And there's tells - you watch the performance of the current press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and you can tell by her expressions that she knows she's lying, but she's never going to get a job like this again and no matter how much it sucks she's going to stay with it.

But that's the problem, isn't it? There's really nothing they can point to as a 'win' for the last few years. Getting inflation down? It's a ratchet - it goes up and even if it drops to zero (which they'd tout as a win) the prices themselves aren't going to drop. And you can tell me all you want that the economy's doing better - but all it takes is one trip to the grocery store and you'll get hit with an increase from 30-50% from 3 years ago. And gas - well, that's not going to help 'em.

I can't think of anything the Dems have had a success with in the last 20 years. Obamacare basically increased costs and regulation by 5 to 10 times. 'Cash for Clunkers' blew up the used car market and hurt the auto industry for a few years. 'Saving the planet' isn't a winner - it's a tolerable cause when things are going well, but when the money's tight such a thing is a luxury belief and not an election winner.

But they tell us they 'care', and 'care so much', and they'll 'do amazing things for us' and get actors out who can fake sincerity (anyone else see Mark Hamill cozy up to Biden? It's like Luke Skywalker cozying up to the Imperial Emperor, lol) - and once in office they forget anything but their own agendas, like opening the border and making sure there's never-ending wars.

They believe they can still tell people what's what. They believe they can still convince people that Joe and the Hoe are the best going forward, even though Joe's getting more and more dysfunctional by the day. They believe they can say the economy's doing well, and it's just the Rs telling people it isn't that's the problem. (Couldn't be that the economy isn't doing well, that's just defeatism...)

All in all, they're going to have to cheat like hell in Nov. You can't just be 'against' everything the other candidate stands for - you've got to be campaigning FOR something, and I just don't think that the Dems have anything that the majority want.

That's how it looks from here. I don't know how they keep pulling it off, but it sure seems to work for a certain subset of the population.

But then, just look at all the TDS that's out there- "Trump's literally Hitler" and "Trump wants to be a dictator"- that sort of nonsense. And people believe it even when it's the Democrats who are acting like nazis (Palestine, anyone?) and regularly talk about how they want to make fundamental changes (read: install Democrats as permanent rulers) to the way the government works. Example? They're perfectly fine with the Supreme Court when rulings go their way but when they don't, out come the calls to "rein in" a rogue court.
