No sunrise pictures today — a rainy morning.

American tourists visiting national landmarks less safe after Parks Police quietly neglected

"As left-wing leaders around the country pushed a movement to "defund" their local police departments, the U.S. Park Police (USPP) quietly saw staffing levels drop and a strain on resources behind the scenes as one of the country's oldest law enforcement agencies continues to ask for more resources, according to union leaders.

The agency, which primarily safeguards national monuments in Washington, D.C.; New York City; and San Francisco, is at its lowest staffing level since 1975, according to Ken Spencer, chairman of the United States Park Police Fraternal Order of Police (FOP).

"At the officer level, it feels like it's almost deliberate, how bad they let our staffing get," he told Fox News Digital. "Days off are always canceled. Leave is canceled frequently. And the day-to-day operations [are] just absolutely unsafe for the mission that we have."

...

Neither the Interior Department nor the NPS immediately responded to requests for comment. The FOP previously said both agencies have "stood in the way" of the legislation.

Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., sent a fiery letter to Interior Secretary Deb Haaland on Friday demanding she produce more resources for the USPP after an anti-Israel "mob of thousands" burned U.S. flags, vandalized landmarks and assaulted officers at Columbus Plaza in a violent July 24 protest that broke out in response to Israeli Prime MInister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to Capitol Hill.

"It is with grave concern that I write to you once again about your failure to adequately address the criminal, violent actions of pro-terror, anti-Israel protesters on federal property," he wrote. "For the second time in two months, [USPP] officers have been left with inadequate resources and insufficient numbers of officers to defend the public and protect federal property from a malicious mob.

Kamala Harris has promised action on corporate price-gouging.

"If elected president, Harris will direct her administration to increase scrutiny of potential mergers between large supermarkets and food producers specifically for the risk that the proposed merger would raise grocery prices for consumers.”

It should be noted that she is currently the Vice President and she and Joe Biden could have proposed this 3.5 years ago, but didn't. She COULD announce that she's going to start doing this TODAY.

But no. You must elect her first. Only THEN will she do this. (And Pro-Tip ... other parts of the government ALREADY do this. She has zero control of this.)

It's a bold move, Cotton. Let's see how it works out.

Looks like some Evangelicals have opened their eyes.

https://www.christianpost.com/news/billy-grahams-granddaughter-joins-evangelicals-for-harris-call.html

“The granddaughter of the late Rev. Billy Graham endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris during an "Evangelicals for Harris" Zoom call Wednesday and suggested that Christians who support former President Donald Trump are causing people to turn away from Christianity.

"In 2016, when a man bragged about assaulting women, various leaders of my faith then propped up this man as a poster boy for godly manhood and leadership," she continued. "This broke my heart as I have watched — quite frankly, for the last eight years — people who were curious about Jesus and His teachings [have] done a 180 and walked in the other direction from my faith.

Duford went on to reference Isaiah 1:30, which likens the rebellious and unfaithful Israelites in Jerusalem and Judah to "an oak whose leaf withers" and "a garden without water." She implied that Trump supporters are similar.“

Inga said...

“‘We’re doing this as an intellectual speech,” he promised the raucous audience. “You’re all intellectuals today. Today we’re doing it, and we’re doing it, right now. And it’s very important. They say it’s the most important subject.” Later, he added that “I’m not sure it is. But they say it’s the most important. Inflation is the most important. But that’s part of economy.”

“Over the course of the nearly 12,000 words spoken from the stage, about 2,000 actually detailed the economy. And even those were generally a mishmash of robotic teleprompter pledges and off-the-cuff riffs about whatever happened to be on Trump’s mind.

VP Harris’s Democratic Party would be unrecognizable to my father and uncle and I cannot reconcile it with my values.

The Democratic Party of RFK and JFK was the party of civil liberties and free speech. VP Harris‘s is the party of censorship, lockdowns, and medical coercion.

Kennedy Democrats were anti-war. Kamala‘s is riddled with neocon warmongers.

The RFK/JFK dems were allies of Main Street, cops, firefighters, and working people. VP Harris’s is the Party of Big Tech, Big Pharma and Wall Street.

My dad and uncle’s party was the champion of voting rights and fair elections. VP Harris’s is the party of lawfare, disenfranchisement, and the coronation of its candidates by corporate donors and party elites.

I’ve used our nation’s courts to prosecute corporations who hurt Black Americans. VP Harris used our nation’s courts to mercilessly prosecute Black Americans and exploit them for their labor.

My father and uncle prided themselves on their skills at debate and their ability to articulate a coherent vision for our country. VP Harris is scared to debate and can’t survive an unscripted interview. Instead of outlining a vision, she relies on middleschool tactics – memes, forged headlines, infantile slogans (Joy!) and name calling (“Republicans are weird.“)

I’ve spent years battling government corruption and lies. VP Harris spent years gaslighting Americans about the health of our Commander in Chief.

