The ultra-right NY Post tells us that no one knows what migrant felony crime rates are. But Pew Research has the facts:

Using the FBI data, the violent crime rate fell 49% between 1993 and 2022, with large decreases in the rates of robbery (-74%), aggravated assault (-39%), and murder/nonnegligent manslaughter (-34%).

So migrants are not pushing crime rates up.

Mike of Snoqualmie said...

Illegal alien crime rate would be zero if all the illegal aliens were deported. Any crime committed by an illegal alien is one crime too many. We have enough home grown scum. We have barbarian prosecutors and judges who believe locking up our home grown scum is too hard on the home grown scum. The gun control groups go on and on about how bad guns are but won't support prosecuting the use of guns in a crime.

The New York Post has apparently been denounced as "ultra-right" in gadfly's talking points. This is probably because they do things like publish pictures of Hunter and his client who stole hundreds of millions from Kazakstan with Joe Biden, who lied that such meetings never took place.

"So migrants are not pushing crime rates up."

Yes, there is less crime, because the numbers the FBI publishes say so, even though the evidence of my eyes says that stores that used to be operated pretty much on the honor system are now locked down, gangs are brazenly hitting shelves of places like Home Depot like locusts and walking out the front door, and police do nothing, and if the police do anything, the judges throw out the charges, and this is in a semi rural area where you never even used to worry about locking your car.

The FBI crime statistics are just as reliable as Job statistics and inflation statistics, they are all made up now, just like in 1984.

Eva Marie said...

There’s this new trend in the media/Democratic party to portray Trump as a coward. Drudge today: Rattled Trump demands safe debate. The Atlantic: Trump is suddenly running scared. Newsweek: Former RNC Chair Says Donald Trump 'Afraid' of Kamala Harris.
They think we’ll forget.

imTay said...

"Seven EU countries call on Venezuela to publish electoral rolls quickly" - Reuters.

Wait, what? Does this mean that you think that dragging the process out over weeks allows too much time to cheat?

This is another good one from Reuters

"Israeli strikes hit Gaza schools, hospital compound after talks fail"

You mean after Israel killed the lead negotiator on the other side? Isn't that how the talks "failed"?

Reading the newspapers becomes fun once you understand that it's all lies and manipulation.

One other issue with migrants, BTW, and it's economic, which understandably gadfly wants to avoid:

The influx of migrants has contributed to a rebound in the foreign-born population, helping to replenish the American labor force and ease concerns about a persistent shortage of workers, which could have driven wage inflation (The New York Times, February 06, 2023).

You know what another term for "wage inflation" is? Higher wages for working class voters, that is the voters that the Democrats have abandoned. God forbid that affluent Democrats should have to overpay their nannies or landscapers! Or even worse, the workers at their businesses!

The most important rule of the talking point producers is to distract the public consciousness from the real issues of economic harm caused by unfettered immigration, a.k.a "replenishing the foreign born population," which inevitably depresses the wages of the "deplorables," and to transform those undeniably legitimate gripes, in the public consciousness, to tropes about horrid racist beliefs.

The Democrats have positioned themselves as the tamers of the "frightening" working class, keeping workers wage demands "under control" and protecting from their supposed violent tendencies. In other words, they are the party of pearl clutchers, all of the while doing the dirty work of economic repression of workers under cover of "anti-racism" and "protecting democracy" Those benefiting, like Rich, Robert Cook, and gadfly, are either complicit in this strategy, or happily look the other way, to reap the economic benefits. After all, it won't be their kids sent off to war, or condemned by economic despair to a wastrel's short life of fentanyl abuse.

I am with you.
Our Best Dog Ever, Maddy, was put to sleep two weeks ago. My heart and house are so empty. She was my best friend, my companion for almost 15 years. I see her everywhere I look around our house, in our yard, in the neighbors yard, in my car. (our neighbors have bemoaned how they miss her running over daily for her 4pm treat).

I understand that time heals things a bit. But this is a hole that doesn't get patched.

Interesting times…. Will the media insist on hearing from Harris directly regarding the economic downturn/ meltdown, some calling recession, and the events in the UK where working class Brits are railing against unlimited immigration, finally, after the slaughter of young girls at a Swift event? If she wants the job, we must hear from her.

Breezy said...

It’s not even close. If we want things to be relatively boring, we need Trump to win.

With apologies to Loudin Wainright who said this about his famous song:

"Well, OK. But for me, it was just about a dead skunk lying there on the highway."A skunk," he told foreign audiences, "is an animal that emits a terrible odor when struck by an automobile or attacked by a dog."

In this case, we have Bobby Kennedy Jr stealing a dead bear cub struck by a vehicle on a rural NY highway and carting it off to New York City to skin and eat. But he got delayed and the dead animal turned rank, so he illegally dumped it in Central Park. So now we know about another presidential candidate who thumbs his nose at the rule of law.

"Dead Bearcub"

Crossing the highway late last night
He shoulda looked left and he shoulda looked right
He didn't see the station wagon car
The bearcub got squashed and there you are

You got your dead bearcub in the middle of the road
Dead bearcub in the middle of the road
Dead bearcub in the middle of the road
Stinking to high heaven

Take a whiff on me, that ain't no rose
Roll up your window and hold your nose
You don't have to look and you don't have to see
'Cause you can feel it in your olfactory

You got your dead bearcub in the middle of the road
Dead bearcub in the middle of the road
Dead bearcub in the middle of the road
And it's stinking to high heaven

Yeah, you got your dead cat and you got your dead dog
On a moonlight night, you got your dead toad frog
Got your dead rabbit and your dead raccoon
The blood and the guts, they're gonna make you swoon

You got your dead bearcub in Central Park
Dead bearcub on a Central Park path
Dead bearcub in the middle of the path
Stinking to high heaven
C'mon, stink

You got it, it's dead, it's in the middle
Dead bearcub in the middle of the park
Dead bearcub in the middle of the park
Stinking to high heaven
All over the place
Technicolor

Oh, you got pollution
It's dead, it's in the middle
And it's stinking to high, high heaven

Speaking of violent crimes and the Harris Administration:

The Secret Service had no radio communications not only with the local police but also with the snipers
Most of the vital communications were made using texts over an overloaded cell phone network
There are no recordings of the Secret Service communications, although there are of the locals
Rowe's assertions about the responsibilities of the local snipers didn't actually come from the local snipers--it was just made up by the Secret Service (we would know much less were it not for the locals)
The Secret Service command center was not co-located with the local police
The investigators have YET to talk to the local police who were assisting the SS, including the snipers

If the political parties of the nominees were reversed, this would be the only discussion in the news because of the gross negligence and the implications of it.
