"RFK Jr. is radical left. He reminds me of this fly that's driving me crazy up here. This fly is brutal. I don't like flies!"

"But RFK Jr. calls you a terrorist group. You know he calls you a terrorist group."

Said Trump at the NRA convention — video.

Brutal????!!!!

Now I know that Trump knows the "insect politics" speech from "The Fly":
"Have you ever heard of insect politics? Neither have I. Insects... don't have politics. They're very... brutal. No compassion, no compromise. We can't trust the insect. I'd like to become the first... insect politician. You see, I'd like to, but... I'm afraid, uh... I'm saying... I'm saying I - I'm an insect who dreamed he was a man and loved it. But now the dream is over... and the insect is awake... I'm saying... I'll hurt you if you stay."

Have you ever heard of insect politics? Trump has!

Bobby says he honors the Second Amendment. He has pictures of himself hunting, which is more than Trump can say.

However, if Junior' can fly all over the map about abortion, I must distrust anything he claims about other contentious issues.

The fly is not reasoning well just now. A man buzzes at its ears. This is enough to render it incapable of good advice. If I would have it find truth, I should chase away this animal which holds its reason in check and disquiets that intelligence which governs kingdoms. - Lautreamont

Comparing RFK Jr. or his campaign to a fly is interesting. That he used the word brutal could be coincidental, or indicative of the way he absorbed pop culture over the years or intentional. I enjoy his off-the-cuff remarks. America deserves a president with the ability to think on his feet and weave current events into his prepared remarks. OTOH Joe went to Atlanta to brag about his fake history of civil rights activism, for which he has been awarded endless Pinocchios and one of the things he apologized for in 1988 when he dropped out of the presidential race because Connie Chung got him to admit he was lying and plagiarizing repeatedly.

Joe’s way of absorbing pop culture would lead him to wax inelegantly about “that time i turned into a fly…”

I'm afraid insect politics is what's being played these days on both sides. It's all brutal. And no one involved gives a crap how it looks anymore. They are both laying it all out there.

And we haven't even gotten into the real thick of things yet. It's going to get much uglier, much more damaging, much more brutal.

Brutal? Trump don't know brutal and insect politics like we do. Right, gadfly?

He's the best, most natural public speaker since Bill Clinton.

Don ~said "RFK Jr, I call him Junior, is like this fly buzzing around me."

Maybe, but Trump and Biden won't debate Junior. Bobby is no fly, he's the elephant in the room.

Trump's right. RFK Jr. is a dishonest little irritant. A few minutes of actually looking at his radically leftist past shows how little so-called "independent" "political iconoclasts" really know about any of his real beliefs and political affiliations.

Remember RFK Jr. abandoning his family and sleeping with so many women he kept a notebook recollecting them, which he titled "My Lust Demons," while his abandoned wife hung herself in their garage?

More a scorpion than a fly, but Trump captures the poetry of the moment.

I also think that Trump operates at a level of "insect politics." It's the most vile notion that I can think of, to attach to Trump. And it fits.

Trump only knows how to speak to the people who are already in his camp.
He has no clue how to speak and sound intelligent to perhaps "garner" (sorry) more voters into that camp.

It's a special club. Trump doesn't need to focus on RFK jr.

I like RFK, I don't know the details of his stance on guns, but hunting pics do not impress me. The 2nd Amendment is not about sporting goods. It's about the fundamental nature of the relationship of the citizen to the government in the United States.
The ability to protect yourself is as much a basic life sustaining need as food, clothing and shelter. If you are reliant on someone else to provide the basics of life, you are not free.

Goldblum was a great choice for the fly. He's so odd and strange, he's a natural mad scientist and man-fly.

As for RFK, he seems to be a standard issue liberal/left Democrat who has doubts Ukraine, and realized our handling of CV-19 was a disaster. Otherwise, he's an Open borders, social liberal, big spender, Israel shill. A younger Joe Biden with more muscle

This is the kind of pattern matching where Althouse excels and why I've been reading her for 20+ years.

After the June debate between Biden and Trump, no matter whether it actually happens or not, Trump should definitely arrange a debate with RFK. Make RFK an even more viable anti-Trump option for voters.

Other than saying "RFK jr. is the choice for Democrats who are sick of husk-puppet Joe... &
Make no mistake - JRJ Jr. is on the left on most issues." Just shut up and focus on Biden's many insane and corrupt policies. If I were Trump - I would be hammering the open southern border non-stop.

Clueless:Trump only knows how to speak to the people who are already in his camp…

Yet he garnered more votes in 2020 than any incumbent in history and is currently doubling his share of the minority vote. How is he doing that, April? Do you ever, other than the shapeshifting handle you use, ever criticize the people Trump is running against? I haven’t seen it. You seem uniquely focused on weird Trump criticism. Like Chuck. Like Rich. Like Gadfly. Strange. I used to think that you thought for yourself.

On my way to the land this morning to give the dogs a run, I was listening to NPR, a New Yorker radio interview of Junior'. At the very end, the interviewer (David Remnick) disclosed that the interview was conducted in July of last year. All through the interview, Remnick would step back and engage in a narrative about his private take on Junior' and his views - in other words, creating distance so that he could volley cheap shots in comfort and safety, a deeply dishonest technique of pre-inserting bias into the questions that followed, when he returned to the interview.

It reminded me of Apocalypse Now, when Captain Willard steps away from the action to talk about the other characters. My wife noticed it, too. Remnick picked at all of Junior's' unusual positions and conspiracy theories that have been inflamed to put them at their worst, even bringing up Alex Jone's name from time to time, instead of making any attempt to represent them fairly and get at Junior's' actual, genuine positions - a few of which are better grounded than one might think. The Democrats are terrified of Junior' - that's my conclusion.

The rivers are in flood now - out of the banks and into the fields, and over some secondary roads. That's Texas: Drought, drought, drought, drought, drought, drought, and then flood. The flowers out on the land now are making my bees happy.

Well, "sleeping with...many women" is an heredity trait in the Kennedy males. It's nature, not nurture! Dead women also figure in with several Kennedys, (e.g., Monroe and Kopechne come immediately to mind).

What did Ted Kennedy say to Mary Jo Kopechne when she told him she might be pregnant?

We'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

There is no logical reason to expect a Kennedy administration would be much different than Biden's. RFK appointments would draw from the same pool as Biden has or any other Democrat POTUS. Secondly, Kennedy has no actual experience in government service or at running anything public, corporate, or NGO, besides his mouth. But he's a Kennedy so he doesn't need experience, right? It's in his blood. Sure Kennedy got the vaccine scam right but even a blind pig & etc. Put me down as a hard "no" on RFK.
