So strange.

I was assured most confidently by Dumb Lefty Mark and the Althouse LLR-democratical Brigade (Rich, Violent Homosexual Rage Rape Fantasist Chuck, lonejustice) that Elon Musk's X was just like all the other social media platforms (Spoiler: its not in the slightest) in catering to both foreign government and US govt growing lefty/democratical censorship demands.

And here we have the US govt supported Lula govt of Brazil, acting thru a single absolutely corrupted judge (sound like a familiar playbook?) acting to permanently ban X in Brazil because Elon WON'T go ao alon wjtj the New Soviet censorship demands.

Gee, who saw that coming...besides everyone I mean?

And thus it came to pass, that no one ever gave a shit about lesbians in Iowa, ever again.

We made it to Houlton, ME. Fingers crossed.

I got up a little before sunrise today, hoping that it would be clear enough to allow a glimpse of the planets at dawn, but it was so cloudy I didn't bother going to a better vantage than the end of the driveway, which is OK for looking west but not for looking east.

There was nothing like the grand and glorious dawnscapes you captured, either.

Friday I went to get a haircut but my barber--the owner of the small old-fashioned shop--was on vacation with no firm date of return, and the one guy there was booked up all day. So, not to make the drive a complete waste I dropped in at the main public library.

On a whim I decided to see what they had of Thomas Berger's novels, and it was slim pickings. I had enjoyed "Little Big Man" a few years ago, so checked out "Return of LBM"
and have not been disappointed. Jack Crabb is America's Flashman (or maybe Flashman is Victoria's Jack Crabb).

So strange. . . . Elon WON'T go ao alon wjtj. . .

So I presume that "ao alon wjtj" is another brand name for coffee, like TFG's Covfefe, perhaps preferred by MBS while chopping up his victims. Or maybe it simply means, applying Occams Razor: "I refuse to turn on my spellchecker."

I am in the path for 100% total eclipse. Also in the path for a typical 100% cloudy day in NW PA. Hype reduced to 99% from 110%. Schools closed, government offices, local motels overbooked.

Note: There will be 8 total eclipses in the next ten (10) years. Of course one will need to flee the country to see them.

Well played Iowa

IHO they had the wrong game plan. It was executed well, but did not work. Normally getting touches in the lane is key, but their bigs dominated. No shame in taking the Best team in the Nation, to a close end.

iowan2 said...

I doubt SC would have prevailed if they were put in the region that had to dispatch Both LSU and UCONN to make the Championship Game.
Geno Auriemma make the case the committee designed two national championship games for TV ratings.

Getting ready to head out the door with our kids family to find totality. Skies are perfect for Now, but we 7 hours from totality. Drive is about 150 miles, but budgeting 5 hours of drive time.

Then afterwords the crush of cars leaving, is even worse.

The South Carolina women’s basketball coach is on record as supporting trans women playing women’s basketball. Does her current team include biological males? Maybe there needs to be an asterisk next to their championship.

Be safe, all those who are on the road for the eclipse.

I'm in the 98-99% of-totality-bracket here, but unfortunately I'm also in the high 80's for the expected percent cloud cover. It'll go dark, but I won't be able to prove why.

@lily

kinda cute, maybe.

Women's basketball at the high school and collegiate level has been huge in Iowa for going on 50 years. The 6-on-6 HS championship was a bigger deal than HS football in my day. Vivian Stringer built on that in the late 1980s and 1990s to build U of I into a nationally recognized program, winning multiple Big 10 championships and reaching the Final Four in 1983. Iowa has made regular appearances in women's NCAA tournaments through the years under multiple coaches, and former players have gone on to coach at many winning programs. One of the SC assistants is Jolette Law, a former Iowa player for Stringer .

When I was growing up in Iowa, the biggest sporting events of the year were the girls' basketball and boys' wrestling championships.

It was the Revenge Final Four. First Iowa dispatched LSU, who defeated the Hawkeyes in the final last year, then SC avenges its only loss in two years by beating Iowa.

Not even a nice try. Just another pathetic moving of the goalposts not just down the field but out of the stadium and down to the river for dumping!

Musk has already definitively stated he will post censorship demands made by foreign govts, which accounts are affected, and X's response.

Which sets X far apart from the leftist controlled social media platforms which Dumb Lefty Mark adores.

I just saw this sensational headline: The day of nuclear Armageddon: Newly declassified documents reveal in macabre minute-by-minute detail what the end of the world would like. (link to Daily Mail).

Here's an Althouse link to Amazon where you can purchase the 2020 reprinting of the The Effects of Nuclear Weapons. If you are cheap, you can find the same information <a href="https://www.atomicarchive.com/resources/documents/effects/glasstone-dolan/>here</a> for free.

I have no idea why the Daily Mail and "investigative journalist" Annie Jacobsen is just learning of this information. Oh wait, I found out, she just wrote a book published in March. I won't like to it, because I already provided a less dramatized source.

Are you claiming every 375 years, Trump's stock will fall 10% in a day? You need to stop with this love affair over Trump's business. I mean the entire DJIA fell 1.5% on Friday.

The Drag never cites any source for his content because he relies on his "I love to play troll on Althouse and disruption is better than contribution" mentality. But my many references to real news far exceed his hopeless idiocy. Today's typo is the nonexistent word "cant." Thanks for proving my point.

Got really dark under the completely overcast "partly cloudy" skies that were forecast for the last week. It's CNY. Overcast is a good forecast for any day.

One reason why I wonder why we waste taxpayer money subsidizing solar farms here.

Just saw the eclipse in Whitehall Indiana, 5 miles from Bloomington, beautiful sunny day with some high altitude haze. Right on the peak line. Great observing conditions.

Beautiful experience, fantastic silvery light. Very moving. Nothing like it.

"In my mind I’m going to India na. Vincennes, India na to be clear."

I stayed here in the beautiful Fox Valley region of the hopelessly corrupt Illinois to view the eclipse. Not wanting to drag out the 8 inch refletor, I set a 60 power spotting scope on a tripod and used another tripod to attach a white index card. It wound up blowing the image up to about 10x. To the point where I could see the International Space Station against the sun. We easily had 90% totality.

Don't use it often, but this is the definition is use for cant: to lean : to be positioned at an angle

There are others. It's far from a non-existent word. Adding the apostrophe totally changes the meaning.

Today's typo is the nonexistent word "cant."

"Cant" is a perfectly good word, though it's true that it was misused where indicated. Definition (from Merriam-Webster) and an example of its proper usage:

"the expression or repetition of conventional or trite opinions or sentiments
especially : the insincere use of pious words"

Ex.: Sometimes it's hard to tell whether gadfly is speaking from principle, or just parroting leftist cant.

You didn't have "a point" which is why you once again had no unattributed plagiarized content to offer as your own per your M.O.!

Thanks for actually only proving my point...AGAIN!

This, I'm afraid, is why the lefties and fake "true conservatives" like yourself, of the LLR-democratical Brigade of Rich, Violent Homosexual Rage Rape Fantasist Chuck and lonejustice don't really accept you as one of their own.

Though they are quite pathetic in their own ways, even they clearly recognize the dregs of buffoonery that you represent.
