Clarkson’s Farm Season 3 is coming at the end of the week. Shorsey Season 3 coming next month. Letterkenny is over but there’s all twelve seasons on Hulu. They probably aren’t things septuagenarians are interested in but they are funnier than those old shows. The Roberta Bondar cold open deserves a place in the TV comedy HoF next to Lucy’s conveyor belt and The Contest.

Stumbled across a 1971 episode of Woody Allen hosting The Tonight Show with guest Bob Hope.
Allen was slovenly, unprepared, and stumbled through his chat with sofa-warming Ed McMahon. No monologue. He delivered an odd joke about "horny children."
Hope was smooth as silk. Dressed to the nines. A pro. He and Allen fawned over each other. Hope tossed off a few lame jokes about NY taxis and being afraid to go to the bathroom in glass-coated NYC skyscrapers. He admitted that he used a team of writers for 30 years!
I hate to break the news, but the Progressive Left hasn't done a single toxic thing that they weren't allowed to do.

Jerry Seinfeld, Dave Chappell, Bill Burr, and Bill Maher are all fighting the Left and the cancel culture. I doubt all of them are raging right wing conservatives. They’re all free speech moderates who have forced to defend free speech and expression.
In reality, we don’t have a unified left-right libertarian movement to counter a very unified left-right authoritarian movement. To the extent we do have a liberty movement, it’s being led by Burr, Chappell, Seinfeld & Maher. What none of them have connected the dots on is that the perpetual state of war, the importation of millions of illegal immigrants, DEI, ESG, Climate Change, domestic spying, the continued drug war and police militarization, speech restrictions, and cancel culture are all related.
There are good, noble, honorable reasons for each of these actions that hide their nefarious intent. The good, noble, and honor reasons are what the authoritarians use to make us feel guilty when we verbalize the nefarious intent.

He was hilarious on "Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee," due in no small part to his skills an interviewer. He knew when to let the guest talk, and when to pop off with a one-liner when the situation warranted. Also, cars. And coffee.

It's hard to make jokes about people who say they are for freedom but take away other people's freedom when they say they are not for freedom for all, only for freedom for those like themselves. Seinfeld came of age in the sweet spot. No comedian who ever came before made as much money and no comedian who will come after will ever make as much. He had a hit show when network television was the most massive mass market, and then came residuals. I don't think even Bob Hope made as much money. So far as I know, his private life isn't marred by scandal, but he did get to court a girl half his age. Although eyebrows were raised, no condemnations were made. He's a talented comedian and a faithful husband. He deserves his success, but the vagaries of fate have much to do with his preeminence in the field of comedy......Whether he gets to the gate or not will have no appreciable effect on his future happiness.
Good to see Seinfeld giving more than a few talks over the last couple of years on the 'death of comedy'. He's always been funny. And weirdly, he didn't have to swear or talk about body parts to be funny. Well...not crudely anyway.
But, what's weirder for me is that Seinfeld is a born in New York Jew. Which, by that very phrase means he spent his life as a 'liberal'. Perhaps he still is. More of the classic old Liberal that Democrats used to be. But as I listen to him or read interviews, he's sounding more conservative all the time. As are others who have some years put in already.
But the new comedians? With a handful of exceptions, they follow the Woke mandates. And they're not funny.

The notion is that scripts go through some vetting by committees or quality control geeks. I'm sure that's true, but that's all I think that I know:
Who does that?
What kind of training do they have for it.
Who's their boss?
Can they get promoted or fired?
How much Omph do they have?
What kind of salary are we talking about here?
What kind of performance goals do they have?
Could they have some sort of spokesperson or union or something?
