I'm not seeing that kind of color 225 miles north in Vilas County. I wonder if it's because we've received a lot more rain recently than has Madison?

I had a couple of milkweed volunteer in my flower garden by the house and then a couple goldenrod came up next to them. I decided to have a little weed pocket there. The goldenrod are now 6 feet but haven't bloomed yet and we are a couple hundred miles south. They aren't blooming in the pastures either (haven't mowed yet).

Still hot and soupy. The hummingbirds are still topping off the tanks. Last year they were gone by Labor Day…

She could do worse, and if elected certainly will.

Feels like Fall today. In the sun: Warm. In the shade, with a breeze: Cool.

Labor Day. The ferns die back, the humidity goes away, the colors begin to change.

It's a beautiful day here, I let a small bunch of goldenrod grow in my perennial garden. Some years I let milkweed grow in there, there is generally no shortage of volunteers, and I kind of like it. There has been a bald eagle operating out of the cottonwood tree now for about a week, I know people say that the call of the bald eagle is kind of disappointing, but live and up close, it's impressive enough. As for migratory birds, well, there have been a couple flocks of mergansers, I haven't seen a goldfinch in a while, and the robins seem to be gone, as one drives around, the wild rice flats are full of red-winged blackbirds again, like every year at this time. To me that's the starter's gun for fall.

For those of you who like Penzey's Spices, these snippets are from their Facebook page (plus showed up as an ad):
He committed treason. Republican voters don’t care.
It’s too-too much. 22% Off Everything but Saffron/Vanilla.
This moment is enormous. Rise up to it. Everyone already knows what Jack Smith will ultimately prove. We all saw it while it was happening. Donald Trump conspired to overthrow our election and end our democracy. We all know what he will do if he gets back in office.
Don’t kid yourself. Those still voting for Republicans aren’t voting for him in spite of January 6, they are voting for him because of January 6.
Because Republican voters are voting to end America, it’s time for business as usual to be on hold until the 11.5.24 election. Now until then it’s time for all of us to come to the defense of America.
That Republicans are planning to vote for the man who is literally the greatest threat America has ever known is too-too much...
There is right and there is wrong and voting for today’s Republicans is simply wrong...
And this week Donald Trump was once again indicted for his coup to overthrow the election and end our democracy. Please let everyone you know who is planning to vote for him that if they do so they are no longer Americans and should be ashamed of themselves.

Why would I buy spices from someone who hates me? (He claims he doesn't, but I wasn't born yesterday.) He even has a tab on his web page labeled, "About Republicans."

I love Penzy’s spices, a couple times a year I go to the Penzy store and stock up. They’re in a conservative area and still do a brisk business.

OMG, Cuban actually exposes leftist casting multiple votes for Harris, who still gets slaughtered.

With several different polls coming out showing a close race between the two nominees, Cuban, a frequent critic of Trump, took to X, formerly Twitter, on Friday to conduct his own poll on Trump and Harris.

"Who's persona and character would you like to see young children grow up to have?" Cuban wrote on X.

According to the poll, Trump won with 68.9 percent to just 31.1 percent for Harris, with a total of 804,173 votes cast.

Penzey has told Trump supporters NOT to buy his spices, so I buy from the much better Spice House. Why support a hater of Americans??? Let him sell to his Hamas supporting comrades.

My lilacs have lost almost all of their leaves. Been a pretty good weather year with plenty of rain. They usually hang around til first frost. Looked it up...a fungus is killing off stems and turning leave brown.
