Donald Trump, the fiction writer.

"What are the chances that Crooked Joe Biden, the WORST President in the history of the U.S., whose Presidency was Unconstitutionally STOLEN from him by Kamabla, Barrack HUSSEIN Obama, Crazy Nancy Pelosi, Shifty Adam Schiff, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, and others on the Lunatic Left, CRASHES the Democrat National Convention and tries to take back the Nomination, beginning with challenging me to another DEBATE. He feels that he made a historically tragic mistake by handing over the U.S. Presidency, a COUP, to the people in the World he most hates, and he wants it back, NOW!!!"

Written by Donald Trump, at Truth Social.

He's pretty creative.

I like the locution "What are the chances." Start like that, and you can say anything. And it's good — not because the chances are zero — because it's got an element of truth in that guess about Biden's feelings. I would have thought no one cares anymore about Joe Biden's feelings. But Trump took the time to think about Biden's feelings and to spin out a story where the man who got knocked so far down, got back up:

At least it's less predictable than Aaron Sorkin. Actually, as a way to encourage Biden to make a disastrous mistake, it's pretty good. Add in the fact even liberals think Kamala is a terrible speaker means Biden just might take this path.

A good tactic is one you (or your people) enjoy. Trump is right. Democrats have executed a coup against a sitting President of the United States, who rightfully won the Democrat nomination by participating in primary elections against named opponents. Yet somehow, a person who has never won a single primary ever in her life is being handed the nomination by unknown persons. How is it that Kamala Harris gathered "votes" in a party election that is notable because she was the only candidate on the ballot?

Joe Biden used to be a fighter. I guess he's not one any more.

Are there any neurologists or gerontologists in the house? Does a man as far gone as Biden still have feelings? Or are feelings (like rage and anger) the ONLY things he has left? When we've seen Joe do his creepy whisper voice, one is left with the idea that the fool still has an ego, so it could be plausible.

Zero that Biden will do it, but what are the chances all those people listed are on the same page? Of the potential running mates bandied about for Harris, Walz was probably the best choice for Trump. I can’t imagine that stands.

This coup line of attack is silly. No one used illegal means to get Biden to withdraw from the campaign. Nothing wrong with the Dems to pressure Biden in public and behind the scenes to get him to face up to the obvious fact that he was not a viable candidate and would lose by a wide margin to Trump.

If there is a scandal, it's that it took so long for the Dems to react and those around Biden deceived the public about his condition. That's a line of attack that makes more sense.

You would certainly think so, but President Trump just illustrated a pitfall of inviting him. NOT having Biden would also be strange, but at least it would be controllable.

The primaries were so unfairly weighted in Biden's favor that rightful has no rightful place in the recent history of the Democratic Party, not since the departure of men like Henry Jackson and Daniel Moynihan. Clinton and his beastly wife knocked out the props, and Obama burned to ashes what remained. The Potemkin primary season and the sudden onset of Kamala are merely the final humiliation of the Yellow Dogs, to rub their noses in it.

In a free-for-all debate between Kamala and Brandon, who would win? Who cares? It would be the most post-modern performance piece ever. Samuel Beckett would be turning green with envy. Poetry slams would be cancelled, seen as pathetically normie by comparison.

Looking at the video clip, I am struck by all those people cheering wildly for Dementia Joe, just days after he so publicly and embarrasingly exposed his condition. So cringey. And I am confident that they are now wildly cheering for Kamala "Word Salad" Harris, who refuses to hold a "big girl" press conference and has no policy positions on her website. And they will no doubt mindlessly cheer for Tim "Run Away" Walz, who abandoned his unit soon after learning it would be deployed to Iraq, who drove 96 in a 55 mph zone while drunk, and who let Minneapolis burn to show support for those protesting alleged police brutality. I get the feeling that some people are zombies and the zombie apocalypse is already happening.

To expand on MartyH responding the AmExPat; it isn't simply the suggestion of invoking the 25th Amendment that makes it a coup. The 25th Amendment is a solution to a problem without having a coup. However, it is intended to be used to dispose a President no longer capable of running the country and should be invoked for that reason. Here, it was invoked apparently not because Biden is no longer capable of running the country, because they left him in place. That means the invocation of the 25th Amendment was fraudulent and blackmail.
If Trump did this, a New York jury would have found him guilty of felony fraud, but it was done by Democrats, so it seems all good. Just like it is all good when Jamie Raskin wants to use the certification of the electoral college to determine the eligibility of a candidate to run (an issue already adjudicated) rather than whether the states properly ran their part of the federal election.

That's a rumor. Any solid basis to that rumor? Both sides spread rumors when it suits there needs - facts be damned. Harris would have needed half the cabinet to do invoke the the 25th. Is there any evidence that she had all her ducks lined up before approaching Biden?

Invoking the 25th Amendment is not a coup in any sense of the word. It's a legal and sensible action to remove a president who is not able to carry out his duties. The fact that 50% of his appointed cabinet members are needed to do this safequards from unreasonable partisan action. And the fact that all those cabinet memebers can be terminated at any time by the president means that discussions of invoking the 25th would have to be done behind the president's back in order to stop him from firing those who are against him.

