely McAuliffe was hoping for some kind of trouble that could be blamed on Trump, who had actually had nothing to do with any of it. A murder served McAuliffe's purpose.

Like I have posted here before, Trump walked into an obvious trap on January 6th. Now it is up to Pam Biondi and Kash Patel to find out who was behind this. The FBI and DOJ tried to jail Trump over J6.

Dave Begley said...

I suspect that Chris Wray was deeply involved with this trap. And if he lied to Congress, 3 or 4 years in the slammer sounds right to me. He was trying to undermine our democracy by setting up Trump and ultimately jail him!

It's a funny thing about memory, but I remember a bunch of Jan 6th closed-circuit surveillance camera video being released when Republicans took the House 2 years ago - hundreds of hours of it - and then all of a sudden, it wasn't so available any more, after a few days. What was that all about, Mr. 'This-is-my-innocent-face' FBI? And then, I remember seeing clips from that video collection of plain-clothed agents chatting with uniformed security people inside the building, and then doors being opened, and people being waved in, supposedly to progress the armed / unarmed 'un'surrection. Why were these insiders plain-clothed, did they report for work on their days off? Who were they, and what were their activities that day? They're on camera, and therefore capable of being identified .

Was this an example of Inspector-General 'lite' ? Qualified minds want to know

I skimmed through the report, its more of a coverup than an investigation. Wray and his 2nd in command did not speak to the IG, nor did the IG verify a lot of statements by others. They accepted their word. Anyway, its ridiculous to think you'll get the WHOLE truth when its the FBI investigating the FBI. Or the DoJ investigating itself.

But anyway, we know there were 26 FBI assets in the J6 crowd, none of whom were punished for crimes. How many from DHS, or other federal agencies? How many from informants from the State and DC Police?

This whole thing has been a political lie from Day 1, and a travesty of justice for those who just walked around the Capital and stayed "inside the ropes". Hopefully Trump will pardon them. And I hope Ashli Babbitt's family is compensated for her murder, and LT Byrd is finally brought to justice.

When you chose the "materials you review" and the "testimony you receive" (and more importantly, what not to review and who not to talk to), you can make damned certain that you will receive nothing showing or suggesting wrongdoing.

When the 'experts' claim in unison that something is a right-wing conspiracy, you can pretty much consider true, to be officially announced anywhere from 2-4 years later. The only exception is when RFK Jr. says something that is called conspiracy thinking. It'll still be shown to be true, but he's not right-wing.

DO NOT believe the findings of any federal Inspector General. They, along with Human Resources and General Counsel (legal) staff, mainly function as a protection force for management. They fill those offices with yes men and women, marginally-qualified staff, and read the evidence as narrowly...as they can get away with...

Enigma said...

The main finding (there were indeed dozens of government insiders) is "fact checked" before the main finding was reported. This is known as burying the lede.

Enigma said...

"Inspector General" only means the office checks a list of boxes that their own managers tell them to check. The work around to this circular system used to be an independent/special counsel, but that went sideways when they turned the Mueller Investigation into a manipulated partisan affair too.

Enigma said...

Indeed. It has been one of the most accurate early news sources out there.

Enigma said...

A long time ago I read a story saying that the FBI's problems came from (1) the legacy of dirty J Edgar Hoover and his many political games, plus (2) the FBI routinely promoted bad "basket case" field employees out of the way, so the worst staff all ended up in the D.C. headquarters building. [This is a routine federal agency practice -- bad employees hold busy-work jobs and have someone watching them.]

Just moving the FBI to another location won't help if the current staff were promoted over their heads. The government truly needs an effective way to fire their awful employees, but now they keep them as festering ulcers. The bad apples spread the rot everywhere.

Enigma said...

Don't be too smart for your own good! You are not allowed to verify semantics and will get a knock on your door from the secret police soon. Only the Democrats can imply "collusion" is a crime as they execute a literal conspiracy to impeach -- seeking to hide uncomfortable facts about Pelosi's management failures and Biden's corruption.

Enigma said...

Obvious. Key word obvious. I concur. Trump from 2016 to assassination attempt #1 in 2024 was often profoundly naive about the machinations of Machiavellian D.C. He had the soul of an old-school true believer patriot, and also gigantic blind spots.

When Trump said "drain the swamp" 8 full years ago, the clever and diabolical creatures who created the swamp for personal advantage began to trap, trick, and work to aggressively remove the threat.

Enigma said...

The right is easily manipulated because they forget all about government when they get their way. They tend to avoid government and often want to "solve" problems by defunding or disbanding agencies, and by executing rapid "final" solutions (e.g., DOGE).

The right rarely grasps that the pro-government faction and workforce sees administration and central control as a positive and as a life mission. If central controllers are pushed aside, they bring it all back for version 2.0 in four years, version 3.0 in eight years, etc. They LOVE knowledge, control, and to manipulate.

The only effective solution for the right is to engage with everything they hate and instinctively avoid. They must treat government as a disgusting chore, but an essential chore. You must: Wipe your butt. Flush the toilet. Clean the septic tank. Day after day, year after year.

Enigma said...

I suspect some fell into the Ruby Ridge trap: They got tagged for a nominal felony and told to play ball or end up in prison. There are probably a good number of ideological haters too, as Trump made millions of enemies and some were conservatives or had the looks to hide in the crowd.

The media never used to pre-emptively label conspiracy theories as false. It even promoted some of them. "Conspiracy theories" were regarded as starting points for investigations. Reporters no longer want to get their fingers dirty investigating anything.

The idea that FBI assets were there on their own is silly and only confirms the suspicion that they were purposely sent there by the bureau. But what about those five famous guys in sunglasses, blue shirts, and cut-off jeans who have become a meme of FBI agents in the crowd? Has anybody identified them?

Mike (MJB Wolf) said...

For some reason we still have no idea who built the stage-prop like "gallows" that day. Seems like whomever hauled lumber to the steps and assembled it would be easy to trace, certainly as easy as the trespassers charged with being near but not in the Capitol that day. My leftist acquaintances and several regulars here have stated with certainty that Trump [who was NOT there] "tried to hang his own vice- president."

This should be at least as easy to solve as the DNC bomber, right?

Aggie said...

Calling it "false" seems incredibly arrogant, and tyrannical, to me. This is the same construction the NYT used about reports that FEMA was ignoring Trump Supporters' homes.
