I'm pleased to see that the City of Madison has provided a possible solution to Professor Althouse's civic responsibility/cruel neutrality conundrum. And as a plus they provided a tenth option for the poll*.

Now she can simply turn in one ballot voted Trump and her second ballot voted Harris. Problem solved.

If she wasn't on the two ballot list, well, maybe they've heard about Meade.

Also, "human error" my ass. Someone in the clerks office saw an opportunity and took advantage.

*"would vote for Trump, would vote for Harris."

Wayback Machine integrated into Google search

"The internet is, by its very nature, ephemeral. Sites shut down, and it's as if they never existed. The Internet Archive began backing up the web in 1996 as part of its mission to provide "Universal Access to All Knowledge." Since then, it has saved 916 billion web pages. In 2001, the archive was made accessible and searchable to the general public via the Wayback Machine.

You can find saved versions of web pages by searching web.archive.org or clicking on a Wayback Machine extension in your browser. Now, Wayback Machine links are being added to Google search results.

To access this new feature, conduct a search on Google as usual. Next to each search result, you'll find three dots—clicking on these will bring up the "About this Result" panel. Within this panel, select "More About This Page" to reveal a link to the Wayback Machine page for that website.

Through this direct link, you'll be able to view previous versions of a webpage via the Wayback Machine, offering a snapshot of how it appeared at different points in time.

Google phased out its cached links in search earlier this year. The Wayback Machine has always been better at this than Google, so this is a welcome addition. However, it's unfortunate that the Wayback Machine links are buried under so many layers and not in a more prominent position. You are not likely to find them unless you are actively looking for them.
"

I'm not sure this is a good thing or a bad thing. If Google takes control of the search results, or distorts them with AI, not so good. If Google is providing convenient access and nothing more, well, good.

Rabel,

The question is how many US precincts, including those in the Madison area, will turn out 110% of the vote?

That happened during the Obama election, but it was racist to point it out.

Glenn Greenwald

One of the most darkly hilarious things I've seen in politics is how Democrats and media liberals constantly run around warning that if Trump wins, he'll weaponize the justice system by prosecuting his political enemies, and they do it with zero sense of irony or self-awareness:
Glenn Greenwald

@ggreenwald
The NY appellate court was very skeptical yesterday of the criminal case brought against the Trump Org by NY AG Letitia James: both in terms of its being a crime at all plus the absurdly high fine.

Yet another case of a liberal prosecutor weaponizing the law. And look at this:

Those are the convictions but also among them are 222,141 migrants with pending criminal charges including 1,845 for homicide and 4,250 for s*xual assault."

Saw several threads on threadreaderapp today blaming the Israelis for the explosions that leveled areas of Beirut and could be head miles away.

No mention that the biggest explosions and forces that knocked down buildings were secondary explosions from the bombs and missiles that the Israeli bombs hit... Bombs and missiles that were stored, in violation of the generally accepted rules of law, in civilian areas and apartments.

If you don't follow the generally accepted rules of war, it's totally fair for the other side to say "F--- it, neither are we."

Actually, western nations (Christian based European nations) developed the concept of Rules of War. Because at the time they developed them, all of European royalty was related to each other one way or another, and all the minor nobility and peasants would end up loyal to whoever won, as long as they had some legitimate claim to the rule. So being unnecessarily cruel would create enemies among people who otherwise would have shrugged and went, "Oh, well, another day, another King (or baron or duke or whatever)." And a lot of excess killing would leave the victor without a work force. The rest of the world never developed that. Ask the Chinese in Nanking or the Hutsis and Tutsis what they think about it. During WWII the Luftwaffe treated Brits and Americans IAW the Geneva Convention. Not the Russians, who reciprocated.

"But wait, hasn’t the agency been telling the American people it “lacks the resources” to properly protect President Trump, which is why he’s been deciseconds and minutes from death on at least two known occasions (respectively) in the last several months? So the Secret Service ostensibly doesn’t have the funding to protect President Trump, but it does have the money to send its staff to an LGBTQ-people-in-the-workplace conference at an notoriously expensive amusement park—okay."

There are smart people in the Democrat Party. She's just not one of them. They weren't allowed to run either when he was seeking to be renominated or once he got couped right out of office. Did you see the video of Israel bombing a house? After the initial explosion, a rocket flies out of the house and blows up a neighboring house. In other words, Hezbollah was storing munitions in a neighborhood home, but Israel wasn't supposed to hit a home despite it being a weapons depot for missiles that normally were fired at Israel. People want to talk about rules, lets start with whatever one side militarizes is fair game. If you want it off limits, don't militarize it.

When Gutfield starts talking about possible error in the numbers as an argument, I thought he was wrong about 50%. I noticed as he tried to describe what that would be like, he started putting out 10% of the numbers. I think even 5% should be a huge problem. That's still over a thousand murderers and rapists let in. We know, because we had them, identified them, and then instead of saying no entry, we gave them refugee status until a US court could decide to send them home, then they were released into the US and trusted to appear when the court beckons them.
We heard more about one woman making bad decisions in Georgia that were mostly her own responsibility. Another woman in Georgia was raped and murdered while simply jogging along. A 12-yr old girl was raped and murdered by two men in Houston earlier this year. There are many more stories from this year alone, and they can be tied back to those let in, known to be criminals, yet released per Biden's 2017 Executive Order.

More lawfare and politicizing the DOJ, just like the Democrats do. I don't think this is the way to go:

"Former President Donald Trump said if he wins he plans to ask the Justice Department to prosecute Google for what he claimed is an illegal system to only reveal bad stories about him and good stories about Vice President Kamala Harris, his rival in the 2024 presidential election.

"This is an ILLEGAL ACTIVITY, and hopefully the Justice Department will criminally prosecute them for this blatant Interference of Elections," Trump added, without specifying which criminal statute he was referring to. "If not, and subject to the Laws of our Country, I will request their prosecution, at the maximum levels, when I win the Election, and become President of the United States!"