I understand that directly threatening to invoke the 25th to get the president to withdraw is illegal. But IF there were this sort of pressure I'm sure it was exerted in a such a subtile and indirect way as to avoid criminal liability.

My point is that I don't think it's politically smart for Trump to push this point. There was widespread agreement on both sides that Biden was not be up to serving four more years. The Dems got him to do something that most Americans agree with. Those that get riled up about a speculative improper action here are already voting for Trump. He's not getting any new voters pushing this. I think pushing a cover up about Biden's mental state is a better line of attack.

Claiming it was a coup might be an accurate but it makes a fantastic story. A good story will always Trump the truth the facts etc. it might be preaching to the choir however the choir hasn't actually gone to the polls yet. My guesstimation is that one of the major strategies of the Trump campaign is to keep the base at a fever pitch in order to get the required turnout. You can see that this is very likely a useful strategy given the lock step support and they twisted logic people use to defend the ridiculous story.

hombre said...

This is a great fantasy and Biden could finally perform a great service to the nation. A better bet is that the cabal met the price of his handlers, Jill and Hunter, to keep it from happening. Hunter's price, a full pardon for all the grifting.

Leland said...

AmExPat, I would nominally agree with you and more to that point, I don’t think anyone will prosecuted for the suggested abuse. However, in Trump’s unique case; he is claiming what happened is a coup, because they did the same to him and have prosecuted him and others. Using the certification of the electoral college vote to question how the election was conducted is reasonable, not a coup. Giving a speech suggesting a peaceful march is not an incitement. That some were incited does not make the speech a coup. Yet those claims were made.

Biden has been removed from power without proper authority. Dropping out of the race is one thing, but who is running the country now? Why aren’t we hearing from Biden? If so many recognize he’s unfit to run, why aren’t they invoking the 25th amendment and more to that, why isn’t anyone taking questions from the press?

Michael K said...

I don't think it's the base that requires "fever pitch". The base has been there for years. The coup story is plausible. Kamala is doing the rest. The debate is the real test. Trump to get on a stage with her, even on her terms. Of course they will feed her the questions. Then we'll see if she can handle that.

The choice seems to have come as a surprise. The vitriol I’ve seen from the other side suggests they are a little rattled. It is certainly now quite a contrast between Trump/Vance and Harris/Walz. Despondency and retribution set against a more optimistic view of the future. Looks like the democrats are running on a platform of “Vote for us — we are normal, decent people”. It might just work.

I agree that a lot of the lawsuits against Trump were speculative overreach and I can understand his desire to pay back in kind. But is he doing this because it's a good campaign strategy or to air a personal grievance? One of Trump's strengths is that he throws his opponents off balance by pushing buttons and boundaries. Many political mistakes have been made by Dems under the influence of TDS. Trump's biggest weakness is his lapses of political disipline. His supporters may find that refreshing but he loses swing voters.

If Kamala threatened to invoke the 25th Amendment----which she clearly has the Constitutional power to do---it cannot be a crime for her to do so. That power is one of (few) core functions of her office

Dixcus keeps yammering on about this "crime", but he cites absolutely NO authority for his position, while I am pointing to the language of the 25th itself.

Essentially his position would mean that Congress couldn't threaten the POTUS with impeachment---does that make any sense to anyone?

The problem that the Republicans have that the Democrats did not in 2024, is that Trump has captured the Republican party base and party organization.

There is a large cohort of voters who are attached to him personally and not the Republican Party. Trump has successfully purged a lot of political figures who were Republicans and more moderate conservatives in the party ranks and reorganized the party around sycophants and Trump loyalists.

Biden was boosted by party elites and affiliated media in 2020 in a way that helped him win the nomination. However, outside of his inner circle, he never had a particularly large electoral base that was attached to him personally. Outside of the DNC too, which Biden loyalists controlled, he had no real control over the major donor networks, and was reliant on the support of other major party leaders.

The core of Biden's electoral base are Democrats who will vote for the Democratic nominee regardless of who it is. With Trump he brings in a large unattached group of voters who will only vote for him.

The 25th was not "invoked". Doing so would have required the VP and a majority of the Cabinet to transmit to the President pro Temp of the Senate and the House Speaker their **official written declaration** that the POTUS cannot discharge the functions of his office. THAT DID NOT HAPPEN.

But purportedly, Kamala talked about doing so if Biden didn't quietly withdraw his candidacy for another term.. So, in return for withdrawing he gets to keep his title and office, but apparently w/o being in charge.

But Harris and the top Dems will dispute that last part, arguing Biden convinced them that even if he was a flaky candidate he still had enough working neurons to handle being the POTUS.

Which of you out there could credibly dispute that? Who, exactly, would have the legal standing to do so?

I agree that this is a dangerous position for our country to be in.

But for those who claim Harris committed a crime by talking about the 25th, nonsense.

Joe's dementia has probably gotten so bad that even Jill and Hunter are unable to let him appear in public because it will make them look even worse than they already do for hiding his condition. The elephant in the room continues to be "who's running the show?" With Joe's removal it can't be Jill any longer, so which un-elected individuals are in charge?
