Why would anyone fight for Mark Robinson? He was already expected to lose.

But that's got to be sad for the people who were hoping to use Mark Robinson's problems against anyone other than Mark Robinson.

I'm reading "Mark Robinson’s porn site scandal greeted with shrugs by some Trump backers/The revelations surrounding the N.C. gubernatorial candidate mark a test of voters’ tolerance for disturbing allegations in the Trump era" (WaPo).

Oh, it's not "tolerance." It's just withholding all support and letting him go.

Here, you can see the history of his polling. He wasn't going to win.

Didn't the Democrats show everyone that what a person does in their personal lives does not matter (i.e. the Bill Clinton Rule)? The left/Democrats/media should not be shocked when we start following their rules.

In an earlier time (JFK) one needed the media's help (wink, wink) to keep personal picadilloes under wraps. Ever since Teddy left that woman to drown and was still able to advanced in Congress the left showed they did not care. Now the right is "evolving" some on these same topics cause "we learned it from you".

As an aside, is any of it even true? The reports say they have traced the moniker to one used by Mark but has anything come out to "prove" it was Mark? Just asking for a friend...

Why do people on team R, with this kind of background, bother to run? Like it won't be found out?
For one thing - the left will lie about you anyway. If the past history true -that makes it worse. So stupid.
Only leftists are allowed scandal and bad past behavior.

Another stellar endorsement by Donald “Ballot Box Poison” Trump.

If not for Trump’s idiotic endorsements the GOP would have had 54 Senate Seats. The “American Recovery Act” a d the “Inflation Reduction Act” would never have seen the light of day.

I hold the Fat Tub of Goo personally responsible for Bideninflation.

Why do Republican voters nominate clowns like this. The one thing you can say for Democrats is that they play to win. Victory is secondary to a good number of Republicans.

Trump wasn't responsible for Martha McSally being appointed to an AZ seat after she lost one senate race. That was Ducey. Trump wasn't responsible for Kelly Loefflers appointment to the senate seat from GA, that was Kemp. Those two cost the GOP the senate, along with the usual fecklessness of state party leadership.

In the case of Robinson, the man had won the lt gov race and was basically the highest ranking republican in the state. He was always a shoe-in for the nomination. The real question is why didn't anyone in the GOP find this out earlier? If Erick Rrickson is to be believed, there were plenty of rumors, and several people knew, but they all kept their mouths shut. That's on them.

Wa St Blogger said...

Just note that if this candidate were a pro-abortion lefty, all these detractors (blog and otherwise)would be singing a different tune. That Robinson got endorsements BEFORE this was revealed is meaningless. Does he still get endorsements after, is the question. Look at Walz. Embraced before his scandalous behavior was revealed, aaaand still endorsed AFTER as well.

Lefties have no morals, Stop pretending that you do. We see right through you.

Kamala Harris has done sex acts on politicians - even married ones. This doesn't seem to be hurting her chances. I mean, when you don't have to actually win any elections, but still get the nomination anyway, that does help.

It doesn't matter regarding Trump. Democrats and NeverTrumpers will not allow him to win even if they have to kill him. Fortunately for him, cover from the leftmediaswine has allowed them to become so shameless that they can cheat him out of a win openly. Corrupt and/or cowardly judges will do nothing. Republicans must win the Senate or we can expect the First and Second Amendments to be neutralized, the SCOTUS to be diluted and the filibuster to be eliminated. This is our last stand for freedom.

When you've gotten to the point of declaring you're a 'Black Nazi' on a porn site, you probably should not consider public office. At least not as a Republican (Democrats can still get away with whatever).

But I think the larger picture is that people are much more disturbed by this- at least the media is- than the idea of our FBI and a letter from dozens of national security experts told us that Hunter's laptop was Russian disinformation even when they knew that was completely untrue. It changed an election. And it put a non-entity in the position as President.

That should be of concern. Mark Robinson will be forgotten by Nov. 6, and never thought of again.

Did he empathize with the site user?

Mr. Wibble - Trump actively suppressed the voting in the GA Senate runoffs in 2020. The shortage in Republican votes came specifically from heavy Trump areas. Jaime - because if Trump had not suppressed the vote in the 2020 Georgia runoffs the Senate would have been 52-48 Republican instead of 50-50 and Biden’s awful legislation would have died before passage.

Then, after you've done that, give us Loeffler's history/background/upbringing (spoiler: nothing to do with Georgia...until she bought the WNBA franchise and hung out in Buckhead) and what impact that had on voter turnout in her election campaign.

Look, I will vote for Trump. But I'm in the Ann Coulter cohort that he screwed up immigration reform and being tough on criminals (there is no non-violent crime, is my view). There are illegals here whom I love and care about. I still want and urge them to go home. They don't pay taxes. None of them. That's utter crap. They all have fake ID. They all steal or buy stolen social security numbers. All of them. They all get paid under the table, or in a Russian doll of subcontracting inside subcontracting, and everyone who is legal sees his or her income stability decline. I have worked in a lot in restaurants (screw Anthony Bourdain, who bragged about mainly hiring illegals) and construction, and also directly with refugees and immigrants, legal and illegal. I've heard the pain of men who have no more construction business to pass down to their children because of competition from illegals.

Ironically, Mr. Trump went to Washington and thought that, if he could handle NYC construction culture, he could handle federal government culture. He lost that bet. He better start earning the vote I'm giving him.

And I was offered a position in his campaign. He better start listening to people like me, or he will lose. Not my vote, but the election.

I live in North Carolina and actually have the legal right to vote for or against Robinson for Governor, or for or against his Democrat opponent Josh Stein. I have no inside (or even outside) information about Robinson's (or Stein's) extracurricular behavior. But I am concerned that an awful lot of commenters here seem to be buying into the Democrats' propaganda without critical analysis.
I know from the political ads on my TV that Robinson admitted months ago -- months ago -- that he and his wife -- the Dems say she wasn't then his wife; I don't know -- had an abortion decades ago. THIS IS NOT NEWS to us in North Carolina. The Stein campaign ran an anti-Robinson ad several months ago in which Robinson was quoted as saying that an abortion wasn't justified just because "you couldn't keep your skirt down". In response to the pro-Stein ad, Robinson and his wife revealed that they had had an abortion; they didn't explain why. Now, for anti-abortion me, that might be a reason not to vote for Robinson if his opponent was sincerely anti-abortion, but if Stein is anti-abortion or has been running anti-abortion ads, my local TV network has not been carrying them.
But what IS clear is that the Democrats had a "case" against Robinson for months or years, most of which they "saved" until it was too late in the campaign for the Republicans to respond effectively.
Personally, I would like the the good people of North Carolina to elect a Black Republican governor. The Democrats' smears of Robinson don't persuade me to abandon that objective.

Aggie said...

I have tried, not very hard, to understand the basis of the smear. It appears that somebody made some posts, using the name 'mark robinson', and use some of the phrases and sentence structures that Mark Robinson has used - and this is the basis of the allegation that it really was Mark Robinson, writing comments on a porn site as 'mark robinson'. In 2009. Have I missed anything important, like Mark Robinson admitting he was that 'mark robinson'?

I'm struggling to see how this has gotten traction when compared to actual, proven things that we've seen this year - so far.

Aggie said...

I mean, let's face it: If you were looking to perform a character assassination on a colleague, or business competitor, or some other grudge target, you would go to a nasty porn site with a sheaf of their emails, and mine them for certain distinctive phrases and favorite words to use, assembling some really disgusting stuff, and signing their name to it. On a porn site. I just don't see how this has gotten traction without any kind of proof positive.
