The Secret Service hasn't announced all the other places they can't keep Trump safe which would include any rallies or speeches.

Can somebody refresh my memory on why we fund this?

Because of my life situation, I only log on to this blog about once a day, so I am seldom up to date on the comments, which sometimes I go days without reading, although I always read Althouse's posts, even when I don't read the comments. But I noticed that Quaestor, one of the few commentators here whose posts I regularly read, questioned my post yesterday (or the day before, I can't tell anymore) about the utility and importance or political assassins. My response is that the Mossad or Israel are the best example of how to discreetly deploy assassins. I think Mossad was responsible for the pagers that detonated today and took out a number of Hezbollah terrorists. And they have selectively killed numerous Hamas and Iranian terrorists. Good for them. I wish we were as good as Mossad. I think I mentioned this in a previous post, but my favorite T-shirt that I wear in Iowa City, Iowa, home of the University of Iowa (the equivalent of Madison, WI), is "Mossad: It's never an accident."

Remember when Kamala Harris had to choose someone to be her first interview after the coup to topple Joe Biden. Guess who she chose?

Jeremy Bash was one of the 51 signers of the infamous Deep State letter claiming Hunter Biden's laptop was "Russia disinformation" in order to alter the outcome of the 2020 election. His wife is Dana Bash.

Of CNN.

She got picked as Kamala's first interview.

What a perfect evening. A full moon risen over the mountains, and now reflected in the flat calm lake; a perfect 72 degrees, maybe 70; fall ripe acorns dropping from time to time from the oak tree next to the screen porch, hitting leaves and branches as they fall, one just it the barbecue with a ping; two great horned owls calling to each other in the trees in the back yard —at least that's what Merlin says that they are.

I would tell you about the loons about an hour ago, but that would be too much, so I won't.

Small Pennsylvania town up in arms over plan to house hundreds of migrants in abandoned school

"A small Pennsylvania town is up in arms over a proposal to turn an abandoned Civil War-era school into a shelter for hundreds of migrant families — with residents and lawmakers vowing to put a stop to the “foreign invasion.”

News of the plan to turn the former Scotland School for Veterans Children building in Franklin County into a migrant shelter surfaced publicly this week after the owners of the sprawling property recently started making inquiries about its potential usage, local officials said.

The Greene Township Board of Supervisors said a representative from USA Up Star, an Indiana-based disaster response company that currently owns the 185-acre property, had reached out to them last month to ask if local zoning laws allowed for the campus to be converted into a shelter.

The company said the location, which was most recently a summer camp, would be used as a “shelter for families seeking refuge” in the US and that they’d be “working closely” with the federal government on the potential project.

The board quickly denied the request, saying current zoning requirements and land use regulations prohibited such a use for the campus.

USA Up Star, however, can still lodge an appeal on the board’s decision, according to local officials.

It wasn’t immediately clear, though, if the company intends to fight the ruling.

America is changing fast including in a demographic sense. We have few years left of a white majority. The Trump/ Vance ticket is a defensive one (whereas blood & soil is typically offensive) speaking to what is already a minority. Not accepting the reality of the US being a country of immigrants with increasingly Hispanic and Asian roots only works if you are in a majority.

Trump's big mistake was to double down on MAGA and chose Vance who is a bit too flexible but always in an extreme direction that mixes ethno-nationalism with Christian fundamentalism. As a team they speak to an even narrower audience than Trump would by himself.

As time goes by the GOP is ill served by having this crowd dominating the party. It's a strategy that leads to many years out of Capitol Hill even if they win one more term at the WH.

Another linkless comment from 'tim in vermont'. Is he ashamed to admit where he read this claim? If we knew, would we disbelieve the claim?

I've been following the war in Ukraine quite closely, and everything I've read says that (a) the former 10:1 Russian advantage in artillery has been reduced to 2:1, and (b) artillery is not in fact causing the most casualties in this war this year, drones are, and Ukraine has a huge advantage in drones. Also, just last night Ukraine blew up a huge Russian ammunition dump in Toropets (east of Latvia). The secondary explosions measured 2.8 on the Richter scale on the earthquake measurement sites, and the smoke plume is visible from space. Total ammunition destroyed is said to be 19,000 tons - not pounds, tons - and people are still arguing whether that's more or less than Russia's entire yearly production. There are numerous other clues that Russia is in fact losing, though still doing immense damage to Ukraine. Here's a convenient list from just the last 24 hours: link.

Projection as confession..day ending in Y

"Speaking on MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show this week, Clinton was asked about continued allegations of Russian efforts to disseminate Russian propaganda in the United States. Clinton responded:

“I think it’s important to indict the Russians, just as Muller indicted a lot of Russians who were engaged in direct election interference and boosting Trump back in 2016. But I also think there are Americans who are engaged in this kind of propaganda. And whether they should be civilly or even in some cases criminally charged is something that would be a better deterrence, because the Russians are unlikely, except in a very few cases, to ever stand trial in the United States.”

The interview was chillingly consistent with Clinton long antagonism toward free speech.

Clinton, of course, was not challenged by Maddow on the fact that her campaign was the conduit for disinformation linked to Russian intelligence services.

Not only did U.S. intelligence believe that the Clinton campaign was used to make the debunked claims, but it was clearly done for purely political purposes.

Clinton efforts were so obvious by July 2016 that former CIA Director John Brennan briefed former President Obama on Hillary Clinton’s alleged “plan” to tie then-candidate Donald Trump to Russia as “a means of distracting the public from her use of a private email server.” The Russian investigation was launched days after this briefing.
