Waiting for Biden to speak.

It’s not a concession speech. It’s… perhaps something graceful and inspiring.

Are we talking about the same Joe Biden? Because if we are that’s not the way to bet.

He wants to do his "veins bulging", fine-people schtick one last time. He so fond of it.

Seriously, I have no patience for insincere conciliatory statements from Joe Biden. Mega-MAGA, his Reichstag speech, Charlottesville, attempting to jail his opponent… is, in part, why his VP lost this election. Just shut up and shuffle into the sunset you nasty old bastard.

Joe Biden already gave his concession speech.

It was epic.

I think it was a well-written, well-delivered short speech.

I was annoyed, however, that immediately afterwards the winsome female White House correspondent was in my face telling me what Biden just said and meant.

The guy that helped launch Crossfire Hurricane and set the weaponized government against the lawfully elected President-Elect of the US in 2016 to set him up as a russian asset and destroy him and followed that up with the Charlottesville "fine people" hoax, will, perhaps, say something graceful and inspiring".

It'd be nice, but it will probably be like Kamala's bullshit 'resist we much' speech yesterday. "We will continue this fight in the voting booth [cool, that's the place for it], in the courts [bullshit lawfare continues, folks], and the public square [hey, Antifa? make sure all your black clothes are ready].

Note also what was missing: any pledge to try to work together. Just divisive rhetoric. Toned down from "you're a nazi", but divisive nonetheless.

Kate said...

Hahahaha!

But I hope you're right. Also, hahahaha.

Original Mike said...

His comments about losing and picking yourself back up, etc. seem more appropriate for a private speech to his staff, not an address to the nation.

Odd that he exits the White House in sun glasses, and then takes them off outside. How bright are the inside lights?

Biden seems almost cheerful.

Yancey Ward said...

Biden might have lost on Tuesday, too, but he has far superior political instincts than does Kamalamadingbat. The Democrats didn't make a mistake in changing candidates in July- the mistake was making Harris the replacement.

planetgeo said...

In fact the tone was gracious and statesmanlike. Moreover, that was the most relaxed and lucid Biden has looked and sounded in years, likely because the pressures of campaigning were gone and especially because he now feels a good measure of schadenfreude himself since Kamala lost. The extreme rhetoric was gone. He said the right things to support a peaceful transition, whether sincere or not. He was brief. He smiled. A catbird seat smile. He feels vindicated and content.

PM said...

No doubt.

Yancey Ward said...

Biden gets to spend the rest of his life saying, "I told you so," to Obama, Pelosi, Schumer, and all the other people who stabbed him in the back. Biden literally couldn't lose on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning- it was win/win for Biden no matter the outcome.

Joe Biden: Yesterday I spoke with President-elect Trump. I told him I'd talk nice today if he doesn't say too much when I pardon my son.

I also spoke with Vice President Harris. I told her she did exactly as was expected.

Thank you.

Mike (MJB Wolf) said...

Actually he had a big shit-eating grin. But I had the sound off, so I'm not sure why he was so happy, except that he can still brag that only he among all Democrats beat Trump.

narciso said...

Thats the way i read it

Yancey Ward said...

The other plus is that he can now pardon his son without any political ramifications. If Biden is smart enough, he will couple it with full pardons for the January 6th political prisoners his DoJ has put into their gulags.

Mike (MJB Wolf) said...

Bingo!

RCOCEAN II said...

Its OK. Suprisingly calm and well done for "Slow Joe" who 5 months ago was calling Trump a nazi. Sadly, he had lie about the election showing "there is no voter fraud". No, the fraud is going in Az and Calf right now, as the D's try to steal house seats and one Senate seat.

The only thing this election proved is the Republican candidate can overcome the election fraud is he wins by a big enough margin. Sometimes the vote count is so big, you cant steal it. And after 2020, the R's were on the look-out. And lots of the power elite were OK with Trump getting elected or not that scared of his return to power. Notice, that Zuckerberg didn't put in a zilllion dollars for "get out the vote". Nor was there the coordination between labor unions and others like there was in 2020.

Biden's going to need a few more face-lifts before he can convince us that we haven't been governed by reptilian lizard people for the last four years.

RideSpaceMountain said...

No one will ever forget Biden's "Red Wedding" Soul Of The Nation speech delivered complete with USMC Praetorians. For me and millions of other veterans that was a major inflection point. I remember boiling with homicidal rage. That a C-In-C was willing to vilify half the country like that was inexcusable. RideSpaceMountain was ready to choke a geezer. At that moment I felt a hatred for country and countrymen that must've been similar in intensity to what my ancestors felt during the 'War Between The States'.

I will never forgive Biden or his enablers for that or his presidency. 100% blame rests on him and his supporters' and voters' shoulders for ever making that possible.

planetgeo said...

Coupling a pardon of Hunter with all the J6 political prisoners would be a genius level move for multiple reasons and would protect his perceived legacy.

Iman said...

Biden preemptively taking credit for the good things Trump will deliver

RCOCEAN II said...