I have no plans to endorse Kamala Harris for President. I do have a plan to defeat her."

The magic of a threat not yet made. Kroger is planning to reduce grocery prices by $1 billion if it can complete its almost $25 billion purchase of rival Albertsons. Kamala has unofficially inferred that her new economics package will address price gouging and mergers by food businesses. But that won't happen until later today in her Raleigh speech.

Humperdink said...

@Inga. Evangelicals for Harris? Makes me laugh. The biggest single issue for Evangelicals for decades has been overturning Roe v. Wade. Trump made it happen. Dream on.

Humperdink said...

So the Harris campaign is now opting for price controls as an inflation solution. Nixon tried it and it was an abject failure. Once price controls ceased, market forces took over and prices shot up. One humorous note during price controls, butchers created “new” cuts of meat that could escape the controls and be priced according to market demands

Enigma said...

Kamala's price controls were not her idea -- she has no ideas, just cackles and giggles and confused words. This proposal continues how Biden's oligarchic handlers have strategically and systematically bribed the poor/dependent class since 2021. When the oligarchs want to control the masses...bread and circuses...

The oligarchs who openly control the Democratic Party previously directed bribes/gifts to their dependents (aka "voters") via racial equity, open immigration, not prosecuting their supporters, letting drug addicts and the mentally ill do whatever they want, letting common thieves rampage through retail stores, paying service staff to not work during the lockdowns, blocking evictions/supporting rent payments and then being shocked by inflation, and handing out tuition money to the reckless children of wealthy parents who went to state-funded schools filled with tenured professors who also suckle from the government teat.

No news here. Marionette Biden was replaced by marionette Harris. Both were chosen as obvious marionettes in 2020. See the underlying monopoly money interests of Bloomberg, Gates, Soros, Zuckerberg, Bezos, the Google crew, and a bunch of low profile dark money donors. They all work in the interest of power, control, and monopolies, and never for the "common person." You can fool many of the people all the time, and you can bribe many of the people too. How many?

"The America We Deserve" is a book written by author Dave Shiflett in 2000, with Trump's name and picture plastered on the front cover, Donald supposedly proposed that America should “reexamine the single-payer plan, as many individual states are doing.” He proposed adopting the Canadian single-payer system.

“If you can’t take care of your sick in the country, forget it, it’s all over. I mean, it’s no good. So I’m very liberal regarding health care,” Trump told Larry King in 1999. “I believe in universal health care. I believe in whatever it takes to make people well and better.”

During his rambling press conference at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, Trump said of Kamala Harris: “She cosponsored legislation to abolish very popular private health insurance, which 150 [million] Americans rely on, dumping everyone onto inferior socialist government-run health care systems with rationing and deadly wait times, while massively raising your taxes. She wants to take away your private health care.”

So perhaps Project 2025 is intended to end VA, Medicare, Medicaid, and all other government-run health care as well.

This is a good moment to judge who is truthing and who is lying about Kursk

Per Ukraine: they have set up civilian administration in occupied Russian territory, and are setting up a buffer zone to prevent incursions from the Russian Federation.

Per Russian sources: It's a turnkey shoot, dozens of tanks have been destroyed, AD systems, artillery pieces and multiple rocket launchers, EW systems armored personnel carriers and dozens of other vehicles have been destroyed, retreat has been cut off, and twenty percent of the soldiers sent in are already killed or severely wounded, and they are only holding off sending in their armor to mop up because they don't want to interfere with the hunt and kill operation going on right now as the Ukrainian forces have scattered and gone to ground.

Both can't be true. Since we are in the cheap seats, we can't know right now, fog of war and all that, but one of these parties is telling lies so large that they will not be able to hide them for very long.

One doesn't need to guess who is lying. Russia is always lying.

Dr Weevil said...

We do in fact know that the Russians are lying. Early on they were claiming that less than 1,000 Ukrainians had crossed the border, and that Russian troops had killed 950 of them and destroyed 300 vehicles, while admitting that the Ukrainians were still advancing and capturing dozens of villages while the Russians evacuated tens of thousands of civilians. They stopped saying that when they realized that that meant that 30-50 Ukrainian soldiers were enough to defeat the several thousand (at least) Russian troops in the area. It was not just a lie but a really stupid one.

Anyone who follows @JuliaDavisNews and other accounts I've recommended on Twitter knows that the propagandists on Russian television are now admitting that Russia may lose, that the war may not end in their lifetimes, that state media (that's themselves!) need to stop lying to the people, and that the Russian 'Deep State' is a problem, among much else.

And Ukraine hasn't just set up a civilian administration, they have captured 2000+ Russian troops and killed plenty more, including destroying two whole convoys of trucks loaded with troops. (Russians on-line are complaining about the stupidity of their generals lining them up like sitting ducks.) There is plenty of video evidence on-line for anyone who cares to look for it.

Meanwhile, the Russians video themselves looting Russian houses, and cutting off the head of another Ukrainian prisoner.
