Now that all the excitement is over, we can get back to normal daily activities.

Today I put up my driveway snow markers while the ground was still soft, in anticipation of the eventual temperature drop. Based on the current forecast, I may be a bit on the early side, but will be in SA for two weeks, and I don't know what the weather will be like when I get back.

But back to politics for a moment...

What are your opinions on who Trump should select for the various cabinet positions?

That's a funny take since the war starts on January 21, 2025. We are not at the END of something. We are at the VERY BEGINNING of it.

10 Reasons You Didn't See This Coming

Konstantin Kisin
Nov 06, 2024

For my British and European friends who are "shocked" and "surprised", here are 10 reasons you didn't see this coming.

1. Americans love their country and want it to be the best in the world. America is a nation of people who conquered a continent. They love strength. They love winning. Any leader who appeals to that has an automatic advantage.

2. Unlike Europeans, Americans have not accepted managed decline. They don't have Net Zero here, they believe in producing their own energy and making it as cheap as possible because they know that their prosperity depends on it.

3. Prices for most basic goods in the US have increased rapidly and are sky high. What the official statistics say about inflation and the reality of people's lives are not the same.

4. Unlike you, Americans do not believe in socialism. They believe in meritocracy. They don't care about the super rich being super rich because they know that they live in a country where being super rich is available to anyone with the talent and drive to make it. They don't resent success, they celebrate it.

5. Americans are the most pro-immigration people in the world. Read that again. Seriously, read it again. Americans love an immigrant success story. They want more talented immigrants to come to America. But they refuse to accept people coming illegally. They believe in having a border.

6. Americans are sensitive about racial issues and their country's imperfect history. They believe that those who are disadvantaged by the circumstances of their birth should be given the opportunity to succeed. What they reject, however, is the idea that in order to address the errors of the past new errors must be made. DEI is racist. They know it and they reject it precisely because they are not racist.

7. Americans are the most philosemitic nation on earth. October 7 and the pro-Hamas left's reaction shocked them to their very core because, among other things, they remember what 9/11 was like and they know jihad when they see it.

8. Americans are extremely practical people. They care about what works, not what sounds good. In Europe, we produce great writers and intellectuals. In America they produce (and attract) great engineers, businessmen and investors. Because of this, they care less about Trump's rhetoric than you do and more about his policies than you do.

9. Americans are deeply optimistic people. They hate negativity. The woke view of American history as a series of evils for which they must eternally apologise is utterly abhorrent to them. They believe in moving forward together, not endlessly obsessing about the past.

10. America is a country whose founding story is one of resistance to government overreach. They loathe unnecessary restrictions, regulations and control. They understand that freedom comes with the price of self-reliance and they pay it gladly.

Pollsters. Didn't they predict the national vote was tied?

Dixcus said...

Ann ... I'm down on one knee.

Will you marry me?

Dixcus said...

J. Ann Selzer, president of Selzer & Co. was hired to produce a late poll by the Des Moines Register in order to fake out Republicans and get them to spend resources in Iowa buying advertising in the Des Moines Register in response to the poll. This is the sort of election shenanigans that scumbags in the media do to rip off money from people.

The poll predicted a Harris victory in Iowa 47-44.

Trump won every county in Iowa except 4 and took the state 56-42.

16 percentage points different than what J. Ann Selzer misled Iowa Democrats would happen.

The Des Moines Register did this to try to make money. They distributed ELECTION DISINFORMATION for PROFIT.

Trump should NATIONALIZE that company and fire every employee.

Anyway, I agree with going back to our normal activities. Hell, maybe they'll quite running political messages during football games and on the field too. Make Athletes Great Again!

Dixcus, you need to get out a bit more. Between Trump, Vance, and Musk; Rogan found time to interview Konstantin Kisin and his pal Francis Foster about the election. I recommend his book, "An Immigrant's Love Letter to the West".

Think about this: Democrats said that Donald Trump was a threat to Democracy, would use the Federal Government to go after his political enemies, would end elections, would literally hunt down Democrats ... and then what happened?

We elected him to do just that.

7. Americans are the most philosemitic nation on earth.

This is actually deeply embedded in our national character going back to the earliest days of our country. People should read George Washington's letter to the "Hebrew Congregation in Newport, Rhode Island". This is not a country that tolerates antisemitism, and should never allow itself become one.

(But I assume that Kisin means "after Israel" we are the most philosemitic nation.)

Big Mike said...

For grins and giggles I tried to watch some of the lefty extremists who are talking heads on TV. And the grin left my face and the giggles stopped. These people actually believe their own bullshit!!! It's nuts. January 6th was not an "armed insurrection." I will always hold it against Trump that he couldn't smell a setup by Nancy Pelosi from the stench she and her minions and Chris Wray left all over it, but you have to have swallowed a lot of BS and asked for seconds to call it an "armed insurrection."

My viewing of Jen Psaki's teary call of Wisconsin, and hence the election, for Trump came via Megyn Kelly's show. And the thought crossed my mind that back in 2016 Megyn Kelly was among the first outright enemies that Donald Trump made following his "blood coming out of her wherever" comment, and now today she's one of his strongest supporters. And I think about the remarks JD Vance made about Trump back in 2016, yet today Vance is one of the most articulate supporters of Trump's policies, not to mention the Vice President-elect.

How does he do that? Amazing. However he does it, it creates hope that maybe we really shall see a lot of this country coming together in the next year. (Though, no, not all of the Democrats, or even most of them, will accept an extended olive branch.)

He does that by not following the "narrative" that most people in public life are following. Donald Trump creates his own narrative every day of his life. Those people are living OTHER PEOPLE'S NARRATIVES ... for many reasons. And some escape having to do that.

Did you ever have a boss who was a compete ahole, but you just had to humor him and present yourself in a certain way to get ahead or get beyond that person? Everybody else has that too.

If you pay me $10 million dollars, I will speak very eloquently about how Donald Trump is the worst human being on the planet. But the moment you STOP PAYING ME to do that, I might speak my own mind.

The people on MSNBC don't believe their own bullshit.

They're just taking the $10 million dollars because that's LIFE-CHANGING-MONEY. That's money you can set up your entire family for several GENERATIONS.

Of course I want that money.

I'm reminded of the Obi Wan Kenobi line, "If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could ever imagine." It's as if he is a first term president with a ton of political capital.