Why do people keep thinking Biden might do the right thing? Its amazing how the Left regards you as an enemy for life if you cross them on one issue, while the Right still thinks you're a "good Guy deep down" who might do the right thing, even though they've been completely evil and kicked the Center-Right in the balls a 1000 times for 4 years.

Already Trumpers are talking about "extending an olive branch" and "reaching accross the aisle". Amazing!

Quaestor said...

Nice, work RideSpaceMountain. But as a limerick it doesn't scan. Here's Google's AI defintion: "The meter pattern for a limerick is anapestic, which means that two unstressed syllables are followed by a stressed syllable. The first, second, and fifth lines of a limerick each have three anapests, while the third and fourth lines have two anapests"

Your 3rd and 4th are too long

Try this variation:

There once was a POTUS called Biden
Whose dementia they failed in the hidin'.
It was BamBam's third term,
And caused by a germ.
"Worse than Carter" the wise will be writin'.

Iman said...

You are correct, sir!

NorthOfTheOneOhOne said...

When do we get Obama's concession speech? He's the one calling the shots.

Skeptical Voter said...

Give Joey a break. Yes he's senile, mean and nasty by nature and he did a crummy job. But if his speech writers give him something nice to say, and if he can read his teleprompter and stick to the script, he can do a Potemkin show of grace. And I heard (perhaps wrongly) that he did call Trump promptly after the election result was certain. Now that may have been just one more gig in Kamala's side---but it was gracious.

Quaestor said...

Oops two many feet in my third line. Lemme fix it:

There once was a POTUS called Biden
Whose dementia they failed in the hidin'.
T'was BamBam's third term,
And caused by a germ.
"Worse than Carter" the wise will be writin'.

"Waiting for Biden to Speak"

It seems to me we've been waiting for Biden to speak for well over four years. I do not count the monkey grunts and chirps that usually issue forth from his mouth as speech, not HUMAN speech at any rate.

Waiting for Biden to Speak is a great title for a comedic three-act.

Act I, Scene i -- At rise Barry and Billy are seen standing amid the ruins of a once great metropolis.
BERRY: He will speak soon.
BILLY: He'd better; I need me a babe... Look at that one! Hoo-wee!
BERRY: Calm yourself, Epstein guarantees delivery.
BILLY: Need nookie now!
BERRY: Hush! Our servitor is about to speak!
BILLY: Don't hear nothin'.
BERRY: Any moment now...

Act II, Scene ii -- At rise, Billy and Berry are still standing listlessly amid the burned concrete and rubble. Enter a tough-looking but ragged lesbian called Crankles. She is leading a slave called Clucky by a noose around its neck.
CRANKLES: Did I miss Biden's speech?
BARRY: No, he's still shuffling his notes.
BILLY: How much for the babe?

I thought he was clearly setting himself/the Dems up to take credit for anything good that happens during Trump's term - he spoke of many projects that he set up that take time to come to fruition - new infrastructure, for example (although I thought we were still waiting for Obama's "shovel-ready" stuff to get finished!) and the like. He also tried to say that the fact that they let DJT win this one fairly means that all elections (ahem) are necessarily fair, 15 million vanished votes notwithstanding.

Harris spoke yesterday afternoon, continuing the Democrat practice of not conceding until they've figured out if sufficient fraud can be committed to win.

Biden is also the chief Federal election official, as Trump was in 2020, so it was important he make known his opinion on the conduct of the election.

Rabel said...

That's probably petty close to what he's actually saying in private.

Trump is going to inherit a great economy.

And the day after he's inaugurated, Trump is going to say, “there it is — we’ve solved everything — the economy is great.” And for a year, he's going to skate on Biden's soft landing. Trump's going to take total credit for that. He's then going to screw the pooch. He's going to do that thing with tariffs.

Remember, when he had to bail out the farmers. He had to do relief for small businesses that he screwed over by messing with China because he didn't understand how supply chains work and doesn't understand how tariffs work.

And then he's going to say, I had a great economy, Democrats messed it up. I don't know what happened. I take no responsibility at all.

Biden /Myorkas opened the southern border and let in millions of illegals without our permission. And then gave tax-payers the bill - in the form of massive collective debt.

Dogma and Pony Show said...

Dr. Jill's MAGA-red dress on Election Day removed any doubt about that.

Dogma and Pony Show said...

I strongly disagree. This notion that Biden can pardon Hunter and that's okay or understandable because it's his son is extremely corrupt. Biden may not CARE about the consequences for his party or his own supposedly good name, but it would in fact be rightly looked upon as an extreme abuse of power.

Kakistocracy said...

The art of the deal will be figuring out how to continue to blame Biden as Trump’s policies migrate to his new administration.

Deregulation, increased energy production, and efficiency gains from AI (if those ever come) might offset; but tariffs, near-shoring, and tax cuts with continued high spending are gonna to swamp those offsets. Bond market reactions might be the only way to get enough attention on spending to make the cuts necessary.

Mike (MJB Wolf) said...

Just saw side-by-side photos of him with his smirk and Harris with her concession scowl it struck me. Trump didn't age at all as president, not like they usually do. But Harris's face has aged ten years just running for president.

Or maybe she was just hung over. But she looked awful.
