Looking it up on Wikipedia, I find that it is supposedly one of Pres. Trump's favorite films, according to the WaPo which reported in 2022 that he screened it several times in the White House.
"It was all very queer. But, queerer things were yet to come," says narrator William Holden, the kept-man of the lunatic silent screen recluse Norma Desmond, played by Gloria Swanson.
"I didn't know you were planning a comeback," he tells her. "I hate that word," she replied. "It's a return, a return to the millions of people who have never forgiven me for deserting the screen."
I post to thank John Henry (I'm pretty sure he was the main voice) for his recco of Arthur Herman's "Freedom's Forge" about the industrial mobilization of the USA in WWII (the Big One).
Fascinating read, and full of things I didn't know.
On the movie front, I got an email from the campus retirees association about a double feature of classics--Ophuls's "Letter from an Unknown Woman" and Ray's "In a Lonely Place."
I second Narr's comments about Freedom's Forge, it is a terrific book. I've gotten some great book, music and television recommendations from the comments over the years. Also, Dave Begley steered me to the Cloisters retreat which I've never done, but have told others about it and they have said it was life changing.
Recently I've become overly familiar with the commenters here and find myself skipping almost everything and wondering why I even bother at times. Thanks for the reminder that for all the occasional tedium, these comments are still some of the best around.

You know how people say they made a V line for whatever...
When people make a C line, or a D line, they can't say V line because they are Obese.
