"Tulsi Gabbard Is on Terror Watchlist?"

Asks Snopes, with "Research In Progress."

Here's what Tulsi said that set off the Snopes investigation: "Kamala says she believes in freedom, but I was put on a secret terror watch list after I publicly criticized her. No one will be safe from political retaliation under a Harris administration. I put my life on the line for this country. Now the government calls me a terror threat."

I believe Tulsi. If Harris wins, more of this.

Giving mentally unstable and useless tools the power to put people on federal lists was never a wise idea. The problem the Democrat Party has is the list now includes more than half of the country, and it's all on behalf of a mentally deficient whore. We've had vicious presidents, and we've had idiot presidents, but Kamala Harris really has to be hoping she loses. The crises will metastasize if she wins.

Information about it came from a TSA whistleblower, and they are sacred for always telling the truth, see Vindman.

Wrong. "I put my life on the line for this country." Which means "I don’t deserve this bs”

I've been following this since Taibbi wrote about it.
This should be a national scandal. A serving officer placed on the Quiet Skies program, with marshalls and dogs and intrusive searches and nothing in the press.
If Harris wins, you should all be very afraid. Supreme Court packing will follow, the censorship of wrongspeak (sorry, moderation of misinformation) won't need attacking the First Amendment, Supreme Court will sort that.

Not just a watchlist, the triple-S code on her airline tickets means secondary searches at every TSA checkpoint, notifying the flight crew of possible disruption and usually an undercover Air Marshal “minder” who keeps tabs on her in flight. What is the cost (besides her freedom) of such a program and who else is the Harris administration subjecting to this?

Power springs from the lips of Tulsi. We’d be well-served by a nation of women just as tough.

Matt Taibbi has been covering this for more than a month:

The absurdity of Snopes investigating. The government will never confirm the harassment, never respond. Snopes gets to write allegedly and accusation and unconfirmed a bunch. Looking into it is just as good as a confirmation.

rehajm said...

Air marshals are easy to spot. Get the passengers to help us all out by saying hello to them on at the gate and on the flight, maybe buying them Cinnabons. Lots of em

I'm sure they're just there to secure the traitor's I mean Tulsi's safety from rabid Democrats.

True, she is better than you.

In your case, probably true.

Does Gabbard have proof or confirmation of any kind that she was placed on the Terrorist Watchlist as a result of criticizing Harris?

Robert Marshall said...

Cook asks: "Does Gabbard have proof or confirmation of any kind that she was placed on the Terrorist Watchlist as a result of criticizing Harris?"

1. Has anyone asserted that she is actually a terrorist? Wouldn't her life story resoundingly belie such an assertion?

2. A. Gabbard criticizes Biden-Harris regime. B. Gabbard almost immediately thereafter placed on terrorist watchlist. C. Merely a coincidence?

3. Part of a pattern of using government to harass your opponents (list too long to repeat here; she mentioned a few similar situations.)

4. Where the government maintains secrecy about things like this (which is natural), "confirmation" is simply not a possibility. One of the costs of secrecy is that people have to draw inferences from the circumstances, such as above. I think that the circumstances described above constitute proof. There's a whole category of legal proof called "circumstantial evidence," and this is a good example.

Is there a meaningful difference between the Quiet Skies program and the Terror Watchlist? It might be helpful if someone knowledgeable explained. Not me, obviously.

From the context, I suspect that 'terror watch list' is being used as a generic description of what appear to be a number of alert lists ranging from No Fly to Quiet Skies to more general heightened screening alerts.

My wife and I had a somewhat amusing incident of heightened screening of her carry-on a few years ago, and noticed afterwards that while I often got upgraded to TSA Pre she never did

MadTownGuy said...

Yes, she does, right here, responding to someone who claimed she had no concrete evidence (even though her boarding pass had the notation indicating that she's on the list).

From the Taibbi article at https://www.racket.news/p/american-stasi-tulsi-gabbard-confirms

"Neither Gabbard nor, apparently, the whistleblowing Marshals know why the former congresswoman would be on a terror watch list."

Original Mike said...

What has happened to Robert? There was a time he would have condemned this.

Original Mike said...

This statement of Gabbard's has been out awhile and I was hoping Althouse would cover it. Simply put, it is appalling. Not just TulsI's own story, but the other incidents of intimidation she mentions. And there are more. A powerful reason for voting for against Harris this election is that our government has turned into a police state.

Exactly!

It's messages like this, BTW, that they're trying to stop when they attack Musk and Twitter/X. That citizens can speak out, directly to other citizens and against the wishes of the government*, is something they are working to quash.

"They are directly speaking to millions and millions of people without oversight or regulation. And that has to stop." - Kamala Harris

*(I originally typed "our government". What a quaint concept.)

Jupiter said...

No, it means she is better than the scum who question her patriotism. Which strikes me as highly likely.

Jupiter said...

It's worse than that. The allegations have been confirmed, by Tulsi Gabbard. No one has denied them. Snopes is simply refusing to believe that the Biden-Harris regime would do such a thing, unless and until they admit it. But of course they would. They did.

There also was a huge difference in the number of people who served in the military in WWII vs today.

More than 10% of the total population served in the military in WWII, which would have been a huge percentage of military-aged men. When I was a kid, just about every man I knew who was my father's age served in WWII and/or Korea. Today's US military is a little more than 0.5% of the total population.

Also, according to the VA, most living veterans today are over 75 years old.

Not to be overlooked is the FBI and Weissman "investigating" Trump for years for Russian collusion when they knew from the outset that it was all BS. All simply to tie his hands from governing. How is that not a "coup"?

The percentage of military-aged men (MAM) who served in WWII is hard to pin down, given that males both over-[1] and under-[2] stated their ages to join. But approximately 50-55% percent of MAMs served.

My mom was one of 9 children. Having the future spouses stand in for the girls, that gives us 9 MAMs for WWII. 6 served. Of the other three, one was in the seminary. One was 4F[3]. One was studying to be a doctor[4]; he later served in an evac hospital in the Korean War.

[1] - I heard the story of one guy who lied, forged his mother's signature and joined the Navy at 14.He got several commendations, including a Navy Cross. When it was discovered he was still only 16, he was dishonorably discharged and stripped of his medals. When he came of age, he was drafted but could not convince the Board that he was already a Navy vet.

[2] - My wife's aunt married a guy who was a WWI vet who said he was 6 years younger than he really was to get into WWII.

[3] - Given the malnutrition of the Great Depression, a surprisingly large number of draftees were rejected.

[4] - Given the anticipated need for doctors, qualified pre-med students were permitted to advance to med school after just 3 years.

My wife and I had a somewhat amusing incident of heightened screening of her carry-on a few years ago, and noticed afterwards that while I often got upgraded to TSA Pre she never did

My wife applied for a Global Entry card and was told she didn't qualify because she had pled guilty to "aggressive driving" some years prior, not realizing at the time that it was an actual misdemeanor conviction and not a civil traffic violation. For the next six or seven years, until the disqualification period ended, she was nearly always selected for extra screening at airport security. Sometimes it was more intrusive than I have ever seen before, both here and abroad. We were once detained at the Paris airport for two hours while the gendarmes took every single item out of her suitcases for individual inspection. Then it happened again in New York a couple of years later. Notably, none of this ever happened between her conviction and the time she applied for the Global Entry program.

The TSA is a joke. Performative security theater, like so much else our government does to convince us that they deserve their phony-baloney jobs and gold plated pensions.
