Clyde's Top 15 Favorite "New" Songs of 2024 - Part 8 of 16

#9 The Cranberries - "Go Your Own Way" - To The Faithful Departed - 1996

The Cranberries cover of the Fleetwood Mac song "Go Your Own Way" was recorded in 1996 during the sessions for their album To The Faithful Departed. It first appeared in 1998 on a cover album Legacy: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, and was later included as a bonus track on the re-release of To The Faithful Departed in 2002.

Dolores O'Riordan's distinctive vocals put a unique twist on the classic song, and it was well received by fans when it came out. I was listening to a cover songs playlist on Amazon a while back and stumbled across this and really liked it.

Grok says

Here's an attempt at an obituary for Ricky Henderson, written in his unique, third-person style:

Ricky Henderson, the greatest base stealer the game of baseball has ever seen, has finally stolen his last base. He passed away 20 December 2024, leaving behind a legacy that is as unmatched as his speed on the diamond.

Ricky Henderson was born on December 25, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois. From the moment he picked up a baseball, Ricky knew he was destined for greatness. "Ricky's gonna steal the show," he'd say, and boy, did he ever. Over his illustrious career, Ricky Henderson set records that define the very essence of baseball.

Ricky led the league in stolen bases a record 12 times, proving time and again that no lead was safe when he was on base. His record of 1,406 career stolen bases still stands, a testament to his unparalleled speed and cunning. But Ricky wasn't just about speed; he had the power too, with 297 home runs, showcasing that he was a complete player.

In 1982, Ricky Henderson had perhaps his most memorable season, setting the single-season record with 130 stolen bases. "Ricky was just being Ricky," he'd say, but everyone knew it was something more. That season, he also led the league in runs scored, proving he was not just a one-trick pony but a force on every facet of the game.

Ricky Henderson was not just about stats; he was about style, flair, and bringing joy to the game. His famous quote, "Ricky's the best, Ricky knows Ricky's the best," wasn't just bravado; it was a fact. He was a 10-time All-Star, won the AL MVP in 1990, and his number 24 was retired by the Oakland Athletics, where he made history.

Off the field, Ricky was a character, always talking about himself in the third person, which only added to his legend. He was known for his love of the game and his unique way of speaking, which made every interview or encounter memorable.

Ricky Henderson leaves behind a family, countless fans, and a legacy that will be studied and celebrated for generations. He may have stolen his last base in this world, but in the hearts of baseball fans, Ricky Henderson will forever be stealing the show.

Rest in peace, Ricky. The game won't be the same without you.

Guatemalan "migrant." Invaded America to pick the strawberries in the New York subway that Americans can't be bothered to pick.

After all, if we didn't have "migrants" who would pick the crops they grow in the subway system?

I’d be cool with suspending that pesky 8th amendment just for this guy. If he reall likes to watch people burn to death we could put a mirror in front of the stake and pile of kindling he’d be chained to.

Penny didn't have to "express remorse" to anyone, because he was found Not Guilty by a jury.
People found guilty are forced to "express remorse" so the All-Powerful State doesn't sentence them too harshly.
What a dishonest twit.
