"Federal Money Is All Over Milwaukee. Biden Hopes Voters Will Notice."

Headline at the NYT.

Across Milwaukee, residents can see evidence of federal money from laws passed under the Biden administration, if they know where to look.... [O]f the more than $1 billion for Milwaukee County in the American Rescue Plan Act, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act... much is harder to see.... That presents both an opportunity and a challenge to Mr. Biden’s re-election campaign as it seeks to show Americans how federal investments have improved their lives. Doing so is difficult because the laws delegated many spending decisions to state and local officials, obscuring the money’s source....

And all this federal money has caused the worst inflation in 50 years. We’ve noticed that!

The source is taxpayers, dickheads...

Borrowing and then spending money is not investing.

Spreading my tax dollars around corrupt Democrat cities in battleground states.

This is what "saving our Democracy" looks like.

If I tried to buy votes with my own personal money, I'd be arrested.

Did they put up signs, (as was done on University Ave. in Madison by Hill Farms) to remind folks where the $$$ came from?

Federal Money Is All Over Milwaukee.

"And there's hamburger all over the highway in Mystic Connecticut."

LOL - they see the results every day at the grocery store and the gas pump. Hard to see anything else when their basic needs are all consuming. If only Biden cared about the actual people, and not just their votes.

LOL!
They're buying you with your own money.

The GOP would scream about this all day, every day, if they really wanted to control Congress.

Maybe RFK Jr. will say something.

Does this include Federal money for plywood window coverings? or plywood murals?

What ever happened to "You broke it, you bought it"?
I know, I know, it's a different generation.

Where is my fucking money?

I'm doing OK but have friends who are struggling.

Everything is out of control and I don't see sanity in sight...

P0TATUS Biden drives the lane, tossing taxpayer money out along his way as he takes the crock to the toilet.

Both parties are so happy to spend other peoples money to buy their re election. At least Dems are transparent about who and what they are.
I'm tired of listening to Rep tell me how hard they are working for things they never accomplish, or even care about.

Well, this could harsh Biden's Milwaukee narrative:

High school football coach, 60, dies after chemotherapy supply runs out...as drug shortages threatens lives of US cancer patients

High school football coach could not get chemo drugs for six months and died

Around one in 10 cancer patients cannot access cisplatin currently in shortage

A Milwaukee football coach has become the latest victim of the devastating drug shortage crisis threatening the lives of patients with diabetes, cancer and deadly infections.

Jeff Bolle, 60, a high school counselor and football coach, succumbed to bile duct cancer last December after doctors ran out of his vital chemotherapy drug, cisplatin.

Bolle had surgery and four rounds of chemotherapy to remove a grapefruit-sized tumor in his bile duct next to his liver.

Hmm. Paywall. But let me guess. Article says nothing about
..inflation
..debasement of currency
..destruction of savings accounts
..paying "capital gains" tax on phantom gain
..borrowing from your unborn grandchildren

Well, to put a cap on it.

“The state — or, to make matters more concrete, the government — consists of a gang of men exactly like you and me. They have, taking one with another, no special talent for the business of government; they have only a talent for getting and holding office. Their principal device to that end is to search out groups who pant and pine for something they can’t get, and to promise to give it to them. Nine times out of ten that promise is worth nothing. The tenth time it is made good by looting ‘A’ to satisfy ‘B’. In other words, government is a broker in pillage, and every election is a sort of advanced auction on stolen goods.”

"obscuring the money’s source"

It's fed, it's taxes, it's from everyone's pocket. Doled out surreptitiously to garner votes.

This seems like an in-kind campaign contribution to the Biden campaign.

Buying votes is apparently less difficult, although perhaps more expensive, than administering or legislating any solutions to problems facing the electorate. Where do I go to get my check?

Yeah, I see the effect of that Federal money every time I have to leave an hour earlier than desired in order to get through the freeway construction in downtown Milwaukee that brings traffic to a crawl… it’s been that way for over a year now. Every time I’m stopped in construction traffic, I think “thanks Joe for using taxpayer $ to prolong my commute with no end in sight!”.

Equally difficult to see is the looming immiseration that will surely come from the continual build-up of an unsustainable federal debt.

They're buying you with your own money.

They are buying you with your kids' and grandkids' money. That way you don't really see the cost, and the politicians will be long gone after the house of cards fall.

My experience is that people who depend on a constant stream of unearned money to live don't understand or care where it comes from. They only notice when it gets shut off.

"... obscuring the money’s source....".

Which is about 50% taxation and 50% inflation.

boatbuilder said...

The Federal money is much easier to spot where my daughter and son-in-law live--Old Town Alexandria. Both are employed in the "private sector," but that Emerald City glitz comes courtesy of you and me and the Federal money printing press.

boatbuilder said...

And everybody knows that "Federal Money" is free. Joe Biden gives it to people because he is a nice guy. All those other politicians, especially Republicans, don't give away Federal Free Money because they just don't like people and are evil. Vote for Free Federal Money.

Also, I have a great deal on NFT tokens.

boatbuilder said...

Have any of the crack economic reporters at the NYT done a study of how much the Inflation Reduction Act has...reduced inflation?

(Hint: printing money does not reduce inflation. By definition.)

Yancey Ward said...

I don't know- can people spot the fatter wallets of the politically connected class who actually get all the "infrastructure" money?

J Scott said...

Hard to see the money when it all largely went to pay and employ bureaucrats.

So, he is buying votes with Taxpayer money...just like he is funding Ukraines pension funds, and illegal aliens wealthy
American lifestyles, and we get to pay for it all, and he rewards Democrat cities. Got it.
