Gee whiz. It appears that making a profit is way more important that "women's health". Who could have guessed? Can't afford abortion? Tough titty.

A couple weeks ago there was some surprising news out of New York. Planned Parenthood announced it would stop doing late-term abortions (those after 20 weeks) and also planned to close four clinics in the state. The problem in New York wasn't the legality of their business, it was the profitability. PP's president wrote in an opinion piece that because of inflation they were in trouble unless the state started directing more public money their way.

Excerpt from Mark Steyn column quoting Conrad Black regarding federal charges: “Those who do exercise their constitutional right to a defense receive three times as severe a sentence as those who plead guilty; 95 percent of cases are won by prosecutors, 90 percent of those without trial.”

It is a great column regarding the sinking of the Bayesian.

For all the TRUMP WON conspiracists up in here Former President Donald Trump's team admitted that he lost two key battleground states in a new memo.
In a new confidential memo, Trump pollster Tony Fabrizio informed the Trump campaign Friday that independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s decision to drop out of the race and endorse Trump is "good news" for Republicans.
But there was one line of that caught the attention of political observers. After calculating how Kennedy's vote will break for Trump, Fabrizio—a veteran GOP pollster and longtime Trump ally—acknowledged that Trump lost Arizona and Georgia to President Joe Biden four years ago. Trump has still not conceded the 2020 election.
"To put these numbers into perspective, the net vote gained in a states like Arizona based on just a 2020 turnout model would be over 41,000 votes nearly 4 times Biden's winning margin or in Georgia the net gain. would be over 19,000 votes nearly twice Biden's margin," the memo reads.
Biden flipped both Arizona and Georgia blue in the last presidential election. In the past 72 years, only two Democratic presidential nominees—Bill Clinton and Harry Truman—have won Arizona in the general election. Biden's win in Georgia was another major victory for the Democratic Party, who had not won the Southern state in nearly 30 years.
But we know facts aren't used much up in here, mostly alternative musings with no proof like TRUMP WON.. It will all come out in the wash eventually

I get it. It’s extremely difficult to come to the conclusion that the Party and the people you have supported your whole life - that maybe you were wrong to do that. It’s a little bit easier for Republicans because we’ve been criticized our whole life so we are more used to questioning our side. But being a Democrat means that your ideas and beliefs have constantly been reinforced by the media and by the popular culture. You’re one of the Cool Kids if you’re a Democrat and it’s awfully hard to give that up. That’s not only true for Inga but for all the other Democrats as well.

Harris will deliver guvmint financing

Eva Marie said...

Let me just add - no matter where you are on the political spectrum , our motto should be: trust but verify.
1. I was a little taken aback when RFK said he was going to endorse Trump but he was going to criticize him if Trump didn’t follow through. My first impulse was - hey you’re joining Trump’s team, be a team player.
2. In the interview with Weinstein, PBD praised Chris Cuomo for pointing out all the big donors who had paid thousands for their boxes in the DNC arena all the while Kamala Harris was criticizing big money interests. But Weinstein said that Cuomo needed to explain why he was only now criticizing the system he had supported for his whole career.
In other words - we need to approach everyone we support with scepticism. You support Kamala - hold her feet to the fire. Make her explain why she went along with policies she now disagrees with. You support Trump - keep him honest when you think he’s getting off track.
There’s stupid criticism (this or that person is Hitler) but there’s smart criticism that can force our politicians and government officials to stay on track.

From the boys over at Powerline:

"That, really, is Harris’s campaign: she is the not-Donald-Trump. Complaints that her current persona is inauthentic, and she has no platform, miss the point. She is perfectly authentic as not-Donald-Trump, and that negation is her platform. Anything beyond that is window dressing.

This approach wouldn’t normally work, of course. If the Republicans had nominated anyone except Trump, Harris’s record, her political views and her platform would be front and center. Against anyone but Trump Harris would be a pitifully weak candidate. She couldn’t run as not-Nikki-Haley, not-Ron-DeSantis, or whoever. It is only the Republicans’ nomination of Donald Trump that makes the Democrats’ strategy possible.

The Democrats couldn’t win if they had to run on the Biden/Harris record, and they know it. By rights, 2024 should be an easy Republican win. The Biden record is far worse than the Jimmy Carter record of 1980. So Democrats have seized on the lifeline the Republicans gave them: they are turning the election into a referendum on Donald Trump.

As such, it is a tossup. Around half the country hates Trump. They don’t care who Harris is, what her views are, or what she would do as president. She is not-Donald-Trump, and that is enough. The Democrats were smart enough to realize they needed a new candidate. The Republicans were not. The future of the republic may turn on that difference."
