imTay said...: the Lib Dems got one million fewer votes than Farage's party, and got 68 seats, and Farage, I believe, got four seats. Labor's vote was a mile wide and an inch deep, but, like in France, the leader of the Tories lashed himself at the hip to Ukraine, and his party's voters simply abandoned him.

Macron, in France, also lashed himself at the hip to Ukraine and Zelensky, and his party is all but wiped out there. They still have some shenanigans that they can do in France to frustrate the will of the voters, but I can't think of an election in a major European power where a leader who has embraced Zelensky's regime has gotten the most votes. But almost uniformly in Europe since the war broke out, the party with the most seats won has been skittish about the war, and has been denied the ability, as was traditional up to now, to form the government.; 7/5/24, 9:29 PM

They said at their great feast as part of the ritual: "Next year in Jerusalem" expressing a connection to that city as their capital. These are the marks of an indigenous culture.

And the new PM has done away with the scheme to ship migrants off to Rwanda. This should take some pressure off the Irish Republic, which was getting migrants from the UK who didn't want to go to Rwanda. But Eire is still in the EU so they are susceptible to migrant infestation.; 7/5/24, 9:42 PM

The key variable right now is Harris. As a commenter over at TheNewNeo opined, the Democrat PTBs know a lot more about her various abilities (heh) and disabilities than we do, and it doesn't look like a bandwagon is rolling ... yet.

The next shoe to drop is that virtual nomination vote before the end of July. We'll see if Biden survives that, or if there is a sudden course change. I expect over the next week we may see gradual abandonment of plans to draft some non-candidate into the top slot and more 'Kamala - tanned rested and ready.'; 7/6/24, 6:10 AM
