Perhaps they are lying in wait.

That's my answer to Glenn Greenwald's question: "Is there a single Democrat in DC politics or media remotely acting as if a New Hitler will assume power in a month?"

Look around: There are the drones, the "bird flu"... these things are in the air... circling. Something will happen, I'm afraid. Be vigilant.

Half of the left now recognizes that TDS was indeed derangment. The other half will die manning the barricades. Many of the zealots (e.g., AOC, David Hogg) lack sophistication and will crudely charge ahead.

I suspect that the moderate left will go along with Trump peacefully this time around, and push the hard left aside or into...the 1970s terror model?

There is no reason to believe the Democrats, their Deep State and their leftmediaswine will receive the Trump Administration in good faith or even lawfully.

Is there a single Democrat acting as if they're an elected official, Senator or Representative? We have Trump & Co. actively influencing events with little to no pushback or protest from any of the usual suspects that claim horror and catastrophe - in the weeks prior to actually taking power. It would seem that all of Washington DC is pre-occupied with their next gig, they're all cleaning out their desks or something. Never has a better argument been presented on the actual usefulness of government attention - it only seems to appear when there is cynical gain involved, and absent when it could be doing some good.

Not necessarily democrats, but the deep state sure is. When it comes to power, there are no coincidences. It's sad, but it's plausible to consider a false flag is incoming. I put nothing past these people.

Anyone that thinks the Dems are cowed hasn't observed the swerve to the left of the Demmie powerbase--a coalition of black women, university academics (look at those GOP/Dem ratios among the professoriat), plutocrats seeking protective coloration (Bezos, Zuckerberg, all those Silicon Valley nincompoops), corporate CEO slicks, etc. They are lying in wait, and when any MAGA Republican gets wounded, the Demmies will be there with scalping knives. Even geriatrics like Pelosi and Schumer think that the future belongs to them.

If they do have some sinister plan up their sleeve, it only works if the American people fall in line. They hypnotized liberals (especially 'educated' white women) during COVID.

The demographic shifts toward Trump must have them spooked. And now the real time influence of X is something they can't control. We'll see.

Gusty Winds said...

At the moment there is a power vacuum. Biden is, and has been an absent President. Kamala in now NOTHING. The bullshit CR was blown up yesterday because of X, Musk, Vivek, and Trump. They tried yesterday and failed.

BTW. Does anybody REALLY give a shit if the gov't shuts down?

Any street protests against Trump are likely to be heavily entangled with the open antisemitism of the pro-Palestinian activists. That will turn off enough suburban Democrats to make mass action difficult.

To survive, Trump should a minimum (1) fire everyone he can possibly fire and not carry over any political appointee, (2) pull the security clearances of every known hostile such as the 51 bumbling spies, (3) put those he does not trust but cannot fire in a rubber room job in Alaska, and (4) declassify as much of the insider dirt from JFK 1963 to 2024 as possible.

Some deep state employees working under cover at the State Department may become "special envoys for border security" and process unvaxxed deportees one by one.

The absence of a violent response to the election from the left's street brigades is hard to explain unless that absence is orchestrated.

That would require a near total control over the actions of multiple factions which is hard to swallow, but seems clear.

Who's pulling the strings. Soros alone isn't that powerful. Someone reined them in.

Since the election, the Silicon Valley nincompoops seem to be trooping into Mar-a-Lago to bend the knee and kiss the ring. I have also noticed that I can say things on Facebook and Reddit and YouTube that would (and did) get me suspended just a few years ago.

The tech tycoons are, by and large, spineless amoral autists who quailed before leftist wokery in the days of George Floyd and COVID. Five years on they have seen what it does to the productivity and cohesiveness of their companies, and are getting as sick of the purple-haired ham-beasts as all the rest of us are.

They're on hiatus -- or it's the half-time break. The playbook has already been written decades ago. When Trump makes his first move as president, they'll counter with the familiar hoary old responses. When the Democrats do pounce, the month or two of pre-inauguration good feeling will let their audience forget every inconvenient fact or circumstance that gets in the way of the message, and they'll respond as if everything they hear again is something fresh that they're hearing for the first time.

Rabel: ref the absence of a street response:

Is it an orchestrated absence, or an absence of orchestration?

The breakup of the D monolith into multiple factions means that no street brigade can be sure of impunity. Kash’s FBI might use the same facial-recognition techniques used on the J6ers to track them down. Even blue city mayors might break down and order them locked up.

And of course, with his blue-city rallies, Trump showed how he can put his own street brigades anywhere he wants.

Takes a special breed of political street fighter to actually fight on the street. Most of the blue hairs and casual looters dont have it in them.

Robert Cook, you might want to review your 2:13pm comment - I think you've been inadvertantly truthful.

You may recall that Trump was in office for four years, did not act like a monster, mobster, or fascist, responded to COVID in the same way as almost every other world leader and indeed more moderately than Biden did after the period of greatest crisis, and walked out of the White House without demur on Jan. 20, 2021. (Actually I'm pretty sure you recall those four years differently from the way I recall them. But there are facts involved. It's fine that you hate him and it's fine that you generally vote Green but this time pulled the lever for Harris. But you'd do well to get your reasons straight and base them on facts, if you can find some in which to ground your hatred.)

Good question.

I'm afraid that we will see a violent response. Not necessarily in this context, though inauguration day is as good as any other day. I'm expecting a coordinated day of terrorism to occur inside an unprepared USA in the near future as a result of our ridiculously porous borders. Our enemies are walking in, and they long for their virgins.
